Not only that but then Kojima will have them compromise the visual quality of said boring ass cutscenes to accomodate his pointless zoom-in feature. You know, to sucker people into thinking that they're doing something other than sitting through a 20-45 minute cutscene after every 15 minutes of gameplay.

[David Cox is] a producer on the game and he's been letting some details leak out about the game's development.

First, and foremost, is that the PS3 is the lead platform for development, but Cox promises it will look and play the same on both systems. This is most likely true, as when games have noticable difference they are usually developed with the 360 as the lead system. Second, and here we're getting into minutia, but Cox says that the camera is going to be fixed in the game, meaning they're probably going for a cinematic feel over a player controlled feel.

Neither of these facts really makes me any more excited for the game. I buy Castlevania games to play a Castlevania game, not an action fighter that looks inspired by God of War and Devil May Cry. Sometimes a game series doesn't need to be "reborn."
Fixed camera, boys. So if you've been having a problem with God of War's design, keep in mind this will follow suit.

I don't have a problem with that for a Castlevania game. I thought the first one on PS2 was excellent and used the same format. It makes finding all the secrets a bit harder when you can't spin the camera around to see every corner.

Hey, that's sort of what Darksiders has. No wonder I'm enjoying that game so much.

As for the new Castlevania ... the more I hear about it, the less I'm looking forward to it.

Re: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (360, PS3 - Q4 2010)

While I'm sure this goes against the obvious assumption with me, I (sort of) enjoyed the PS2 Castlevania games. Though, I'm still a bit undecided on this one, nothing really grabs me on it so far. It'll probably be something I enjoy but find nothing really remarkable about, like the PS2 games.

But I do like the change of pace with the Rondo of Blood remake, Rebirth and this.. after six GBA/DS games following a very close formula.

I would love a new Castlevania using the Trine engine. If Nintendo can do 3D and 2D Mario games, I think Konami can do the same for Castlevania (and not just on portables).

First pic of the cover art. Looking nice. I'm really hoping this will revive the franchise in grand fashion. It's been my favorite since I was a kid.

Revive? Castlevania is one of my favorite long running series, and while it's a console revival, it isn't an overall one (Dawn of Sorrow is my second favorite Castlevania game).

It is certainly a revival to its linear roots by getting away from the Metroidvania gameplay.

That's pretty much what I was referring to. With the new technologies/engines available, I didn't want this series to stay in the 2D realm. I've always thought this series/storyline could be elevated way higher than LoI or Cod.

Which is depressing a bit, I never did like the strictly linear ones (minority though it may be) as much. Been a fan of the Metroidvania formula since it was introduced in #2 (second game I owned on my NES ), was bummed when #3 went back to strictly platforming.

And for every fan of the MV style there is probably someone like me who prefers the linear Castlevanias. There's nothing wrong with the MV Castlevanias, they just aren't Castlevania to me. Probably like how some don't consider 3D Mario games a part of the core series.

Different things to different folks.

I'm still waiting for a Belmont Cart Racing game.

3 was my favorite in the series, so I'm pumped for this one.

I don't know if I consider any 3D Castlevania to be Castlevania yet. But, we'll see how the Godofwarvania turns out.

Already happened, it was called Konami Crazy Races or something.

I love Castlevania and my first knee jerk reaction to this game was "WTH?" Mostly because of the involvement of Kojima Prod. I was worried that I was getting Metalvania. I know that the timeline in Castlevania is already screwy, but I'm wondering where if at all this new game fits. One big gripe and I know I'm probably in the minority here...why is the Vampire Killer whip a cross?

X-Play reviewed this today and gave it a 4 out 5. They said it's basically God of War in medieval Europe with werewolves.

I was thinking about pre-ordering it, but Amazon removed the $20 credit so fuck them.

I confirmed today that my buddy will be buying this game so I don't have to. I can't wait to borrow it!

7.9 from gametrailers.

9.0 from Game Informer

I don't get a 7.9 vibe from the video.

Seems like the reviewer was looking for God of War.

I'm in at $30.

Looks like a significant step up from LOI and COD. I'll be picking this one up.

Yeah, what's the deal with that? I'd probably go ahead and bite if the credit was still offered. I pretty much knew I'd be getting this game; I was just waiting on reviews to make sure it didn't turn out to be sucktastic, which it clearly isn't at this point.

They seem to be cutting back on those now. The discount is $10, and now it seems that fewer games are getting it.

BTW, I wonder if they're keeping track of which birthdays are being entered for those "mature" trailers. I bet more gamers were born on January 1st than on any other day by far!

20 hours? Wow.

Definitely looks impressive. Between this and Enslaved, I might finally get in on one of TRU's B2G1 deals this year.
