^^ I think you need 40 kills with Deep Penetration using FMJ... not sure how that actually occurs but I have something like 7 kills that way. Sounds too random.

You need to have FMJ equipped and then get kills through something. Could be glass, could be a wall, a box, netting, etc. It's the hardest attachment to get out of all of them. I had 1000 kills before I had 40 kills with FMJ.

What I did is make an alternate class with my SCAR-H that was just like my main one. The only difference was that I used Bling and added FMJ + the ACOG scope (my go-to scope). In maps where FMJ kills were likely (such as Rust, Rundown or Scrapyard) I switched to that class.

It takes a while but eventually you get it.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

Haven't been nuked yet. Didn't run into any Javelin glitchers.

And, finally... I ranked first in a free-for-all game for the first time ever. That felt good.

While my rank is something like 34 or 35, I feel like my actual skill-level is more in line with most people who are raked 20 to 25. I'm alright at killing, I guess. I'm just not very good at not dying.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

I have been running around with a class with the P90 w/ Bling (FMJ and Silencer) for about 2 days now, I'm getting about 1-2 FMJ kills a round. The P90 is almost made for FMJ though. Just do some random pray and spray when someone runs into a building/behind a wall near you.

Yeah, that's how I am. I'll go on a little run and then do something stupid...repeatedly. I won a match last night with 28 kills, but that's about twice as high as my normal rate. My recall on the maps is just not very good, so I'll get picked off without thinking at least 5-6 times a game.

I ran into a javelin glitcher this morning, but that's the only one I've seen so far.

So, you can't shoot someone through a wall unless you hit them in plain sight first? I could literally see the tip of someone's gun behind a wall and started shooting at it, but no damage occurred. When my gun ran out of ammunition he stepped into the window and shot me with his sniper rifle. This is exactly why I only knife people. >_

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

It depends on the wall really. Some of the shanty town ness of Favela you can definitely shoot through the walls. The same is true of the plane in Afghan. But other places the walls you can not shoot through. It's really a dice roll I've found.

You don't need to hit them first in plain sight, though it can help if you're tracking them and start shooting them right before they run behind something and finish them off through the wall.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

I love using the M16 with FMJ's to get the penetration kills, I probably have over 500 kills that way. You DON'T have to shoot them first, just know they're behind a wall and unleash some hell. I get up to 5 a game I bet. Don't forget, when someone's above you on the next floor, use a UAV and shoot the ceiling to hit them, especially on Invasion and the steps in the house on Estate. You will also hit them through brick walls. I unlocked the extended mags and was so excited, but to use them I had to give up the FMJ's (or thermal) so I only used the extended mags once...God I love the FMJ's with the Stopping Power Pro perk!!!

Extended mag doesn't give you any more ammo, so it isn't very useful.

You don't have to reload as often. Isn't that useful?

I think it is when I am unloading on two or three people, the mag runs out, I don't have time to reload or switch to secondary and i'm shot dead.

Yeah, I think it's the last shotgun unlock. Then you have to unlock them akimbo.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

from here:

http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Model_1887

The Model 1887 is used by the Ultranationalists and the Militia in Takedown. It can also be found on Museum. It is unlocked at Level 67 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer mode. It appears the wooden stock of the weapon has been sawn off. The Model 1887 has the farthest range of any of the shotguns. With Stopping Power, Steady Aim, and Akimbo, its range of lethality is increased even further, making it deadly at an incredible range. The Model 1887 is probably the most effective shotgun in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer as it has such incredible accuracy and power at mid range. This is, however, off-set by its slow (compared to other shotguns, unless wielded akimbo) firerate and reload time. The Model 1887 is favored among high-level players, as an Akimbo wielding player can devastate groups of players on a close to mid range map.
this wiki is the best I've been able to find.....although I disagree with some of the strategy hints.

I've been playing a lot of Domination using Claymores and Scavenger Pro and Danger Close and just run around and pick up and plant them in grass and near the flags. I got a ton of kills and XP from that. Also, I'm on ps3 and didn't see anyone trying the Javelin glitch.

That video of the shotgun is badass. I'm lvl 38, so I won't unlock it any time soon....but will keep an eye out for it.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

I don't have a problem with the dual 1887 players, they aren't cheating in anyway; I've been in numerous matches against them and I still manage to come out with a positive K/D ratio, so it's just a matter of switching to a class that lets you decimate them from a distance.. However, I do suspect with all the complaints about them, reload time and/or accuracy may be tweaked in a future patch/update.

I haven't faced any 1887 players, but so far the game is perfectly balanced.

i have seen them probably every night i play. there is a dude we play with regularly who uses them constantly, but i have seen them on other teams often enough. among the guys i play with (maybe 30 or so others) they are the most stigmatized/complained about weapon. i am generally not a complainer and that post was mostly a joke but i am surprised there aren't more complaints about them. they pack quite a punch and have insane range for a shotgun

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

I've played against 1887s, I agree, it's not that unbalanced, but what it does do is force you to change your style of play. I simply can not take out a akimbo 1887 player with my normal p90 setup unless I manage to flank them (and most experienced players minimize opportunities for that). So you end up having to play differently against them than perhaps you'd like to.
