Along the lines of this discussion, I haven't started ME2 yet, but for those of you that have played, is it worth it for me to go back and take my level 50 ME1 character for a 2nd playthrough to get to level 60? I see the experience and credits additions listed above, but will it make my playthrough more enjoyable?

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

I don't think so, no. It only really helps in the race to the Level 30 cap on 1 playthrough.

But you do, obviously, get to start out with more skill points to spend in the beginning. The enemies scale to your level, so you're not going to power through the beginning or anything.

My imported character was at level 48 and was just fine. If you played as a paragon, making sure your meter was full would be the only thing I'd worry about since there are missions where having the paragon option in the conversation can determine whether or not the characters will be loyal to you.

I'm going to start a renegade playthrough. Is it possible to play it renegade and still have everyone loyal to you?

which is why i am now scouring the galaxy for opportunities to obtain more paragon points before
Spoiler:
the endgame is initiated.
i've played as a paragon pretty much without exception throughout the game, but i now have a loyalty issue which can only apparently be resolved with
Spoiler:
max paragon points - damn you miranda. i thought we were doing pretty well together.

I wish you could name your saves! I went back and redid a mission so I could use a different convo option. between the autosaves and my saves, I keep trying to reload the wrong one, since based on the save times, they are within a minute or so lol

I figured that out the hard way, imported a level 28 who was 29 by the first planet, and went in not using any cover since I figured I'd just mop floor with those guys. Turned out I was the mop.

So yeah, my 2nd import of a different ME1 character resulted in me starting with 52,500 of each element and 320000 credits, along with the talent I got to choose.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

huh? you got a loyalty talent for importing from me1?

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

finally finished it...

Spoiler:
Everyone survived but Garrus and Jack. I sent jack to escort the doctor and the rest of the crew to the Normandy (she wasn't loyal since I picked Miranda so I figured I would send her lol) and she didn't make it. Garrus died at the door where the person from your team makes the Biotic barrier to get you thru the reaper swarm.

Is there something I did wrong at those two points? I think Garrus died because it seemed I took to long to get thru the corridor, but not sure how or why Jack died.

Any ideas? Wondering if I should restart the mission to make different choices to see if I can avoid that...

Well, I feel completely retarded. I've been frustrated because two save files showed up but I couldn't import the second one...well the damn thumbstick doesn't work to move down, you have to use the D-Pad.

On the off chance there may be other mentally challenged people that were having the same issue... :o

Apparently just the 2nd time? Kind of strange, i'm not sure if it triggered because I finished the game once.

Are you sure you were importing an ME1 character and not your ME2 character?

^^

Yeah, I'm starting a new game with another ME1 new character save and its offering me a bonus power to choose.

Yeah, Ginwen reported the same earlier too. Kinda cool. I got to pick a power (Reave in this case, hearing people say how much they liked it earlier)

Finished the game last night. Wonderful. I was surprised that I didn't get to level 30 though... I did EVERYTHING.

can't believe how easy this game is. It is even easier than ME1 and ME1 was not exactly hard either. I've been playing Vanguard so maybe this class is overpowered? My strategy is to use Overload/Concussive shot to take out their shield/armour (if they have any) and then I just stay in cover and spam those bowling balls (shock). Shock is overpowered IMO. it goes thru all obstacles so you don't need a line of sight. Manytimes i do not even fire off a shot from my gun.

This game looks amazing and this has probably been answered but I don't want to dig through 30+ pages. Do I need to play the first on to get into this one?

Thanks

No, but the consensus is your experience playing 2 won't be as good if you don't play the first.

You can always up the difficulty if you want. In my vanguard playthrough i used shock all the time too. Not too damaging but will knock guys out of cover so your teammates can finish em off.

I think the improved combat mechanics and cover system have a lot to do with the game being easier. That and they added an additional difficulty level between normal and hardcore.

Re: Mass Effect 2 - 360 and PC

i just finished two runs at the final level - both with miranda unloyal (following her fight with jack) and tali as the LI. on my first run
Spoiler:
garrus led the secondary teams both times, tali went through the vents, samara was the biotic, grunt escorted the survivors and miranda/thane were my teammates the whole way through. in the end miranda was covered with debris and died.

on my second run
Spoiler:
grarrus led the secondary team both times, tali went through the vents, samara was the biotic, grunt escorted the survivors and samara/thane were my teammates in the first half (with tali in the vents), and tali/thane were my teammates for the second half. in the end, tali was covered by debris, but survived, leaving me with a save with everyone alive.
