Re: The Offical Animal Crossing: City Folks Thread.

Hope everyone's enjoying their Monday! Just a quick question, we've had a perfect rating for a couple of days now, but just realized that when you lay things down on the ground even briefly, that alters the rating. Now does this reset our daily count to get the gold watering can? Or do you just need to have it be perfect at the close of the day for it to count? It would seem crazy that we couldn't lay anything down even for a second for 15 days!

I'm not sure about it, but I did notice that happened to me when I would lay axes down by the well for throwing.

Does it take 5 days for the fountain (just like the bridge) to be built?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the case. We're waiting on ours too!

Happy Festivale! I am rather annoyed it has taken me almost an hour to get the right candy to trade for furniture but it is a fun little time waster playing the chance games with the villagers. Anyone else playing?

Haven't gotten to play yet today being a work day and all. So this is another complete furniture set?

Re: The Offical Animal Crossing: City Folks Thread.

Yup and it is probably the most time consuming to get! Each piece requires 3 pieces of candy to trade. You get candy by playing random chance games with the animals. However, if you lose, they take 500 bells or a piece of candy so I suggest hiding your candy in mail or in your house before playing each game.

I forgot to mention he wants 3 pieces of the same color candy. When you win, the animals usually just give you a random color. I got 5 pieces of furniture and then two repeats so I decided to give it a break.

Ugh that sounds like a nightmare. The least the designers could do was make sure you don't get repeats until you get the full set of stuff like this.

For example, Pascal. I got 3 items from him, and then a repeat. Come on, the guy comes maybe once a week.

Re: The Offical Animal Crossing: City Folks Thread.

Here are some tips for the festivale.

Wearing a matching outfit (hat, shirt, shoes) will get you some free candies from the town animals. I wore blue zap helmet, blue zap shirt with matching shoes (shoe shine). I then talked to Pave to hear the festivale rules. Then when I talked to each animal, they said something about my matching outfit and gave me a piece of candy without having to do any games. You can get one free candy from each animal before they start making you play games. Some of the matching suits that have worked are, Viking, Pirate, Royal crown shirt, wrestling outfit, cat suit, etc.

Other tips:

Sometimes the games you play will require money or an item that you are carrying in your inventory as payment. So what I did was dump all my money and items in my house and picked up sea shells to use for the games.

Also don't leave candy in your inventory because the animals may ask for candy as payment. Instead store your candies in letters so that the animals won't ask for them.

One reason for the repeats is probably to encourage trading between players. So here is my list...

Pave furniture I need:
Carpet
Lamp
Table

Pave furniture for trade:
sofa (two)
chest
bureau
wallpaper
endtable

Re: The Offical Animal Crossing: City Folks Thread.

All I keep getting is the floor it seems, and my son got two earlier also. I gave it back to him (with my leftover candy) to play for a while but if he gets doubles he'll gladly trade. He wants to get as much Pave stuff as he can.

And oh, Creature, I finally got the "Plant 2 trees in Brinstar" fortune today. Guess I'll have to come visit you this week.

Yeah this is the most annoying holiday.

What I did was trap 4 animals on a bridge by digging holes and just go into a nearby building to reset them.

That's a great idea, but you don't have to enter a building. Just get them off screen that way your holes don't disappear. I can't remember if going in a building resets your holes.

Re: The Offical Animal Crossing: City Folks Thread.

Festivale would be better if it fell on a weekend. Just no way to spend all day trying to get the entire set on a working weekday. I got 3 chests and 6 other unique parts of the set is all I could do.

The candy games are great. When the soccer game comes up and they speak in the announcer voice its hilarious!

Also if you dont have an ant yet, drop candy on ground, go in house come back out, and you have ants.

Re: The Offical Animal Crossing: City Folks Thread.

It was fun for a little bit, but quickly became a chore ... I ended up selling off all the pieces I got - which paid off the remaining debt from my house expansion .. oh joy - I get a flag

Tappy - I have your kitten crying in my town ... Will bring her home the next evening I see you on.
