I'm just looking for opinions here. I never played the first one but I have a download code that came in my inFamous game. Should I play through the first one before trying this or will I enjoy/understand 2 on it's own?

With that said, you should play through the first one because it's a fantastic game.
Edit: Nevermind, I guess there's a pretty decent amount of info on the game's story on Wiki. I still get the impression that the story won't really tie into the first one that much, and I still say you should play the first one anyway.

If not, the code goes to Ravenous for showing initiative.
I played last night and it was kinda fun. Remember that's a beta, so not everything will be the same. I was leveling up really fast but I guess that can change in the final release. Same with boosters and weapons. I think this MP is more like the GTA MP, if you have played that. So don't expect COD or Halo MP here.
If not, the code goes to Ravenous for showing initiative.

Played about a dozen rounds, mostly Team Deathmatch. Here's my initial impressions.
Collision detection needs some more work. I ran into someone else, and we got stuck to each other.
The 3rd person camera also needs some work. Sometimes if you're near or inside a building, the wall or roof will completely block your view. That got me killed a few times.
And I'm not crazy about the cover mechanics. Missed a few kills because I couldn't aim over/around the cover. And a few times, getting loose from the cover required some extra effort.
These are things that can (and probably will) be fixed. The main thing that turned me off was the gameplay.
It's one of those games where everyone starts out with an average weapon. There's tons of weapons, nades and ammo lying around. So everyone runs and grabs a better weapon. There also appears to be a few really cool guns. So I imagine every game will start off as a sprint for the good stuff.
You get two "boosters" (aka Perks) to customize your character. These are stuff like Carry More Ammo or Better Aim. Right now it seems pretty limited. They'll probably add more as you level up. But I'm on Level 6, and nothing's changed yet.
You can also pick your character (Drake, Elena, etc.) But it seems to be just different skins. I didn't notice any difference in their abilities or weapons layouts.
Right now I don't see anything here that'll drag me away from COD. The MP was ok, but unless there are some big changes, it won't be a major selling point for me. (I'll be buying the game for the single player campaign).

These are all legitimate concerns when it comes to the multiplayer but as far as Uncharted goes the multiplayer is a bonus. The real game will always be with the single player (co-op?) through the story. That in itself is worth the 60 bucks. I, myself can't get into multiplayers death matches where I'm facing a bunch of talking shitheads that I don't know.

If its for everyone, I cant find it. But I cant find the Red Faction MP demo either.... can anyone guess what the problem is there?

Damnit! I thought the MP Beta was open to everybody. I was browsing the PSN Store like crazy looking for it. When I couldn't find it, I checked this thread only to find out you need a code. For those that received a code through email, did you sign up for anything, or did Sony just send it?

Regarding other ways... the beta is going on right now, but if you preorder U2 from Gamestop you get a code for the MP demo going up in August.
But there's supposed to be something like 150,000 codes for the beta and I doubt that Qore, inFamous, and IGN have covered all of those. So I'd be on the lookout at places like gamespot and stuff (places that did LBP and Fat Princess betas).

Anyhoo, it's no biggie since I don't have my PS3 hooked up online. The code would have been wasted in my hands. But thanks for offering, nonetheless.

I've been playing some more, and I've gotta say I'm warming up to the multiplayer.
Playstation Magazine has an article on the game. The designers intended for everyone to start out equal. That's why the characters are all just different skins and everyone starts with the same weapons. I'm not crazy about that.
But it's a fun game.
