Did you try any of the in-game tutorials?

So are you saying you do not hit the fret notes (which IS the "color keys") until you strum (not fret) at the same time? Yes, I would recommend holding down the correct upcoming note(s) on the fretboard before you strum....also, get used to using your pinky, it will take a bit of practice since it is the weakest finger, but you will need it once you take on four or more notes....

There are very few celebrities that I actively hate. Toby Kieth is one of them.

Armchair warmonger and all around redneck douchebag.

Plus his "music" sucks.

All in my humble opinion, of course.

I did the tutorials okay on some but then they got harder. And I had the same problems.

I'll try and use that technique. I just can't seem to get into the flow of things.

I strongly disliked Keith and his music, but I interviewed him last year and he was a really friendly, down-to-earth guy who didn't seem happy getting lumped in with right wing blowhards.

But his music still sucks.

Same impression I got when I met him.

That said, it is pretty obvious there is no one on the staff at Harmonix that are country fans.

I have no issue with country music being released on Rock Band...especially because there are some great songs over the years that would play beautifully...but a Toby Keith is just a cheesy, crappy country pack. It is what a non fan of country would pick because they don't know any better.

I have no opinion of Toby Keith or the tracks listed above, but Weed With Willie is a great song.

It takes a while but the more you play, the more second nature the button layout becomes and it starts to program into your muscle memory. Then it will click and you break through the proverbial wall. Everyone hits their own wall, and only repeated play will break you through.

Definitely hold the buttons down before strumming.

Not a technique but I'd recommend getting your hands on either GHII or the original RB disc. They do a far better job of 'teaching' you just by playing through the game.

for Toby Keith. Not sure we needed 6 songs from him though, would've preferred a 6-pack of different country including Keith.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I love having some country and alt-country in Rock Band but i really wish they would do some of the more rebel country (classic or new) rather than the modern pop country.

Give us some:

Johnny Cash
Willie Nelson
Hank Williams
Hank III

Heck, i'd even like some Charlie Feathers.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Screw country, gimme some old rock:

KISS-"God Of Thunder"
Pink Floyd- "Money" or "Hey You"
Judas Priest - "Living after Midnight"
Doobie Brothers - "China Grove"
Wild Cherry - "Play That Funky Music"
Golden Earring - "Radar Love"

Now that's a six-pack!!

Of all my high school alumni to choose from, why Toby?

Love the expansion of the market. Hate this particular artist.

Who else would be better suited...aside from the obvious "who wouldn't"?

Hopefully it's just a prelude for college - where Garth Brooks attended.

Agree completely. I don't *hate* the more modern stuff, but the earlier stuff is much better. Being a farmboy who had a dog Jake growing up in the 90s, I definitely love Should've Been a Cowboy.

And the waitresses at his Vegas restaurant are smokin', so there's always that.

Yeah, FUTK!

(Can we please get some more Dixie Chicks if you feel a need to put out more country, Harmonix? Seriously, lets get a track pack together, with at least two songs from their last album, OK?)
