Re: Borderlands

I got early so to DL the Moxxi DLC. It comes in at 550mb. Should be ready tonight. By the way if you catch the in game footage I noticed the Sirens Level was at 30 playing single player. She got taken down in the middle of wave 2. Not that it's saying you're not going to do well but much like the Zombieland Map you better be leveled up and have some decent weapons.

By the way one small tip for all doing coop, turn on any mods involving 'Team' players before jumping in.

In your missions there is something like "Catch A Ride". You know where you went out, the front gate where you take out some of the "Dogs". Straight ahead there is the shack with platform and one pole in the middle. Like the one when you got off the bus and customized your character but this does not have the square and cirlce yet. Stand in front of it and you should get the blue X and hit use.

Wait a minute, you have to get the special power charge from defeating Bone Head first before the Ride works. You have to talk to Scooter who tells you that the system is broken and you have to take down Bone Head to get it. He's a bit tough, work on him from a distance (fire helps). The Power Coupling is on a platform in the back corner.

Yep...thats the one. When you go out front and one or two bad guys come from your right side. They're coming from a small ally that leads to Bone Head. As you go thru there is a ramp and wall to your left you can go up to hide behind but be aware of a small midget and another one that will come up after you. Also when Bone Head comes he ususally is in the middle and there is a large barrel (blue) to the right that if you hit it will shock him. Watch out for three that will jump you when you start to leave in the ally.

By the way if anyone is on the first part of the game (Arid Badlands, etc...) and needs someone to go thru I don't mind one bit. I have one character still at Arid Badlands and another one about 1/3 thru, one finished and one on the tail end. I can also help get some better weapons by inviting you in on a higher level. Love the game so I don't mind going thru again. Plus it helps if you're a few levels ahead when you get to the tougher ones like Old Haven and even the Crystal Cave is a bit dauting at first. Also having two or three you get more loot and more enemies. Go ahead and send a friends request.

Kunane954 here.

I'll have to check but I think I already have you on my friends list. In any case I look for you tonight.

I'm still curious though if whoever is host dictates the level of difficulty or is it just set one way and you deal with it.

Yeah. Good luck with Bone Head, he was probably the hardest boss I've fought so far due to the Character Level differences. I died a few times.

Re: Borderlands

The Moxi add on is god awful. You have to survive 5 rounds of 5 waves. It takes forever to get through a round and then you end up dying during the next one and it is all for nothing. Worst piece of DLC I have bought. Guess this is for the hardcore players only. Definitely need a team of 4 for this so you can have people reviving each other. Tried it several times with 2 people and it is impossible to survive 5 rounds. The locker sucks as well. Even buying the 2 upgrades it only holds 33 guns. It is times like this I wish we could get refunds or resell DLC.

agreed - he was definitely the only real challenge i have had thus far (i am currently a level 31 roland) for the same reason michael points out above - when you first meet up with him, there may be a significant level discrepancy. you can try some side missions to level up, or, as i pointed out earlier, there is a stack of boxes around the corner from the gun dispensing machine (as you are facing it - to the right). you can stand on the topmost box and snipe across the fence. it takes a while, but you should be able to take him and some of his henchmen down.

I was afraid of these exact sentiments when I first heard details of this DLC. They need to forget about the fucking arena nonsense and make more great maps to visit and things to do. There goes my 100% that I will likely never achieve again in this game.

First, a locker with only 33 slots is still an additional 33 slots in the game right? I would prefer unlimited as well, but I'll definitely be happy with even just 33 more.

Second, the other stuff mentioned shouldn't really be a surprise should it? This is all stuff they've said when the DLC was originally announced. Found in this thread even.

"There's a small tournament and a big tournament. The small tournament takes probably about an hour, and most people will be able to get through that. The big tournament...one of the things people have been asking for is for something that challenges them, and that's what the big tournament is. I think the last time I went through it, it took me six hours to get through a big tournament. You can't save your progress, you have to do it in one sitting, but you can stop, walk away from it and come back [Ed note: You just can't turn the system off]. It's really hardcore. To get through the big tournament, you'll have to get some friends who are very good and you'll all have to plan out what people are going to do and what weapons you're bringing."

Yeah, I got 100% in the game as well, but I doubt I could get any of the achievements on the DLC.

I could deal with "death causes you to repeat your current round", but they make you go back even further to the previous round you beat. We got to round 4 died, got dropped back to round 3 and died and then got pushed all the way back to round 2. That was the point I said to hell with it and quit. It is just repetitive nonsense put in to appease the hardcore that bitched the game was too easy and a complete waste of $10. Would a locker than held 100 guns have been too much to ask for?

Also, I know they said the DLC would be hardcore, but I thought it was something like the Arenas in the current game. On those quests you can die and still finish the arena. On this one they upped the ante and death causes you to not only lose your current round, but lose the previous round you beat. IMO that puts the game beyond hardcore and into the cheap, petty and tedious area just to make thing harder. Not to mention you can be doing well and the game will give you a handicap for a wave like low accuracy or no shields and then you are dead and lose nearly two rounds of work.

Re: Borderlands

Ok what's the deal with bringing weapons? Can you or cannot bring what you currently have in, is it limited to certain amount or use what's in the arena?

Also when you die are you losing money like in the normal game or just going to the penaly box like in the trailer?

Also in between rounds do you have enough time to switch weapons say elemental and set your mods (skill and grenades)?

You can bring all your current weapons and I'm pretty sure you can swap them out if you have time but I didn't try. There is a very brief time between waves when they drop supplies. Death sends you to the penalty box and there is no money penalty. You can shoot from there to try and help team mates. If all the teammates die during a wave it is game over and you go back to the previous round you completed.

Re: Borderlands

You're right about having at least three or even four to play based on your experience so far. Some good pre-planning on what mods to have that will help all players (health, critical hits, damage %), transfusion grenades and stay close together.

Still want to give it go since I've paid for it and who knows they may do a fix on the bumping you back a level even if you completed it. I can see that becomming a bit of a pain in the A##.

Re: Borderlands

Hmm...doesn't sound like MM is appealing to me. I'm not a huge fan of the 'horde mode' things, especially for ten bucks. I'd rather have more quests, another area, maybe even a new class, that would be DLC I paid for.
BTW: I did buy Zombie Island. We beat the game the other night and started over right after buying ZI. I think I'm level 37. I was able to go to ZI but the first zombies were like level 42 and they ripped us up, so now we're re-doing some of the story quests to try to level up. The baddies, at least the skags, are definitely a bit tougher and out in larger force than first playthrough, it seems.

Weird thing: every time we load the game, it gives the warning "One player is too far ahead of you in the story". Even though these two characters have never played separately.

I love all the Running Man references Madd Moxxi makes

My buddy and I are having a blast, but we've only done 2 of the first 3 arena entry tournaments. Does anyone have any idea how many rounds the longest ones are?

I was up on those boxes (next to the gun locker), and had clear views into the compound, problem was, I didn't see any of the guys. bleh, I even tried blowing up some of those barrells to lure them out.

run around to the entrance, kill the low level guys you run into, then run into the area to activate the boss, then run all the way back around to Firestone, and then he will be walking around....
