No need to panic. These songs (if they exist) will find their way onto the Marketplace sooner or later. Look at the "exclusive" OXM tracks from early last year.

Harmonix isn't going to license and chart songs that only a select few (relatively speaking) will have access to.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Ok, for those looking for the achievements for 100% upstrum bass, Hit Me With Your Best Shot has got to be one of, if not the easiest Expert Bass songs around. Love the song, downloaded it last night and decided to play it once before dinner. FC, Goldstar on first try. I am an expert bassist, and have FC, Goldstarred a number of tunes, but this was by FAR the easiest. The whole song is just quarter note strums in the same pattern over and over. Only one section has a change-up in the style and it is an easy change.

In fact, my daughter was watching while I was playing and asked if I was playing on medium....

It can't be any easier than the Beastie Boys tune.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

While we are on the subject, any suggestions for the expert guitar solo using the solo buttons achievement?

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Give It Away is another extremely easy solo. I'd say it's easier than Wave just because there are no duplicate notes.

Go Your Own Way gives you 2 easy solos. I did it on Dirty Little Secret.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

The Pretenders song from this week has an awfully easy solo (starts at 2:20).

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Thanks for the suggestions. I checked out videos for all of them, and I will get the achievement tonight. I almost always play on Hard, but I think I beat the Pixies, RHCP, and Fleetwood Mac songs on Expert before I got the Strat.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

You know you don't have to get 100% on the entire song, hell not even "beat" it, just get 100% on the solo with just the buttons.

Easy solos are good, but so are solos near the beginning of a song in case you mess up you don't have to wait as long to retry. The Pixies one, for example, is a little over half-way through and it comes out of nowhere so you need to be ready for it.

I don't think I'll ever get that achievement. By the time my fingers are aligned on the new buttons the solo is halfway over.

Just ignore the notes leading up to the solo and get your hands in position. You can miss all the non-solo notes.

You can also play the whole song on the solo buttons (strumming the non-solo notes), I think.

I'll try this. Otherwise it takes me 15-30 seconds to get into position. My wife saw me doing this and said it looked like a caveman being handed a guitar for the first time, and trying to figure out what to do with it.

And don't strum a single note in the solo. You have to hit the notes using only the buttons. One strum and the achievement is gone.

Yup that one is very easy too. But I think I would say the Hit Me With Your Best Shot is even easier. Same approx. number of notes. All quarter notes. No major changes to the rhythm. And no fast double notes. At least with the BB song, if you miss your timing on the double notes, you're screwed. As long as you can count to 4 and repeat on HMWYBS, you're gold.

If you're specifically going for the 100% solo achievement, then just play the whole song up to and including the solo on the solo buttons. That's probably the easiest way to do it without fumbling back and forth.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Just remember not to strum any of the notes on the solo part accidentally which is very easy to do.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Anyone else ever try a solo using 2 hands like this?

I used 3 fingers on one hand and 2 on the other. No sliding/repositioning.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Got the guitar solo achievement last night. "Give It Away" was definitely the easiest one for me, because there is a long break before the solo starts. Plenty of time to get ready.

I don't know if you're supposed to use the slider on the GH guitar this way, but I use my right hand to slide...it kinda looks like finger-tapping. By the way, Vai kicks ass!!!!!!
