I should have mentioned that. I only use shuffle anyway, so it was really what makes sense for seeding - for maximum randomness. Shit, I have a degree in computer science and mathematics and I know none of this matters, but it's still something I think about.

I'll probably get everything but All I Want...I like the song, but it's under 2 minutes and looks too tough to be fun (for me). Love Losing My Religion, even though it's kind of easy looking, The Kids Aren't Alright is my favorite Offspring song, and the Thompson song has an awesome (and loooong) solo.

So I had a good laugh the other day...I realized that I needed to calibrate my guitar.
I just moved a couple months ago, and have been playing on a plasma run through a receiver since then. Before I played on a CRT HDTV, and never had any issues. But since moving, I just haven't been able to play very good, figured I was just rusty since I didn't play a whole lot. But I completely forgot about calibrating (never had to with the CRT), and after doing so, I played MUCH better. Moral of the story: I'm an idiot.

I'm in for this week's challenge - should be fun!
My new toy came in yesterday - an ultrawide lens so I'll be having fun with my nikon D90 that also captures video. Before I could barely just get the guitar neck in the frame, with an 11mm lens I can go crazy wide.

Wow, "The Kids Aren't Alright" is a perfect example of a song that should have been in the game from day 1. It just fits so well, and the crowd chants alone with the vocals...just awesome.

Some new juicy little tidbits for us:
Re: Those 3 Best Buy "exclusive" Pearl Jam tracks

Also, Billboard is claiming that Nothing's Shocking should be out sometime this month or early next month.

Included in Pearl Jam's "Ten" album re-release on March 24 will be a redemption code in the CD booklet that will allow fans to download three tracks for the "Rock Band" videogame.
The offer is limited to copies of CDs purchased at Best Buy stores. The free songs include "Brother," "Alive," and "State of Love & Trust."
All three will also be available for purchase from the "Rock Band" downloadable store, along with the entire "Ten" album in March.

“Rock Band” releases new music that can be downloaded to the game every week. Rival “Guitar Hero” does so far more infrequently. Since the beginning of this year, several WMG artists—such as Belly, The Grateful Dead, and The Pretenders, among others—have been added to the weekly download offers. And more are in the pipeline, including the entirety of Jane’s Addiction's “Nothing’s Shocking” sometime in the next month.

Well that kinda defeats the purpose of "exclusive" doesn't it?

I told you "exclusive DLC" doesn't mean shit.
I guess if you want it to be free, that's an exclusive deal with buying the CD through BB. Who knows if they'll fix the little error they had with the Disturbed stuff. They might end up being free for everyone.

I imagine they just mean the code is exclusive to BB copies of the cd. I'm kind of torn on that. I really don't need Alive again and I don't like Brother much, but State of Love and Trust is cool. Since I'll be getting the cd/dvd pack anyway, I might as well get the code. Maybe I can sell it and just buy SoL&T...
Cool about Nothing's Shocking. With 10 songs, what do we expect the package price to be? I have a friend asking and I'm thinking 1280 based on previous 10-track releases (Texas Flood, Dr. Feelgood), but wonder if that's a decent benchmark.

But Alive is already included in the game... so is this a live track they're offering?

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
If there were ever a band that sounded as good live as they do in studio, it would be Pearl Jam.
SOLAT live sounds pretty good to me, but I'd rather just pay the $2 than rebuy Ten again. I think I'm already on my 3rd or 4th copy.

My copy of Ten got FUBAR about 7 years ago and I've been living with 128kb mp3s since. I was getting the whole set anyway to replace it, so this is a nice little $6 bonus.

So, yeah, I'm in for the set and yeah, the RB bonus is nice.

How can that be news to you? You seem like you're pretty in-synch with PJ talking about their awesome liveitude and having owned Ten multiple times over.

Honestly, I'd rather just buy the DVD and the RB tracks if that were an option. Remixes don't sound that appealing.

Surprised nobody mentioned this, from the article:
Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid,” for instance, is one of the top 10 best-selling songs available on the Rock Band downloadable content platform… as a cover.

I'm pretty sure that they got that one mixed up with War Pigs, as I believe that's the highest selling Sabbath DLC.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread
*Harumph* I played Losing My Religion last night and my Les Paul is starting to have the neck connection issues. I thought I'd just lost my touch until I saw the flickering lights when I was holding down certain frets. And the Torx bit I have is too wide to take apart the guitar.
