The CE guide is 300+ pages. The walkthrough part (no sidequests, extras, etc) goes from page 41 to 225. So almost 200 pages of main game. Take it for what it's worth.Originally Posted by nodeerforamonth

Anyone can rush through a game. I usually take what people say it can be finished in, and multiply by two or three, and that's my total.
So maybe 20-21 hours?
My first full run through ME1 took 30+ hours.
I take my time, look at everything, listen to all npc's and don't skip any cutscenes or dialogue.

Like in ME1, some systems don't even show up until you have something to do there.
I can't say definitively that a planet will always have it's anomaly when you first get there, but I think that's the intent.

I just checked the guide, and it looks like there's maybe twenty or so "N7" missions, which are the anomaly scans or the "I found a datapad that says go here" missions. Maybe half involve scanning planets.
I wish there was more, but maybe they beefed up the main story instead.
The more I play, the more I want to kick EA in the throat for fucking up a good thing. If there's ever a Jade Empire 2 or KOTOR III, I wonder how bad they'll mess that up

Most reviews i've read have mentioned the game being over 20 hours.
Meanwhile, I don't see any reason to think EA interfered with the production of the game.

ME1 took me about 20 hours, and while I was thorough with the main missions, I either rushed through or didn't do side quests (mostly after I realized how lame they were). ME2 is supposed to be longer, with better side missions, so I'm sure it hovers around 30 hours. Tell your friend to get bent.Originally Posted by nodeerforamonth

I figured as much. Probably will take me 50 hours. With 2 disks of content and no one bitching about the length of the game (unlike CoDMW2), I know it has to be more than 6-7 hours.Originally Posted by slop101

OMG HOLY SHIT!
I don't know what triggered the coversation, but at some point you have a conversation with Mordin...
And, of course, wikipedia already has it listed on the original article!

I know this game is a lot less customizable with guns and such but I have a question. Do I need to buy the different weapon upgrades AND research them? Cause in the last game, I would think I would be re-buying some of them, however, this game is a lot more simple. I do in fact just need to mindlessly buy everything in the stores on top of finding upgrades in the missions? Is this correct?

I just finished the game. The ending is interesting.
I'm playing it through a second time with another character that was the complete opposite of this playthrough, so that should be fascinating.

Just wondering, because I don't want to waste my money if it's only going to get me 6 hours of playing time.

I've got about 13 hours in and I'm just now starting to feel like I'm making a dent in it.
I really don't see how anyone could beat the entire thing in 6 hours and fully enjoy the game.
The gametrailers review said you could get 26-40 hours out of it.

Did most of the side quests as well as the main one. I didn't use any external guides to play the game with, save one or two instances. I had the subtitles on, so I skipped through dialogue fairly quickly, which probably decreased my total gametime by an hour or two. I think my total playing time was around 27 hours.Originally Posted by nodeerforamonth

You can finish the game, restart with the same levels/character and make different decisions, or continue to play after the ending and still have stuff to do (similar to GTA).

I just picked this up and went to import my character. I forgot that I had named her "Femputer."

Jesus Christ! The game's not even been out for a full three days. To finish it in 30 hours over two days, you pretty much have to just play the game and maybe sleep and do nothing else.Originally Posted by DGibFen

So far so good. The story seems to be chugging along at a decent pace and the game is as smooth as silk. However, if I end up having to go to fifty generic worlds that look the same I'm going to chuck this disc out a window.
I also like how they replaced the elevator sequences with a loading screen which shows...your elevator moving.

For ME1
I've got a question about opening the crates, lockers and boxes. I haven't been able to open a single one using the "manual" method by hitting the right button when it comes up. Is there some trick to this. I swear I'm hitting one in one second and still no success.

What does everyone think of the mining component from scanning planets? Pretty frigging boring if you ask me, though the research that becomes available from the materials makes it worth it.
Oh, and my favorite squad right now is Jack and Grunt. Still have like 4 other characters to unlock though.

The scanning is a bit tedious. If the cursor moved faster while scanning it wouldn't be too bad. I still suffer through it to get the upgrades.
My squad is "Archangel" and Mordin. I still have 3 people to unlock but I doubt I'll change the lineup much.

I just got the Grunt so I haven't had a chance to use him. Jack and Zaeed have been a good combo for me so far.

i haven't really picked a true team yet. i tend to use Archangel more since he's got the sniper rifle, but I mix in most of the other people on missions.

Not sure how many are playing Infiltrators, but I love the changes to the sniper this time around. The few seconds of slow-mo addition is fantastic!

I'm still on the first disc, did maybe 10 sidequests.
I don't understand how you could skip dialogue even with the subtitles on. Half the fun is hearing the voice actors do their lines.
