I assume there is somewhere we enter account information. Or is each disc hard coded to specific accounts?

The first time you stick in the disc, it gives you a code that you have to enter online at Netflix. I just tried it out, and it looks fantastic in high def. Takes a few seconds after inserting the disc, and then after you select a movie, maybe 10 seconds to buffer. The only drawback I saw is that scrolling through the movies is a lot slower than with the 360, takes a while to go through the movies, especially with 150 or so in my instant queue.

I'm a bit disappointed that it just came in a sleeve, but meh it was free. On the plus side though I found a use for that rock revolution I bought for 2.50 at best buy like 6 months ago that I've never played. Needless to say it is now in a sleeve while the netflix is in a ps3 case. I knew that case would come in handy one day for 2.50 (which is what I bought it for, the replacement case)

I cannot get my PS3 back online. I don't know what else to do. It was working fine. Router hooked up properly, internet on my computer working fine. But my damn PS3 just won't connect anymore. What the hell.

Netflix first impressions:

Good: the images are bigger than 360
Bad: So...slow...so...very...slow

Duplicate post so no one misses out:

Heads-up : The new DLC pack, TEARS OF THE HEXTADON, which is 400 points ($5) on the XBLA Markteplace is FREE on the PSN for two weeks. It's a very small download, 108 KB. PS3 owners, you might want to go ahead and pick it up in case you ever get the PS3 version of the game -- that's what I did.

I had the same problem last week after changing my HDD. Try unplugging your router and modem, wait one minute and plug them back in. That worked for me.

How did you do that? I tried a couple movies that were listed as HD and they looked terrible. I just assumed it was streaming me the SD versions. Yes, I do have BR access on my Netflix account.

It might be the connection speed. I haven't been too impressed with the streaming, but it may be that they're just not giving me a good enough quality version.

To get the HD stream, you have to have some kind of god-like internet download capacity that us 1.0Mbps down don't have. I actually think you have to have 3.0Mbps down to get HD streaming.

For my case, I have 8Mbps download. I only tried watching a couple minutes of two HD programs just to test it out.

Though I haven't actually tested it, Verizon claims I have 50 Mbps download. I actually don't even know how to test it. Shit's fast though.

Maybe I'll give the disk a test run tonight when I get home. But I'll tell you know, it's going to uber-deity-like. Like Zeussian. Only with bigger BALLS.

Warhawk invades the PS3 forum! FTW!

Like six people get it. That's all that matters.

I tried heroes HD and it looked alright, but not phenomenal. I have some of mkv videos that look spectacular, and way better than this. I have a 20 Mbps connection

I feel both honored and sad that I "get" your BALLS. I think the other thread should be retitled "Weekly Warhawk Ballsday Night."

My BALLS are insignificant compered to chess' BALLS.

I was quite pleased with the Netflix disc. The navigation is slower than the 360, but not nearly as bad as I feared. Was only a few seconds for the images to load and I could start looking through the lists. HD streaming worked well even over my Wi-Fi connection and I thought the movies I checked looked just as good as the HD streaming on the 360. I have a 6MB connection and it worked great.

The only downside is the way it outputs 480p content. On the 360 it shows it at the correct aspect ratio. On the PS3 I have to manually change my TV settings so the widescreen content isn't crushed to 4:3. Not the end of the world. I have to do this with my LG Blu-ray player and games on the Wii.

Overall the 360 is better, but the PS3 works great and will be a nice second Netflix player for the house. If I decided not to renew my Gold subscription I could definitely live with the PS3 option.

A note from my buddy "eroc" whose 80GB yellow lighted...thought I'd share:

Guess what.... we fixed our ps3!!!

I found a great youtube video where the guy patiently shows you how to dissamble you playstation, fix the problem, and put it back together. I took Amy and I about 2 hours to do it... although I have about 3 screws left over for some reason???!!! :)

Anyways, to my surprise it worked. The only problem is that upon start-up, it formatted my hdd so I lost all my game data... I guess i'll start backing up....

Too avoid this situation again, i move my ps3 open area... hopefully the problem won't return. some bloggers said they had it come back after a few months and other said it hadn't... .guess we'll see.

All you need is heat gun (which i borrowed), basic screw driver set, a compound called silver thermal compound. The process included cleaning, then heating components on the mother board, then reapplying the thermal compound....

Here's some pics of the event!

Later!!!

here the youtube link:

I noticed that the "Display" button on the PS3 remote works during Netflix streaming to see the bitrate. I tried it during an episode of 30 Rock, and saw it stay mainly in the 4 to 5Mbps range, some dips down to 2 and some peaks up near 6. With a standard def show, it was mostly around 1.5 to 2.5 range.

Wish my DL was faster, even the smallest PSN updates take a while. And as far as HOME goes, don't ask.
