I can't believe there's no Journey Pack.

Yeah, I would love to get "Ocean Man" (or other Ween songs).

I would definitely put Chicago in the ballad group more than Journey. I think Journey, similar to a band like Muse, has a lot more songs you would recognize but you didn't know it was them.

But Journey does have a ton of power ballads...but also some driven rock.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I don't think Chicago qualifies under the category of power ballad purveyors. I mean when the horn section is the meat of the band, I don't think you qualify as "power" anything.

Chicago was jazzy, sometimes funky, then they got sappy... but they were never powerful... except maybe on "Mama Take." Rock your head off, man.

Its fun on guitar/bass.

Its a pain on drums. Its one of the few songs I have to play Medium to pass.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Even Journey's ballads have some ridiculous guitar solos in them.

As far as their actual upbeat songs that I would like to see, it'd be:
- Only The Young
- Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)
- Wheel in the Sky

We need more SpongeBob!

Best Day Ever is one of my favorite episodes, really funny. I was hoping for the F.U.N. song too, but maybe it was too easy.

Nice - can't wait for the Journey. Probably pass on Benatar and the other weird stuff, but might go for Von Bondies since I am a Rescue Me fan.

I think it's pretty good marketing in that Rock Band has been seen as more of an adult based game. This will attract more familial interaction because of mom and dad's old fart music is counteracted with Spongebob.

Seth's adapter is highly recommended if it fits your situation. I had one for a while, and it worked perfectly -- very configurable. Unfortunately, I (read - the wife) didn't want to keep my e-drums in the entertainment room so I reverted back to the stock kit.

I'd love to get "Who's Cryin' Now?" from Journey if only for the awesome guitar solo.

I'll finally be busting you some RB tonight - first time in a couple months. Pretty pumped to get to all the stuff I've downloaded since then, especially ten!

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

From Teasdale's speech at GDC today:

During his session entitled "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap: Design Lessons Learned from ROCK BAND," Harmonix's Dan Teasdale dropped a bit of information about an upcoming Rock Band 2 update.

According to the designer, user feedback indicated that some players wanted an option to view information on highest stars achieved in the game per song. With that in mind, gamers should expect a game update in the future.

"Just like we did with Rock Band 1's 'World Tour' rebalance," he said, "we're going gto add a way to do this, not just in Rock Band 2, but in our future titles."

The news elicited a tiny, weak-sounding "whoo" from one person sitting in on the session; the game currently only lists high-score information per song. No further details (date, when we could expect the update) were mentioned. Teasdale did, however, call me out for my arm-wrestling skills in not one, but two slides. The gauntlet has been thrown.

I understand the desire to have this information and agree it shouldn't have been removed, but it's always funny to see how big a voice dissent has off the interwebs.

Yeah. But it'll be nice to get (whenever that is). But much like DLC announcements, it only makes me wonder what else is coming along with that addition. Especially with no RB3 in the near future. Good stuff?

The release of Ten has gotten my back into RB2 as well. I haven't put much time into it but I need to start working on my vocal band.

My next goal is beating xmiyux's vocal score...easily and quickly!

^ And is it retro-active? Will it be able to smartly take your existing scores and difficulty and apply the star rating to them?
