Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

After playing nothing but Team Deathmatch I switched to some HQ today and boy did my gameplay go south! I still racked up a lot of points but my K/D ratio was awful. It's just a completely different style of play and I couldn't adjust to it which is strange since I played HQ almost all the time on COD4. Time to scuttle back to TDM.

I have a similar problem Mugwump, i play almost exclusively Free For All, and usually go like 1.5:1 k/d, i go to team, and iam usually 1:1, its just 2 totally differently styles. I like FFA best just cause its if i see something, i shoot it

I got passed it alone, took awhile, but what I did was go in the very back corner behind the restaurant by the gas station where u start, u can hide under the overhang and not get hit by predators/heli and u can put claymores in the restaurant and the sentry gun in front of that allley. The guys only have one way to approach you down the alley way so it makes it easier, still took me a few tries with this tactic.

The two I can't get past are wardriving and wet work. Wardriving I can get the first two laptops but the last one is a bitch sense the laptop there is out in the open. Of course theres always guys that seem to spawn out of nowhere that get me.

Well...
Spoiler:
we put the first one out in the street in front of the gas station, out just past the blue van so it could sweep the street.. It will mow down half the first wave and part of the second. Get it out in the middle of the street so it can pan around.

In the second wave we put the sentry outside the front door of the restaurant so it could sweep the street from that side.

That level is no joke on Veteran and the sentry guns and claymores will be long gone before you finish. Thermal sights are a must. One of us stayed behind the counter in the restaurant and one stayed in the corner to the left of the door(facing it from the inside).

Try to use the thermal sights to get the waves on the other side of the street. Once they swarm the restaurant you will be healing each other and barely hanging on in waves 4 and 5, at least we were.

Kill off the waves and then deal with the helicopter was our method. First with the missile then later with machine guns.

It was blast once things got hairy in the restaurant and we could barely stay alive.

Take the first one turret and go forward along the wall until you get to the street. Hang a right and go just past where the median ends. Place the first turret there, facing the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street from the diner. Run to the diner and place the second turret behind the counter, facing the front door. Crouch behind the counter. You can help the turrets if you want, but they'll do most of the work for you.

There is a third turret on top of the restaurant, across the street from the diner. When there were two or three people left in the first wave, I would head for the third turret, then put it behind the counter in the diner, next to the other one.

This is for any console, but I'm not sure it allows you to invite friends to FFA matches unless they are private. That way you aren't boosting.

Here is what I did. Take the turret by the gas station and place it in the diner behind the counter. Then run to the bank and get another turret. Set it up if you need to outside the bank for a moment to clear the first wave. Then take that turret back to the diner and set it up behind the counter as well. Finally get the third turret in the diner and, you guessed it, set it up behind the counter as well. Then you're on claymore duty. Put a few near the back door of the diner just in case a few guys slip around back. Stay behind the counter and watch your turrets wipe out everyone. Then use the RPGs for the helicopters and other vehicles. Easy. I had 144 turret kills to 9 claymore kills. The AI predator took out a few as well.

When I click "invite" from the lobby, it opens the XMB and displays a list of my friends. When a highlight and click a particular friend who IS playing MW2 at the time, it brings up a "create message" type screen. I don't understand why this screen would come up... Do I have to send them a message to join my game? Or should this type of screen not be coming up? TIA.

Yes, you send them a message. It's a stock message that says you would like to invite them to join you.

When they receive it, they accept the invite and join your session. If you are in the lobby, they pop in their. If you are in the game that you invited them too, they join there if there is room. If you have moved to a different game, then you will have to send another invite.

Yeah, not quite as intuitive as it should be, but it works fine for me!

To the poster who wanted better weapon balancing, it think it's more of a team balance issue. I'll back out of a game if I get dumped on a team that consists of mostly enlisted if it's paired against a team of 4 star generals. Not because their skill may be better, but they will have access to perks and weapons that the lower ranked team won't and that can get ugly really quickly.

That said, I had a blast staying in Domination game that had pretty unbalanced teams (we lost 200-0). Within minutes they were calling in Harriers, Apaches and Cobras. I switched to my heavy munitions class and shot just about every one of them out of the sky to keep my team from getting obliterated, but we still couldn't get anything going.

On the subject of headsets, anyone have any recommendations? The biggest problem with communication is the wild swings in quality of everyones headset. I can understand some people. Others are a garbled mess or constantly cut out. Mine cuts out a lot too.

I'd also be interested in a recommended headset. I've also been looking for a headset for skype. Two birds with one stone, or they wouldn't be compatible (PS3/PC)?

I just bought the plantronics 340 for my PS3. I didn't want to spend too much on one, this was only 20 bucks.
Works pretty well.

I was killed by that javelin glitch in many games last night. I thought it was martyrdom at first but then realized I wasn't hearing any grenade drop sound. Then later I heard a guy telling everyone how to do it.

Yeah.. that javelin glitch is a bunch of BS and it needs to be fixed like now.

So many times people would be using it, they'd run up to you and let loose with their "grenade" that rains a javelin down on you. It was so bad in one game that the entire other team was using it.
Made for some not very fun games.

One of the reasons I stopped playing MP so much. I remember the old "under the map" glitches for WaW. Nothing like a bunch of tards immediately going for the glitch at the start of the game and taking advantage of it.

Finally got a streak long enough to do the Stealth.

Odd with that circle in the middle thing but I got 5 guys.

I think something's glitched in my Barracks...it says I won 28 games in a row and there's no way in Hell that happened.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - No Russian in this thread

Excellent! I finally got Hardcore Team DM MVP. We were in the Scrapyard level, and the score was tied in the last few minutes. The other team got desperate and started running out cover to take us down and I got a few kills in the last few moments.

That's unlikely to happen again.

I think Terminal, Favela, and Rust are my favorite levels. Unlike Derail or the rainy level, there's a clear area where fighting occurs. I hate running around in the middle of nowhere, trying to find action, then getting sniped by some guy who's been sitting in a bush w/o a kill for 4 minutes. It's not fun.
