Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
I remember reading somewhere that Thrice remixed "Deadbolt" for this game. I watched one of the Youtube videos for it and it sounds very different and weird, to the point that I would probably not play it very often. Maybe other bands remixed their songs as well.

No, you are not missing anything...they have not yet added the ability to import songs from Smash Hits yet, but it is coming soon....

Can you imagine if they do that and there's only 12 songs?

I played You Give Love A Bad Name on bass, and I swear it does not sound like the original bass recording (I'm a bass player so I actually care
).
Vox and guitar all sound original, but I wonder if they replaced the bass line for some reason. Just little things here and there.

Yeah, I heard Johnny Cash spent several days remixing Ring of Fire for GH5.

I'd spring for Satisfaction, but the rest are far from essential tracks.

I guess I really shouldn't be too surprised at this point whenever we get treated like second class citizens....

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
I wonder how much of those Stones tracks were really recorded live? Certainly that close-miked acoustic guitar I heard in one of the previews was recorded in a studio.

Your family sounds like the specific group they're targeting with the forthcoming Band Hero game, actually. (Wikipedia article on it here.)
So there's still THREE more Activision games this YEAR?
They are oversaturating the market, BIG TIME.

They are now made of reinforced steel. I can no longer feel pain. And the songs of Locksley comprise my zen mantra.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
I picked this up because of the Van Halen deal. The set list didn't appeal to me that much to get alone, but because of the Van Halen deal I figured there was enough songs I did like.
So I played a little last night, and after previewing a bunch of the songs that I was not familiar with beforehand, I gotta say that the setlist in this game is rather disapointing.
I haven't been able to play the hardest of the hardest songs in Expert in the other games, but I believe in this one I will be able to complete all songs on Expert. Are they just out of difficult songs?
I was very happy to see some artists that I do like finally get songs in the game, like the White Stripes and Gov't Mule. But they picked horrible songs by them. Same goes for the Deep Purple and Rolling Stones songs. They picked more noteable songs from the artist over songs that I think would have been better/more fun for the game.
I like that they made the fretboard clear so it is easier to see the notes coming, but the blue for the star power is distracting, as is that side to side swipe thing that it does now. They also seemed to "hide" the star power meter and your rock meter. So now it is harder to see how much star power you have, and where you stand on the whole pass/fail thing. I like the concept of the extra stars for the extra achievement things that they put in individually on each song, but I think I need to see more of them to better judge how interesting they really are. The one song I did had one about using the whammy for a certain amount of time. It just didn't feel natural and was almost kinda annoying and not all that interesting to try for,so if they are all similar to that, then that new feature might not be all that interesting.
Overall, I am going to rate this one below all the other Guitar Hero games that I have, and that is solely based on the setlist. Just not that interesting overall.

I find it odd that you can use cheats in your career and it doesn't affect anything. Like auto kick on drums and making all single notes into tap notes.
