Regarding the ACDC Track Pack...

I used the code and exported the songs to my HD. Can I sell the disc and still download the songs again if needed (new console, new HD, etc)? Or do I need to hold on to the disc? Just want to make sure before I sell it.

Thanks

kinda defeats the purpose of a score-based contest...

Shag could have set it up so everyone has to play on med setting so that there's an attainable ceiling for all players. Either that, or just submit score and level played and post results divided into difficulty.

I sold mine and kept the code.

Since I never put the disk in my PS3, even for the download, I assume it's not needed.

I wrote the code on a post-it and put it in my RB2 case.

We'll see how the turnout is for this first challenge, but I don't foresee enough entrants to split things up by difficulty.

Not all challenges will be score-based, as I'll try to come up with other interesting ways to differentiate things.

As for the people saying that you (rabbit) and cartman should sit things out to give others a change, I say "get better!" It's not like us expert players were born with our skill. I know for a fact that rabbit practices hard to get all those FCs and high scores, apparent by his videos. If you don't want to spend the time and energy to get up to expert, then you can have just as much fun on hard or medium.

I didn't really want the challenges to be super-competitive, but more of a way for all of to play together (so to speak) and have yet another thing to talk about.

<3 Jimmy Eat World pack, though I will agree with what someone said above, Pain should have been chosen over Futures

Well, you are definitely limiting the amount of people that will enter simply because of the fact that you need to be able to play two instruments in this challenge. It's bad enough I can't complete Painkiller on Expert Drums, but I don't even know what difficulty I could do on Guitar/Bass, so I won't bother.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Perhaps next time the challenge could let us do the same instrument on both songs?

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I made it different instruments for people to maybe branch out from what they're comfortable with.

Later on, I'll probably start sprinkling DLC in there (that you may or may not have). It might be like "pick 2 out of 3 songs" to play, and one of them will be DLC or something.

I'm sure flashburn could handle Painkiller on med/hard bass, and miyu could probably jump on another instrument on med/easy just to log a score.

I plan to switch it up a lot with the challenges, and maybe not everyone will participate every week, just like with the HMX-sponsered BotB.

Alright, i have been slowly going through the game and not caring one bit about unlocking things. If these songs are the last tier then i need to quickly unlock the suckers.

What is the quickest way to unlock them in solo play? On my solo BWT i just unlocked the spiritual guru roadie so i don't know how far along i am.

Yeah, but there is a reason I don't play any other instruments.

Spoiler:
I don't really care to.

I just wanted to give my reason for not wanting to participate in this one, in case it has any influence on future challenges.

Duly noted.

As I said, it's not going to appeal to everyone, but just thought it'd be a fun activity.

I'm guessing I should go ahead and scrap my "play this song on every instrument" idea from future challenges, eh? Seems a lot of people here just stick to one instrument.

I dunno, maybe I'm just a party pooper.

Personally, I haven't picked up either the Guitar or Mic in a long, long time.

Why not try to create bands based on seeding? Take auditions for each part, rank the players, and form bands to compete against each other.

This was the original intention, but as I stated, there wasn't enough interest to form a good-sized tourney. This also isn't about band-vs-band, but more of a solo thing.

If you guys think the challenges are a bad idea (based off of just this one), then PM me and if I get a fair share of messages, then I'll just give up now. I thought it was a good idea.

Nah. I think the "play this song on every instrument" idea is golden. I know I don't play much of anything but the drums, but I'd definitely be into moonlighting for a challenge like this. Without incentive I'd probably just stick to the drums forever. Damn those cymbals and their wicked fun.

I don't know why anyone would think the challenges are a bad idea. I think they're great. Keep doin' what you're doin, Shag. I'm in for whatever you throw out there. We PS3ers are gamers. And we're certainly not too picky.

This might be a good spoke from the original challenge, based on the interest and results.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Okay, bitches, I submitted my score for the challenge. Hard Drums for Painkiller and Expert Bass for Feel The Pain. I've never played that song on Bass before, it was actually pretty fun.

Oh, and I used Hyperspeed for Drums, so I expect to hear several people call me a cheater!

Everyone should be on the same page if they use drums for the challenge. IMO.

Well, you're not running the challenge, so it doesn't matter.

People have the option to use Hyperspeed/Breakneck speed if they want. It's up to the individual to use whichever they're better with. It's still an even playing field regardless, as everyone has the option.

I just know your feelings on the Hyperspead/Breakneck "cheat", and well, it's laughable.

If everyone has the option to use/not use it, then it's a moot point.

Laughable because i view altering games as a cheat/breaking the user experience that was the intended way to play?

I'm starting a new contest, people can play one of three games that I choose then I will pick a winner based on a score that really doesn't mean anything because the people can play on one of 4 difficulty levels, and one of 4 different methods of play, with or without cheats. Who wants in?
