Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I had ordered the Collector's Edition from Gamestop, and now they're pulling the BS of "your credit card has been declined" which they sometimes pull when they want to cancel orders. I contacted my CC company and they said that GS didn't even try to authorize a transaction. I've heard of them doing this to other people in the past but never had it happened to me.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Played until 4:00 AM last night and another 3-4 hours today. I'm a level 12 Sith Assassin and I'm loving it so far. Enough WoW stuff so I'm familiar but some welcome improvements. I've been sending my companion (basically a pet) off to craft for me when I'm running around town and to drop off trash loot at the vendor (ala Torchlight). It's great. And even though the quests are similar, the fact that everything is voice acted and things are a little more creative than standard fetch quests, it doesn't feel like a slog. And they do a good job of making you feel like a badass even at lower levels. I can't imagine what combat will be like at the top levels.
Well worth the purchase!

It's really a lot of fun, though I wish there was an easier way of knowing where the flashpoints are. That and actually finding a tank for one...

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
They did the exact same thing to me. I pre-ordered mine online back in July and I got an email saying that CC had been declined. I didn't understand so I called my CC company just to make sure everything was OK and it was.....she even told me that no charges had come through in the past 24hrs and no declined authorizations. So I called GS customer service up and they tell me the card declined because it was expired. I laughed....I asked the guy "What does it say for the expiration date on my card?" and he says "11/13." Then he tells me its not Gamestop's fault, that it was my bank that declined the transaction because the card was expired. I told him to run it again. We'll see what happens now....they better not fuck me over on this.

Unless you're underleveled, most flashpoints that I've seen can be completed without the "ideal" team. That said, companions are often more than capable of filling any missing slots.

Going to try and start this tonight. All installed and ready to go. I think I'm going to start with a Bounty Hunter. I figure most people will go for a lightsaber wielder. I may do a Jedi knight when I want to see things from the Coruscant side but for now the Sith Empire seems too interesting to ignore.

You know, I've seen a pretty good mix of classes running around. So my advice is just to pick the class you're most interested in.
That said, in the Beta I deliberately chose the class that sounded LEAST interesting to me so I wouldn't spoil my launch experience...and I ended up having such a good time I almost rolled the same character again (Jedi Consular).

I've never played a MMORPG... and quite honestly, I don't have the time. Could I play this game solo and enjoy it or do you really need to devote a ton of hours to make it worth a purchase? Also, is there a monthly fee? I know, stupid questions....

I walked into Best Buy yesterday and grabbed a collectors box from a table full of them. I will wait for the serves/patches to settle down and try this after Christmas

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
It's designed to be soloable -- and the companions you get help a lot with that. There are group quests, but they're clearly marked and can be skipped if somebody truly wants to solo.
That depends on the player, how they spend their play time, and what they consider a "good value".[/quote]
Yes, $15/month. The first month is included with the purchase.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
Started my first character last night - bounty hunter. Having all dialogue voiced is definitely nice. The game feels very familiar in terms of control - I think most of these commands must be standardized across all MMO's now.
So the bounty hunter starts out on a Hutt planet. Where do the Sith start out? I'll assume the Jedi start out on Coruscant.

Here are the starting areas:
Ord Mantell: Troopers and Smugglers
Tython: Jedi Knights and Jedi Consulars
Hutta: Imperial Agents and Bounty Hunters
Korriban: Sith Inquisitors and Sith Warriors
At level 10, all Republic players go to Coruscant. All Empire players go to Dromund Kaas.

So is everyone so engrossed that they don't have time to post?
I'm liking it so far. It's not breaking any new MMO ground but I like the missions and locations so far. Finally made it to Coruscant with my Jedi.

I think the cinematic presentation with everything does make it pretty unique as far as an mmo goes, especially with how story driven it is. Other than that though, I tend to agree. It's still a really good game though.

Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic
I kind of left my bounty hunter at lvl 5 and moved on to a Jedi knight who is currently at 10. I'm going to level my Sith inquisitor up next to about 10 and see which one I like better.
