My guess is that it would be better to start on Monday, and I would ask folks to make an effort to not discourage you while you sorted out the controls.

If you are jumping in tonight, I'd recommend at least getting through the tutorials up to the Warhawk.

If you'll send me a friend invite, I'd be happy to set up a map and give you some 1:1 training time...let you shoot me up a bit.

I finished up the tutorials and played a few rounds. I'm still sorting out a few things, but a little practice couldn't hurt.

Sheese, I can't hear anyone. All I get is muffled garb over the headset.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Rough night. Clan games suck unless you have a planned showdown with another Clan. Kind of a mess tonight. Ended up with a mine spammer that chased us from the game... into a new one... and even that ended up being a big pain. The Warhawk clan format is just a mess.

I'll leave the planning up to chess from now on.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

That's why I try to keep it so simple. I encourage folks to rank up and whatnot on their own time, but my goal for Tuesday is to have a friendly (mine free) game with folks who can hear each other and all the online douchbags password protected out.

Flip's headset sounded really good tonight, so I'm looking forward to hearing from him on Tuesday. No "all-talk" tonight, and I really missed it.

DGibFen seems to have played this before...that or he's a really quick study in the Warhawk! Anyway, welcome aboard!

The only person I heard tonight was Flip.

On Tuesdays, you can usually hear Chew, Ed, Ravenous, myself and a few others. In fact, we're dangerously close to getting the communication thing sorted out across the board!

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

You guys were on tonight? I got kicked cause of the booster packs than I saw you sign off flip.

Me and Ween got in on the same game and did a good job kicking some ass. Than by some miracle he got with the team where EVERYONE had a part and flew and I was with the crap. I even had a guy following me around doing nothing. Fuck it pissed me off how imbalanced MY team was.

Chess and DiGibFen (who got stuck on the opposition because I didn't get him a clan invite in time) were on earlier when we were trying to Clan it up. Pretty miserable. I tried to get a DVDTalk-only map set up, but chess dropped off before I could get it up and then I accidentally loaded a Eucadia map with jetpacks... which was when Ravenous and DiGib got knocked out. My bad.

I kept trying to get into you and ween's public game but I couldn't jump it. After about 30 tries I hopped into a CTF game. One guy on our side was absolutely brutal with the dropship. He'd just collect all the guys spawning at base and then we'd all fly around, guns blazing and missiles flying. I got some kind of medal for all those shenanigans... who knows what exactly. After that game ended, I signed off and threw in the towel for the night.

Chess and I wouldn't have been able to hear you since you were on the wrong side of the law in the clan game.

Once you joined the All-Talk DVDTalk game I set up, I noticed the garble garble garble of your headset. If you haven't set it up according to chess' guidelines earlier in the thread, definitely do so. It really seems to help. Is it the original Warhawk headset?

I ordered a cheap one off Buy.com with some rebate a few months back for free and it's still much better than the one that came with the game.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Here's my settings again for those interested...will also add to OP.

PS3 Audio Device Settings under Accessories:

Level: 3
Input: Headset
Output: Headset (sending through TV/Receiver will cause echo)

In-Game Audio Options: (these will save for future games)

Music: 0% (I originally turned it off so I could hear mines)
SFX: 100%
Voice: 100%
Sensitivity: 30% (adjust until ambient effects don't regularly activate {light up} your mic)
Open mic: checked (great if your mic settings are good, annoying if they're not)
Stereo: checked (recommend playing through TV at low volume)

I actually just kind of wanted to watch the basketball game. The games were getting interesting, but I don't generally like playing with random online people.

No, it's a headset I've had for two years. I'll try chess' guidelines.

I did finish the game tutorials and a couple of rounds before jumping in last night. It doesn't seem too hard, my problem is getting the feel of the analog sticks - I've played PC games so long I'm more used to the mouse/keyboard combo.

I did have fun - I figured some of the people weren't DVDTalkers when I saw a myriad of mines - but it was good practice. Look forward to tomorrow night!

I'll be a late arrival tomorrow night. Pens' game starts at 7:30. So don't nobody go nowhere.

Two questions for tonight:

1) Are we doing the "check your headset" lobby at some point?
2) Is all-talk going to be off?

First map.

No, I'm gonna stick with it for now. We still spend the first hour or so with 4 people, which can get pretty quiet. If/when we get to a point where we have a consistent 6-8 in the first half-hour, I'll kill the all-talk.

I was toying with the idea, but jumping in the Sunday game without it just wasn't as enjoyable.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

You know, I could also load a 5 minute map at the midpoint for soundcheck and bathroom breaks....

I'll definitely do that.

Awwww....just when we got your headset sorted out!

Maybe when they're down 4-0 at the end of the first period, you can switch over.

Cool.

Taking requests for maps and modes! Be specific (which map, which mode, which version).

It's really too bad I'm still not in college with the dual television setup in my dorm room streaming sports and video games (and sometimes video games and video games when we hooked up the PS1 and the Genesis).
