Looks like a fun space fighter/space sim game. Metacritic has been pretty favorable, and I've liked what I've seen via youtube videos and twitch streaming, anyone have any first hand experience?

It's on my radar, but I'm afraid I'd need to get a joystick to get the most out of it. Mouse and keyboard wouldn't cut it. Wonder if that's the case?

I'm still in the "setup" phase. I picked up a Saitek X-55 for it and Star Citizen, but I haven't really had a chance to dive into it and properly configure everything.

You definitely wouldn't want to play it with a mouse and keyboard. Xbox 360 controller is okay to play with, but you'd need to supplement it with a keyboard for some seldom used actions.

It seems really neat so far, but it's really easy to get lost/confused, since it's such an open ended sandbox game. I want to see if someone put together a good "newbie" guide for it.

I tried using an Oculus Rift I borrowed from work, and wow, the head tracking ability for a game like this is down right incredible, and gives a player a huge advantage. I can see why people like using the TrackIR setup with this game, and the Rift takes it to another level. I'm really looking forward to playing games like this (and racing sims) when the consumer Rift is finally released.

Elite: Dangerous is coming to the Xbox One this summer and other platforms (Mac, PS4, more?) down the road.

Anyone still playing this? I bought the pre-release back in November and have been playing on and off since. hopefully the devs. can add more to the game in the future.
