Yup...probably 3rd or 4th round. I usually start with a couple of DM "lobbies" to give folks time to wander in.

...and yes, you can be killed with your own mine, which is useful to know if you're playing with people who spam them.

Sorry guys - my connection to the game conked out on me three times. My network connection was at 92%, so I don't know what went wrong. I did have fun playing the Acropolis - sorry for sniping you, tlwizard!

Got to play a little more tonight than usual which was nice. So thanks again everyone, it was more than enjoyable.

Frizby, you sounded a little frustrated tonight. Hope everything was cool.

Maybe a bit...felt overwhelmed a few times. I'm probably just being a bitch over work or something.

It's probably a good thing, actually, because it means you guys are getting better.

Overall, I had a good time...especially that last DM...funny stuff.

Gotta say though...I hated hero mode...at least on that map.

Sorry chess. I was on your team a few times, but when you can't fly, haven't mastered "offensive" driving, and can barely aim (even with auto-aim).....defense is about all I can do.

Although, being on foot and double-teamed by a jeep and a tank isn't much of a defense.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

Had a great time last night. I was feeling a little more confident in my abilities... except when chess kept dropping those spiky balls and somehow managed to cram them into my bunker on a flyby. That's when I was thinking about how I had a long damn way to go to be that awesome. I didn't mind Hero mode, but it might have been because I didn't know what was going on and I still managed to be top player. Not sure what the point of the game was. I just liked dropping grenades down the ladders to the floor below.

Added the Survivalist, Collector, and Irony (no clue how I did this) trophies last night. Meanwhile I failed to achieve the only trophy I kept trying to get -- the one about taking down chess, err... I mean a Warhawk, with ground weapons other than the rocket launcher. My weapon of choice was the sniper rifle but I could never get that third shot on him before he zipped out of my scope.

TLwizard, I saw your name on my pending list, but it's possible I input your name incorrectly. I'll check it when I get home tonight. It was pretty funny when guys kept joining the clan last night during game action because the whole screen would go dark grey with the announcement dead in the middle of the screen until I canceled out. And of course, there's never an opportune time to have your entire vision sullied in-game for five seconds or so.

I think we have enough guys to try a clan match this weekend if anyone is interested.

Y'know TL, it was funny when I sniped you because you had a rocket launcher and were crouching still on top of a bunker. You were the perfect target right in the cross hairs - the way your body just slumped off of the bunker was hilarious! I'm glad you had fun yesterday - I wish my Warhawk network connection hadn't crapped out on me or I would have played longer.

Frizby, I actually got frustrated during the initial DM - it's just not my cup of tea, but I try. I have more fun with the other modes where you have to use more strategy - I hope you can get Zones in the rotation. Try Hero with another map next time - I'd suggest Island Outpost.

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

That was fun last night guys, thanks for the games. It is much more fun to play that game with people you will actually be able to play multiple games with...I look forward to hunting frizby with my tank again. Maybe one day I will learn how to fly a warhawk...nahhh

Could someone send me a clan invite? I would be interested in trying to play more often if anyone else is interested, however my game time is generally limited to after 9pm CST.

Just curious - have you guys checked out the Red Faction Guerrilla demo yet? To me, it's like Warhawk except... you can destroy virtually anything!

I love the sniper rifle myself - I got the trophy you're talking about with it! It was pure luck - I sniped an empty Warhawk twice and then someone got in and I took them out with the third shot!

I'll get you a clan invite tonight when I figure out why TLwizard doesn't have his invite. If the Pens lose to the Caps again I'll undoubtedly feel the need to blow some more shit up.

You're pretty good in that tank (note to self: load fewer tank maps!)

I'll try to be a harder target next week. I've gotten pretty lazy over the past couple of months about keeping on the move.

Funniest moment for me last night: Somebody (TLwizard I think) is running along this ridge, and I'm making a cluster bomb run...right before I release, I see the air strike lazer hit him, and he gets hit simultaneously by an air strike and a cluster bomb (two of the more powerful weapons in the game). Talk about overkill!!!

Actually, as low as I was, I was lucky the air strike missed me.

I got the collector trophy at the last minute last night, and I think that was my only new one.

I highly recommend the binoculars for taking down a Warhawk.

And my psn id is tlwizard81.

And I could maybe do a clan match this weekend.

I don't think I've been able to use the binoculars yet. What's the button combo used to trigger the strike?

I downloaded the demo a couple of days ago but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I'm looking forward to giving it a shot. I enjoyed Red Faction.

Zoom in with R3. Then hold down R1 until the green bar fills up.

Cool, lemme know. BTW, watch the videos - I cannot wait to use the singularity mines! They create miniature black holes that suck everything into them!

If you can get a Warhawk to sit still long enough to lase it, you're very patient.

I recommend following a rocket launcher shot with machine gun while staying on the move. The most important thing to do with a Warhawk (whether I'm flying it or not) is to keep moving and be aggressive. I took out two Warhawks with grenades last night just by charging them and combining grenades and machine gun.

...or you can just ask, and I'll let you shoot me for a bit.

Binoculars are those green lasers. Basically you get them, zoom in on an objeect, the green laser steadies on it and then "air support" comes in and blows up the target.

I discovered them about a year into playing the game.

Have you tried to adjust your screen using the Warhawk options menu? Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but it lets you resize the top, bottom, left, and right sides of the screen. I actually had to increase mine because my projector has zero overscan.

No that is not the obvious!

Had no idea about this. I just played for a bit but on my way out now. Will try this next time I play.

And I have joined the clan!

Re: Weekly Tuesday Warhawk night

This reminds me of the other thing that frustrated me last night...I was playing split-screen with my friend for the first 3-4 maps (sorry for the chatter BTW), and my peripheral vision was garbage.
