Just jump on the gun before they get to you...only takes about 2-3 seconds of 50 cal to take down a Warhawk.

Also, to Slider's point...the other team has APC's too...it is not the fault of the team using them if the other team doesn't bother using them as well. On the big maps I think APC is mostly required to be there as jeeps and tanks are too easy to take down over that distance with our numbers.
Lightning doesn't break the shield, it only penetrates it. Unless I'm doing it wrong.

Glad to hear that you had fun and look forward to seeing you regularly. You're going to lose your "noob status" very quickly at your current rate!

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

You'll warm up to it.

Acropolis Assault is my single favorite map in the game and has been the source of much hilarity over the past year and a half. Eucadia is my favorite environment (not sure what else to call it) with tons of great maps inside it (K&N on High City, Urban Strike, Valley Battle, Summit Command, Northern Bridge)

For Hudson, Acropolis Assault will start at 8:10 CST (7:10 MST).

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

More on Acropolis Assault:

- Jeeps leaping off of cliffs...usually down to tanks...wheeeeeeeee!
- Flying in and around the structures under the Islands
- I love catching jeeps in mid-air with my Warhawk
- Two different routes to the flag...both cool
- The middle base where all the shit goes down
- Four missile turrets to keep the Warhawks honest
- Flags are simpler to defend than most maps (Chew approved)

It's only easier when there's no jetpacks.

Yeah, I think I like jetpacks more on TDM/DM than I do on CTF.

I agree. I'm just not done rewarding Cruz for buying the DLC...and Shao loves them too.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Why don't you just load up Rumble Dome with some jetpacks. That sounds like a great time.

Also for what it's worth... I don't understand why the APC is some kind of indomitable force. It's just hard in a Warhawk. Get our of your damn bird and get a in tank, bastage. They're slow and they take forever to recharge (shield and boost). The TOW an APC rule is stupid. I have the binoc = TOW rule but that never figures into a tactical advantage. It all started that night I got binoc'd five or six times on the same map and I declared fucking war. I have to live up to my promise now... but the thing is I take myself out of the game for my personal vendettas. TOWing an APC directly contributes to the ebb and flow of the actual game. Each team has equal and fair access to their own APCs. We stopped the TOWs because not everyone could wield the Warhawk/TOW... and the non-fliers were taking it up ass.

Because I can't load jetpacks on the snow or factory maps...or was that supposed to be sarcasm.

An APC with a wrenched passenger is utterly and completely unstoppable. Period.

I suspect they made it so fast (not sure where you got the idea that it's slow) and shielded specifically to balance the TOW in objective-based maps. You can take it down with a tank in theory, if you could catch it. And rocket launchers don't lock onto it. If the driver understands the boost and knows where the gears are between bases, nothing in the game can stop it.

I've never saved a flag after TOWing an APC...and both APC-carried flags that I've TOWed were eventually captured. It just makes me feel better. I'll stop doing it for now based on popular demand, but you fucks will eventually see what I'm talking about.

I don't want to suggest that it doesn't have the upper hand, because it does. I just think that most people feel like they're at a similar disadvantage against you in a Warhawk. It's all relative. I don't think any of us are all that effective with the APC to make it that war machine it could be in the hands of someone that knows how to use it. It's like the dropships (which are waaaaay more unbalanced, IMO, than the APCs) -- if any of us really knew how to use a dropship in a capture the flag match, we'd be damn near unstoppable. But we don't. So nobody worries about it because it affects so few maps.

I don't think the APC is all that fast because at the first sign of a Warhawk it drops the shield, rendering it immobile (if it wants to remain protected) -- during which time anybody can invade its space on the ground. Soon as it moves it's vulnerable again. The APC/wrencher combo is vicious. But so is the Flaming Turtle of Death/wrench combo. And in most cases I'd vote for the Flaming Turtle because it's got a cannon too. Everything's got a weakness, everything except digi and we don't TOW him at every opportunity. Generally because he's a good fellow and we don't want to begrudge his talents. We should just use him in some clan match or something so he can unleash fury on other bastards....

...which brings me to a new thought. Why don't we designate one Tuesday a month to a clan match? We never tried this but many of us are decent enough to make a go of it. And the change of pace might be fun. All being on the same team and whatnot, fighting the good fight...

Have you really played online outside of our circle? It's ugly out there.

I suppose if we played randoms we might do OK...and there could be a trophy or two in it.

We'd be limited to 10 though, and I can't remember the last time we got less than 12 in the game at some point.

I played out there a little bit recently. It wasn't as horrible as I remember. We've been doing this for how long and we've never tried a clan match of any kind? Clearly we'd go after some randoms because I don't think we're prepared to take on a real clan. I think there are some trophies for those interested.

You have my attention. Even though it is a scary super douchey world out there in pub matches.

But you'd adapt so well.

There are three clan trophies. Leading a 10-person clan, joining a clan and winning a clan match.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

I'm game and think it would be fun to go out there and douche it up, but I'm hesitant to lock anybody out of our Tues game or break momentum.

Would you guys be interested in doing it another night? Wed/Fri perhaps?

HMMMM... that's a bold propisition but it has its merit's since it would not interupt the weekly game. I know the CoDers have unofficially adopted Monday nights as a public match night as an opportunity to level up and unlock weapon attachments. We typically have a slightly lower turnout but it is still fun. I think a night like this as part of the rotation nights might be fun. It can't hurt to try it. Especially since turnout on some of the rotation nights has been kinda week lately.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

We need 10 committed/decent players for a Wednesday run:

- Friz
- Digi
- Chew
- Flip
- Ktown (probably)
- Nic
- Slider
- Cruz
- Hudson
- Shao (???)
- R2

Who am I not thinking of? Brian maybe? Would love to see a return of Z for this one...or R2 even.

Or I could limit it to 8-8, 6-6, etc.
