The stupid thing is that the PS3 doesn't recognize NTFS drives. So I can't use my 1 TB drive at all with my PS3 - not even to back it up.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
You just need a third-party format tool, because Windows' built-in tool limits you to 32GB. I use this one: http://tokiwa.qee.jp/EN/Fat32Formatter/index.html

You might be able to play each other. You won't hurt anything to try, but a lot of online games are set up so that only one activated system can be active online at a time. There's usually a 24hour time window.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Alright, thanks everybody. My hard drive is FAT32, so I'm going to try it and see if I can figure it out.

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
So, I think I already know the answer, but... is it true that ALL new PS3's sold today, regardless of the size of the HD are =NOT= backwards compatible with PS2 games?

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Finished Demon's Soul today. I didn't expected it to be my kind of game but in the end it was very enjoyable. A tiny, tiny bit frustrating now and then. ;)

Yes, that is true. The only PS3's that were ever BC with PS2 games are the 60 and 20 GB launch models, and the 80GB models which were bundled with MotorStorm and MGS4, all of which are discontinued. No current models can play PS2 games.

List doesnt include the Slim version. For what I understand, all 4 USB port models are PS2 compatible |

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
If you live near a Fry's, or in the Bay Area, this weekend Fry's is a having a really good deal.
Infamous for $40 and then you get Uncharted 1 for gratis. Yep, both games for $40. |

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
My PS3 was stolen 7 months ago. I'm planning on finally getting a replacement Slim in a few weeks. (I waited on a price drop since a BD60 was thrown in when I replaced the TV.)
Can I download the Rock Band content that I previously purchased (for free, of course)? (I assume I can re-download most of the other PSN games that I bought.) |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Yes, as long as the person who stole your PS3 didn't manage to change your account credentials.

Apparently the shittiest "Rock Band" related issue is that I have to start a new "band" since the old one is permanently tied to the old console. (Which seems a little baffling if that is because of a DRM issue; it seems like the songs themselves would be issue.) Disappointing, but that's not a huge deal to me since my "band" sucked anyway. My old GH3 controller was also stolen and I need to figure out the best way to get another wireless PS3 guitar controller. The GH5 controller/guitar combo is fluctuating in price on Amazon, but it seems fairly reasonable. Both of my PS3 GH and RB games were stolen and I enjoy both games. I need both a controller and some software, but definitely a RB game since almost all of my DLC is RB. I'm not opposed to buying the GH5 game plus controller and getting an RB game separately if that seems like the most economical way to go. Are PS3 GH controllers still considered "better" than RB controllers? Is there another standalone controller model I should be looking at? Anyone have any recommendations? |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
If you don't want drums, yeah, I'd get a GH bundle and Rock Band. I use a pair of Les Pauls from GHIII and love them. Amazon has GHIII with Les Paul for $37.35, which is pretty darn good.
If you want the newer GH and don't mind spending an extra $40-$50, picking up GH5 is not a bad option either. I also have a Nyko frontman, and it's a nice guitar. My only problems with it are that it takes 3 batteries and it's a bit off balance. Newegg has it for $14.99. |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
I just my ps3 and was wondering if there is a specific kind of hdmi cable that I need? Do any hdmi cable work, and work well?
Thanks, |
Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition
Just get a cheap HDMI cable from Monoprice, they are the best A/V cable company for the price. Here's a 6ft cable for $13:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 You can find all sorts of colors, length and HDMI spec versions in their site. Don't buy one from a big box store as they are there to rip you off. |
