Hmm...I wouldn't mind having the Bioshock 2 CE myself. I might have to try that at BB tomorrow. Hopefully it's in stock at my local store.

Shelf space. They wanna sell those off so they can make room for more games.

Did Best Buy take down the coupon from the Rewards site? If so, does anyone have a link or copy to get it?

It was just a text message. You tell them the code at the cash register, they enter it, and you get the $20 off.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Got mine this morning - they had 6 CE's left (3 for each system), so I grabbed one of the 360 versions. I had copied and sent myself the text message last night - no problems at the register at all.

good lookin' out!

PS. They had 3 limited editions of God of War 3. I quietly put the hex on them so they wouldn't sell so I can get one a month from now in a similar sale

I just got a text message from Best Buy telling me that the $20 off is applicable to ALL versions of Bioshock 2 for PS3 and Xbox360.

I did just that and it said out of stock on the website, but I've learned better so I went by the store anyway. Sure enough, they had 3 copies for each system. I've heard that the website will show OOS if they have less than 5 copies in the store - just FYI for everyone in general.

Picked up the LE for $49.26 after tax (had a $5 RZ coupon to add to the deal).

By the way, if anyone now has an extra copy of the game itself thank to this deal, as I do, Amazon is offering $37.50 trade-in credit. Not bad!

My store said out of stock too, but I checked just in case and there was one left, which was the one I picked.

I got $40 at Gamestop with their edge card, and figured $10 for the collector's stuff wasn't bad. It's better than the $40 I would have shelled out for it at launch.

Looks like it's for Canada deliveries only. It would only accept a Canadian address and when I logged into the US website there was no such deal. Bummer

I'm not sure how it works, but clearly it isn't exact.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Anyone have any luck finding the Rubik's Touch Cube for $20? Anyone want to hook me up? My BB only had 2-3 when it was priced at $50, so they disappeared instantly upon hitting $20. (Didn't trust the website so I drove over there today to double check. No dice.)

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I just finished the first Bioshock last night and decided to get the Limited Edition set today. My store had 5 copies and 4 of them actually had the slipcover in good shape. And of course, as I headed up to the checkout, I knew there would be drama over the text message. It didn't help that the guy at the checkout is a complete prick. I tried explaining to him how the deal worked and he immediately went into blue shirt robot mode saying "I gotta verify this, you're supposed to have a printed coupon, etc".

Luckily, that douche bag walked off to "verify", and another girl cashier was actually listening to me and went ahead and punched in the sku, so I was out the door for $53.

One of the things I hate about retail is the management never notifies their employees about deals like this. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever. It's not just on this, but on stuff in their ad if they're giving away something with a purchase, etc. They are always completely clueless to what's going on.

Just gets frustrating having to explain to them what their policies and deals are all the time. But hey, I scored a great deal, so can't get too angry.

Anyone ever order used games from Gamestop online? If something is messed up, can you easily exchange it in one of their stores?

My experience, at least with the company I worked for during high school, was that management did "inform" the employees by printing up all the info and putting it in a central place for all employees to read. To that end, they requested that each employee, every day before going on the floor, would read the information. I always read it, so I knew the answers to deals, recalls, and PR issues. But not all the employees would do it. And my assumption is that Best Buy most of the employees don't care enough to read the info put out by management.

Now when management doesn't even know Best Buy's deals, policies (price match, return, etc.) that's what frustrates me.

I went through similar last time I tried to redeem one of these (it was when the 12 month live cards were $29.99), except it took considerably longer than your experience, and by the time I left, I had escalated to the Operations Manager who was on duty at the time, and had called Corporate from the store, as they pretty much were accusing me of making the deal up. They acted like they were completely ignorant of any kind of deal that they might offer that wasn't a printed coupon. The Ops Manager finally allowed it, but pissed me off significantly in the process.

I ended up calling corporate after and complaining, and having the store manager call me as well as email, etc. I replied in an email to him with the link to the location on their site with the text message program info, and asked that he review it with all his staff, especially his Ops Manager. I also indicated to him that it was inexcusable to have employees and especially managers who are not only ignorant about the store's policies and programs, but are completely rude to customers, operating a store that touts itself as a technology store, and which even has advertisements on their credit card readers about following them on Twitter, etc.

This time I had no trouble whatsoever. Probably a coincidence, but hopefully not.

My local target had a bunch of Wii point cards on clearance for 13.98 for 2000 points. I scooped one and they had well over 50 left.

I'm glad you edited the part about reading it all 'before clocking in', that would have been a neat trick on BB's part.
