again, it defeats the purpose of having a mobile profile.
YOU DO IT ONCE. Again what the hell is the big deal?

Back to Mass Effect part one, I was playing today, and I was on
Spoiler:
Ilos. So I get there, shoot some Geth, shoot more Geth, drive the Mako through the tunnel, shoot more Geth, have a lengthly conversation with the Vigil AI or whatever, leave, shoot more more Geth, drive the Mako again, shoot some more Geth, see a cut scene, drive the Mako again, shoot some more Geth, and then, after all that...

I see I have 20 seconds to enter the conduit. Fuck. I drive straight for it, and just miss hitting it.

Game over.

No big deal, it probably auto saved me.

Nope.

I had to start. All. Over. From the beginning of Ilos.

Total fucking bullshit. The game auto saves so much, and it can't fucking do it at a crucial point?

Hurry, the conduit is closing.

Fuck you.

I am so pissed I might not play again for a few days.

dude, no need to yell. we are all pals here. perhaps our problem is one of semantics ...

my problem is that i am not clear what is meant by "profile". if it is the data associated with one of my playthroughs, no worries. but if by "profile", they mean gamertag, then that is problematic as that is what i keep i keep on my MU exclusively. i checked through numerous forums last night on the bioware site (wow, what a horrid presentation is a message board) and neogaf. i still am not clear on this issue.

Not sure why this isn't clear to you. The "Profile", whatever it means, needs to be on the console ONLY when you do the import. Like I said, you only need to do it once.

Yeah I really hate that part. The same thing's happened to me too. I guarantee they improve the autosaves in the sequel. Even the Bring Down the Sky DLC had frequent autosaves.

Happened to me in that same spot. My problem was the game locked up and bumped me out to Windows. At least that section is not as long as a couple of others - one of which I had to replay all 3 hours of once.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

xbox magazine gave it a 9.5......knocked it for repetitive aspects when it comes to small planets, just like the first game, and that the side stories were better than the main story. It is much more a shooter this time, and leveling up sounds less RPG...which upsets me. Also, loot is almost gone this time around, another knock. Sounds amazing though....

oh and no XP for kills....just finished missions...

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

I think I am going to pick this up next week instead of waiting for the eventual GOTY super-bundle. The $60 TRU gift card I plan to get from TRU tomorrow makes it about $40 net. Plus it just looks incredible and I loved the first.

The new XP structure seems to help control the experience. Won't affect me much since I will do all the side quests first anyway.

I'm desperately trying to finish Dragon Age before this arrives. I went for the CE myself just for kicks.

I'm over 20 hours and still have a lot of the main quest to do. I get obsessed with the side stuff even though much of it is repetitive in the game. The planet landings remind me a bit of one of my favorite games, Star Control 2.

I'm enjoying Mass Effect now that I finally got around to playing it. Love the story and that makes up for all the issues this game has. I can't believe a game with so many warts got so many perfect 10s. I have had many issues with frame rate, screen tearing and game freezes. I've even got stuck in rocks and walls and had to reload a save.

Not to mention the frustration with instant death things during missions or while fighting those stupid Thresher Maws.

Overall though it is a great game and I definitely want to finish this and play the 2nd one. I just heard so much about it being one of the best games ever made that I was shocked to find out it wasn't even close.

So Amazon is only offering the $10 gift card with the regular edition? The CE is $70, so what's the real bonus now that justifies spending the extra $25?

The same that led you to justify an extra $15?

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

Amazon does this with special editions a lot....they did this with Dragon Age as well. Why give the discount on a special edition that will sell out anyway? The regular edition, the more they sell the better, so they promote that one.

Actually, I never looked at the regular edition price. I figured it was just an extra $10.

What made you go for the CE?

I'm a sucker

I don't know, I was debating the same thing when Amazon had the pre-order credit added on their page. I just really liked the first game and felt that I would dig the little extras and the in-game bonus.

I think the cover alone was a big thing for me. The artwork is so basic, yet so cool for some reason

I thought the same The normal cover looks like ass, but the CE is pretty slick.
