Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I still hope we get It's the End of the World (As We Know It) from R.E.M. as part of the remaining licensed WMG tracks. That would just be so much fun to sing and to watch someone sing.

Karaoke Revolution #1 has it. It's a funny song to try to keep up with.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

That's actually one of their I.R.S. tracks - I don't know if that makes it more or less likely to appear.

My want list from that era would be large.

Good to know it's not under the WMG umbrella, even if that means it has lower priority.

I don't know how that works when a label folds. Somebody must own the rights to those songs. It's probably a good sign that the song has been licensed to Karaoke Revolution. And there was a surround sound DVD-A release of Document, so the tapes are definitely around.

Wasn't one of their "big mega" announcements, the PAX pack?

they didn't bill it as that, they said they had a special announcement to make because they were at the PAX thing.

I think the problem is that we all have such tremendous hopes every week that such a small thing like that gets blown way out of proportion immediately and each week the legend grows.

Like when they announced the 6 albums in August and within 2 days clarified that it wasn't by the end of the year. You still have people freaking out that "they promised Jane's Addiction and Texas Flood by the end of the year." You can link people all you want to the post saying immediately that it wasn't the deadline and it doesn't matter.

Hardcore fanbase can be unreasonable. I've gotten there before. In June I said no more downloads until I hear something about the Who. I knew the Who's Next thing was a bust, but when they announced Priest, Cars & Doolittle they said they had announcement soon. It took another 10 weeks to get that announcement.

That said, I'm ready for more Who. :-)

Who are you over at rb.com? I ventured in there for a few weeks and became overwhelmed with the redundancy and general stupidity/immaturity.

There were a few beacons of light in that dark abyss, however.

Welcome aboard!

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Regarding the old PAX announcement:
HMXveng
Harmonix to deliver big announce at tomorrow's PAX panel!
That's right! Stay tuned for a big PAX announcement tomorrow during their panel from the Harmonix team! What's it going to be? You'll find out tomorrow afternoon!
I certainly agree that part of the fanbase has a tendency to blown things out of proportion, but HMX has also done their part to use that to their advantage to stir things up.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

That's still pretty shady... "big announcement" qualifies as blowing it out of proportion themselves.

They just need to avoid all adjectives in their announcements. Period.

thanks. I play and post under BengalCP09 at RB and ScoreHero, though I don't post much at RB.com, all my scores are entered at SH, but I usually just post to taunt the freaks there. I don't think my humor is appreciated much there.

About the "big" announcement, you guys make a point. As a sidenote, Skullcrusher from the PAX pack is a top 10 song on this for me. Introduced to more stuff by Coulton. But that was one of those WTF days. At least it was only 240 points I guess.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

For me (being a massive dork already), Coulton was a given. However that pack introduced me to The Darkest of Hillside Thickets. I really, really dig that Shhh... track.

Yay for recognizable songs!
Ditto. Here's hoping we get Shiny Happy People and something else in the future so I can complain about them not being in a pack!

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I admit I wished You're Gonna Go Far, Kid was also released today to make it a 3-pack for $1 more.

Do we need to go down that road again? I think that the Zombie issue and last week's No Doubt is a sign of less discounts in the future. Not a big deal, but (again) it is they that set the precedent and expectations. Staggering the releases seems solely to avoid those precedents, imho.

In for Offspring and REM...good stuff this week. Never heard of Richard Thompson.

From the Cradle is on my full album wishlist, although of course it'll never happen. Sadly, I'm guessing Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs won't, either.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Losing My Religion is one of my favourite songs, so I'm down for that! I will check out The Offspring charts to decide if I'm buying both or just "All I Want"... who am I kidding, I'm probably buying both.

Hopefully this Richard Thompson track leads to a Richard and Linda Thompson track down the line. I would like to see I Want To See the Bright Lights Tonight on Rock Band. Nice sing along song.

I would much rather have this one with almost the same name.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Richard Thompson = awesome. The guitar solo (and the bassline underneath it) will be mega-fun. This is the sort of left-field choice that RB needs more often (I'd kill for some Mike Keneally or King Crimson/Adrian Belew).

Meanwhile, in the decidedly non-left-field category: where the hell are the Rolling Stones? I was shocked to not see them on the RB2 disc, and I continue to be shocked that they haven't appeared as DLC.
