Agree, I've been wondering that for quite a while. Hell, Brown Sugar (or was it Start Me Up?) was one of the songs in that "hidden" file found about a year ago.

Can't You Hear Me Knocking was one of my favorite songs to play in GH2, likewise for Gimme Shelter in RB1. And there are so many other songs that would be damned fun. They'd actually be one of the only other bands (aside from The Beatles and Led Zeppelin) that I think deserve their own dedicated games.

It was Brown Sugar. No idea why it hasn't released yet.

This recently popped up at GameStop for $25. It's another stock pedal (RB2 style), but also comes with a splitter for double-bass (that takes 2 AAA batteries) and should offer true double bass action.

It has been confirmed as a real product by HMXHenry, and he says they'll have an official announcement soon. Looks as if PDP slipped it out the door before an announcement could be formed.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I am just way too lazy to break out the camera, take a screenshot, plug in the card reader, save the image, and PM it to you. I appreciate the effort you put into making the challenges, but...the laziness...it always wins.

You could snap one with your cellphone and email it to me. That eliminates the majority of the steps you listed.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Because of laziness, I'm just gonna ask this question instead of looking myself. Let's say I'm doing Challenge #3, can I set up a 3 song setlist, play those three songs, and have the totals show up listing all three scores, plus a total score...or do I have to take a screenshot after each song, like this:

Fear my 1-star score!!!

Preferably, screenshots after each song. If I just have scores, I can't do a "fun facts" type thing like I did last time and give sub-awards to the person with the highest streak or percentage and that kind of thing. I actually find that more interesting than the actual scores.

Hey Shag, I'll try to get #2 done today. Was out of town last week. But I'm with UncleGramps in that laziness may win out more often than not in having to take pictures, get them off my camera, upload them, PM them. And I don't have a cellphone with a camera.

I'm about to do #2 right now! Then I am going to do the 2nd challenge! HAHAH! I crack myself up! Is this thing on?

OK...I have my two pics. How the heck do I attach them to a PM? It keeps asking for a link for images.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I'm guessing the top 5 all played drums or vocals for at least one song. I don't think enough points were there for guitar/bass, even for flashburn.

Yes. Top 3 were Vocals and 4 & 5 were Drums. Having these things be "all instrument" challenges does pose a problem, as certain songs have a distinct advantage on certain instruments. However, I don't want to alienate members who only play one instrument at this point. If I continue to get a good number of entries, then they might come at some point in the future.

Another idea I recently come up with would be a Score Challenge. Take a particular song and try to achieve closest to a set score. It could be interesting. (And yes, I would make it a multiple of 25 for the drummer-only crew).

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Is there a place that tracks the maximum possible top score for every song? If so then the competition could be what % of that top score we each achieve?

I'm not aware of a place that has this. ScoreHero's got a list for that shows the maximum score on a song (sans overdrive). However, with squeezing and proper OD deployment, the ranges are all over the place. I wouldn't want to go with "% of top score", as the leaderboards don't filter by difficulty.

What I was suggesting (at some point) would be something like "Score 178250 on Song X" or something like that. Not necessarily seeing who can get the highest, but who can nail a particular score (or close to it). This would probably involve purposely breaking combo or using/not using OD.

Another idea I had would be to have a "well-rounded" battle where people submit three scores for solo guitar, drums, and vocals for the same song. (Or include bass, but I thought that might give too much of an advantage to the guitar-oriented players.) This wouldn't be a band battle, but rather a solo player tackling the song with different instruments. So, for example, a total score could be comprised of expert guitar, medium vocals, and easy drums.

This is actually something I'm going to introduce in the near future. I'll try to pick a song that's fun to play on all instruments.

To be honest, I was going to participate but then saw something mentioned about vocals being the best shot on these songs, and since I wasn't going to sing them, I figured it wasn't worth it. Oh..and I'm lazy.

I'd be all up for specific instrument challenges (guitar/bass/drum), but I definitely see the issue you point out as well and not wanting to exclude folks.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

How about from now on, if I get over 10 entrants, I break it down into Top 5 overall, and then like Top 3 for each instrument (guitar/bass as one). This would change things a little bit in that people would have to pick the same instrument for all songs, but might get people who want to see their name on leaderboards a little more incentive to participate.
