"To kill the unborn in the womb" has been censored in Guitar Hero. Total bullshit.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Gave the 4 goofy achievements a go last night. 4-player drum, bass, guitar, vox. Pretty silly. The good? You can just plug in four of the same instrument and start a song to get the points, you don't actually have to finish the song. The bad? 4 lanes of notes are tiny, even on a 63" tv.

The really weird part is that we chose to sing Du Hast 4 -player. Only two have actually heard of the song and none of us know german. Pretty damn funny.

Anyone need the actual GH instruments? TRU has the World Tour bundle for $69 with free shipping. You can get an extra wired guitar free with $7 shipping.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I decided I couldn't let the VH offer pass, and decided to pick this up today while checking with GameStop on TB:RB instrument orders.

This is a very, very big improvement over GHWT. I still think I'm basically over the GH engine from a preference standpoint, but the game has been fun for the little bit that I've played. I like the challenges a lot so far.

Although I have to say, WTF is up with Sympathy for the Devil? Maybe it's just me and my difficulty with going back to the circle notes, but I was lost for basically that entire song.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Quick question...I bought a small PS3 package off craigslist and it included two guitar hero guitars (les paul and ghwt guitar) and only one dongle. I assume each guitar for the ps3 has to have its own dongle?

If so...where can replacements be found?

Thanks!

What's puzzling you is the nature of their game. (I could not resist. )

Thelwig14, try eBay for the dongles. I don't know if Gamestop has them or not, but I prefer to just check eBay than to go hunting around for stuff like that.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I don't know if anyone was in the same boat I'm in, but...

I play all these rhythm games on the PS3, and Rock Band cymbal pack didn't work on Guitar Hero: World Tour -- hitting a cymbal would result in a "controller disconnected" message. Brilliant! I've read that Guitar Hero: Smash Hits and Guitar Hero: Metallica are the same way. Playing with just the Rock Band pads isn't as fun, and even though I have the dedicated Guitar Hero drum kit, it's garbage, even after "calibrating". (I put calibrating in sarcastic-fingerquotes because it's a frustratingly annoying process and really didn't do much good anyway. It's either so sensitive that another pad is triggered or not sensitive enough to pick up what I'm doing. No middle ground.)

Anyway, even though the GH5 setlist really isn't doing much for me, I thought I might give the game a look anyway since the B1G1F deal basically makes it and GH:VH thirty bucks a pop. I would only buy it if I could use the Rock Band kit in full, though, including the cymbals.

If anyone else was wondering the same thing (I'm guessing no one is ), it looks like the answer is "yes, Activision fixed it":

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I was wondering (and also play on PS3), so that's good to hear.

I'd normally have passed on it, too, but I'm thinking of picking it up at BB by stacking their B1G1 1/2 off (buy Beatles Rock Band, get GH5 1/2 off, get GH:VH free).

A few people confirmed it on Rockband.com's forums, so it looks like the answer's "yes".

I played this today for the first time since launch day and man, their setlist is so ass. I drudge through getting enough stars to open a new venue thinking "This one has to be awesome!!" but nope, more shit on my plate. I fucking hate this game.

Yeah I had to go back to RB2 over the weekend. I stand by my statement that it's leaps and bounds better than GH:WT, but I still can't get into it for any lengthy period of time.

Which GH game are you referring?

Apparently the DotW for 9/28 will be 50% off the top 10 DLC for GH:WT.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I just went straight to the quickplay so I could avoid the terrible setlist. But after I was done, I am at about 18 strong songs...which is on par with the RB2 on disc songs for me.

But after importing GHWT, GHSH, and my DLC (which GH has some amazing DLC)...I have a strong little game going finally.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

So I guess Courtney Love not only has a Twitter account and knows how to use it, but apparently someone follows her ramblings! Well, this comes from x360a (via Perez Hilton ):

There were a few a lot of unhappy people when Kurt Cobain was announced as a playable character in Guitar Hero 5. Sure, there were a lot of happy people because "ZOMG, it's Cobain!!1!," but there were a lot that thought it went against what Kurt Cobain the man stood for. Apparently Courtney Love was one of those people. We just presumed she was on board.

Love recently went on a bit of a rampage over Twitter discussing the whole situation. Here are a couple of - unedited - tweets from her:

"For the record this Guitar Hero shit is breach of contract on a Bullys part and there will be a proper addressing of this and retraction."

"WE are going to sue the shit out of ACtivision we being the Trust the Estate the LLC the various LLCs Cobain Enterprises"

Whatever happens from here on out, it should be an entertaining series of events. We find it hard to believe though that Activision would just do this without the proper authorisation. Either way, we'll surely find out over the coming weeks as this one unfolds.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I would like to thank the Guitar Hero Franchise for sending out the pre-order codes to Gamestop that allows you to pick two songs as DLC.
I figured that once you entered in the code from the card, it would take you to a page with a list of songs to pick, kind of like they did for the free songs you got from GH:WT or Rock Band Beatles.

when I received a message on screen with two codes to redeem on xbox.com, I was a little puzzled, but thought, maybe they are giving everyone the two same songs.
I was very happy when I redeemed the two codes and they were for 160 points each.
So, thank you Guitar Hero, you let me get two Rock Band DLC songs that I wanted.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I have no idea what Courtney Love is smoking, but according to this Rolling Stone article she had to sign off for Kurt to be used.

Love not only approved Cobain's likeness being in the game (along with Dave Grohl & Primary Wave Publishing, on behalf of Cobain's estate), but she supplied pictures and videos to the developers, and personally selected his wardrobe and hair style...

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

She says there was a contract so obviously she was aware of the likeness being used.

I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and assuming she thought she was only giving them permission to use him on the Nirvana songs, and even though only as a guitarist/vocalist.

Then again, maybe this is just her realizing she fucked up for $$$ and is saving face with the public.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

For some reason, I find completely believable that Love didn't remember signing anything within minutes of doing it, much less months later.
