I'm torn over the special edition .. On one hand that facehugger looks awesome, but based on what has happened with the GTA IV set, and then again with the Halo 3 set, I can't help but worry that it will be < $40 in a short amount of time.

Kind of wish there was some kind of bonus with the game. Still it sits at 59.99 with nothing
that is not normal amazon pricing.

Re: Aliens vs. Predator
Just downloaded the demo on PS3, loaded it up and searched for a game three different times for like 5 minutes each and found nothing. I guess nobody else is playing it yet I'll have to wait until later to give my impressions.

Re: Aliens vs. Predator
it worked for me. Cant really judge the game because I only played as the alien, but multiplayer as the alien is hard! controls take a while to get used to but, its hard to get where you want to, since you can climb on the walls and cielings. for a twitch type gameplay playing as the alien doesnt work well. I think the alien probably plays better in the single player campaign because those levels require more stealth.
Visuals were pretty good and I want to play as the marine and predator. I think this game is gonna be a better single player then mulitiplayer.

Playing as the Alien in multiplayer in AvP2 was the jam. You could hide in a vent, wait for someone to walk by, then scurry down, smash through their head with your inner jaws, and scramble back up before anyone knew what was happening.

Tried once more just now, it was looking for 7 other players found none. I guess I'll have to wait to try it which is annoying as I'm REALLY excited to see if it lives up to my expectations. If it does, this may be a day 1 buy for me.

Been watching the demo being streamed live on jtv. General consensus is that it looks great, and handles pretty well. But theres a lot of frustration at the lack of any instructions or a tutorial. Would come in handy especially for the Predator.

As a hardcore AvP 2 player, I'm initially disappointed with the Alien controls. I'm sure with the final game, the single player campaign will teach you the finer points, but the multiplayer game is frustrating as there are certain walls which you can't run on. The grab function could have used an explanation.
The Marine portion I played as was quite fun and it's hilarious mowing down other marines blindly using their lights. The motion tracker is dead on and adds to the suspense.
I've yet to play as the Predator, which was my favorite class in AvP 2, so I'm hoping it's as good if not better than I remember.

Re: Aliens vs. Predator
I wish there was a single player demo. That's the part I'm looking forward to playing. I wasn't impressed with the multiplayer. I hate jumping into an MP session without any previous training/tutorial. I tried it out, and just ended up frustrated.
A good demo will often convince me to pre-order the game. This demo makes me want to wait for reviews (and maybe a pricedrop).

I haven't played it yet but I generally agree with you. Demo single player.

Also, I thought I would get sea sick from running onto wall/ceilings/floors as the alien, I found it really difficult to keep track of where I was spatially. My other complaint would be that the game is dark, dark, dark! I know that's how it's supposed to be, but there was a lot of the time that I was a marine that I couldn't see anything at all. Couple that with not knowing the maps, and it was bad times.

Played as the predator in the Xbox Live MP Demo yesterday. It's definitely fun but, as it's been said, it's just not so much fun being dropped into a warzone being clueless about the controls. I must've been killed 50 times yesterday just trying to figure everything out. A single player demo would have been nice to include methinks. I'll pick it up on release day but, I've had my full of MP action for a while.

Re: Aliens vs. Predator
It took me literally 10 minutes to connect to a match. I was an Alien with absolutely no clue what I was doing. I stayed disoriented the entire time. I had no clue if i was on the ceiling, the floor, the wall, in a vent, etc.... I know the setting is supposed to be dark, but it was way too dark for a MP match. When i saw somebody i just ran up to them and starting mashing buttons hoping for the best. I think the Alien will be cool to play with once you know what you are doing. Since I had such an issue connecting to matches, I only played that once. I do wish it was a single player demo, that is what I am buying the game for.

Re: Aliens vs. Predator
I don't know about this one now after playing the MP demo. I loved AvP2's MP to death! It was such great fun. However this one didn't grab me like I thought it would. I was able to play as both the Marine and Alien (after waiting 15 minutes for it to find a match!). Marine was pretty standard and like I remembered. Playing as the Alien was what seemed really different. I think they slowed the Alien down from AvP2. Also, it was hard to get used to the controls especially when I wanted to run on the walls/ceiling. I don't know, maybe my brain is still trained to play this with the keyboard/mouse.
Either way, I'm not going to preorder this now. Will wait for the reviews.
