I would say that Halo is only slightly more interesting than Call of Duty...and that's not saying much.

I don't know. I think Halo looks pretty fun. Like CoD, it has a brutal online community, but the game itself looks pretty fun. Vehicles and jetpacks = fun.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Strange night. We lost several folks when my internet crapped out. It's the first time I recall that happening.

Lots of silliness in a couple of shorthanded maps and a pretty fun wrap-up with me and Hudson trying to take on Slider, Cruz and Nic (that's a lotta douche!!!) on Grinder. We held our own though.

Fun games, but not a lot of memorable stuff for me...maybe a couple of ballings on Nic and Cruz. The online hiccup really threw me off...having to rush to reload maps and then losing people in the process. Still good times though.

And Infected was fun until it crapped out. Eventually, we'll figure out how to team up early in that one and fight off the Infected for a bit.

Edit to add: Big THANK YOU to digi for sitting out the last bit of the snow map.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

had some funny moments on the infected. First I find a hiding spot and slider comes over to taunt me. He then team kills me. I find another spot near the water, someone finds me, so I jump in the water to kill myself. After that I found a dumpster to hide in and Sean finds me, but he can't see me. I think he just saw my name. He stands there for 2 minutes just looking at me. He even jumped on top of the dumpster.

I'm happy everyone enjoyed my musical interlude while I played chicken with a Warhawk.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

That would be me who found you, ran around you trying to kill you and then killed myself after you killed yourself.

I was looking for Slider and when he started running around in a jeep I douchily places some mines in a tunnel. I camped out and sure enough here comes Slider in his jeep. BOOM! There goes Slider and his jeep in a vertical direction.

Grinder was great. I enjoy an occasional mindless douche fest.
I enjoy griefing the ususal suspects even though most of the time it doesn't work as well as planned. As long as I get a good laugh its all good. (especially when we were playing Warhawk peek-a-boo in cramped quarters, under a road behind some pillars - I chased someone [flip/friz?] and unloaded all my ammo for a couple of minutes under a roadway while they ran around some pillars - good times - @ my horrible aim)

Nope, that was me (and that was the musical interlude).

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I'm at a point where I really like Infected, and it's good to see some funny stuff going down. I had a great hiding spot when my internet crapped out. The only thing I'm not sure about is weapons limitations for the infected. I'd like to let the blue guys drive jeeps, but I pretty much need a rocket launcher to make that work.

Couple of funny things came to mind:

- On Tau Crater, Flip snipes me while I'm trying to binoc Chew...and says something funny.
- On the Grinder douche-fest, I binoced the binoc spawn point while nic was grabbing them.
- Driving Hudson around on the jeep while he shot bitches up. "I'm an excellent driver"
- Trying to run over a jetpacked Cruz with my Warhawk
- Slider got me hiding in a bunker with the biofield on Archipelago
- I died in the process, but I balled Slider's Warhawk in a tunnel on Island Outpost
- Teamkilling Nic
- "Douchapotamus"
- "Baaaawwwwwwlllllllllllllllllssssssaaaaahhhhhhh!"

I think next week another big Death Match map is in order. I really like the more deliberate, less twitchy gameplay...just as a change of pace.

Double tap the boost (R2?) to charge and then release when the little bar on the bottom goes full.

IIRC, it was "Suuuuuuuck 'em." But it's better accompanied by the visual of your falling corpse.

I'm wondering if X/Undying/Klingen/Klingon didn't know the password to get in? He was online for a bit, but didn't join us.

Nice.

It was less funny to me at the time because I was having issues. I guess the ground I was on wasn't sufficiently stable or something because I couldn't get my binocs to work. It was doing the same thing that it does when you try to do it while hovering with the jetpack. So it basically just gave away my position and accomplished nothing else.

Anyway, good kill.

Asked him to read the OP...figured he'd pick it up there.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

BTW/FYI:

APCs are officially fair game for TOWs (suck it), and APCs getting wrenched by wrenchy douchenuggets are definitely getting TOWed...even if it's just on principle.

See, we can make up our own rules too.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I would assume a shielded APC would still deflect the TOW?

The only vehicle vs Warhawk match-up I feel "safer" in than my tank is that APC.

Oh, and Hudson is no "newbie": he got free of a couple dead-to-rights locked turret shots last night.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Flip has his TOW-for-binoc rule and Steve allowed himself to douche it up in the last minute of K&N, so it wouldn't be unprecedented, but I'm not talking about just me...anybody can do it.

APCs really do break our no-mines/no-TOWs game since tanks can't keep up with them and nothing else can really hurt them except for TOWs. Maybe a jeep if you have 2 guys in it?

The only other option is to not load CTF maps on Vaporfield Glacier, which I really don't mind. It has great maps for TDM or maybe even Zones.

Yes.

I actually think your odds are better in the jeep than the tank if you're doing it right, but yeah...the APC absent the TOW is virtually invulnerable...particularly if you have a wrench and/or know where the gears are along the way.

Yes, he is formidable in the air...probably about as good as Flip.

All that jeep flipping I've been subjected to begs to differ.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

If we're doing big maps and both teams have fair and quick access to their own APC then I don't see what the big deal is.

Use lightning to break the shield and then ball the heck out of it...Done

Also, to Slider's point...the other team has APC's too...it is not the fault of the team using them if the other team doesn't bother using them as well. On the big maps I think APC is mostly required to be there as jeeps and tanks are too easy to take down over that distance with our numbers.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

You guys would never believe it but I've put 10-12 HOURS into Warhawk including last night. I'm going to chalk up my performance last night to wild, blind, nOOb luck. I expect to improve remarkably playing a great bunch of ass clowns such as yourselves.

Seriously though, I had great fun last night getting my ass handed to me on a silver platter. I will definitely be back as I am a glutton for punishment. I'm sorry about dropping in and out, but I have threee kids with staggered bedtimes and I need about 20 minutes foR each of them.

My fave part of last night was standing on one of the CTF maps (don't remember which one) looking off into the distance, surveying the battlefield and promptly being run over by my own teammate. It was a pretty profound experience.

My only request next week is that around 7 MST we play the map with all the "floating islands". I think it's called Archipelago or something to that effect.

Ian
