Agreed.

I will rent it, enjoy the achievement points, play the songs a few times, and then return it. I won't support this way of making new songs available by purchasing it.

If i could rent it, pay 5$ to export the songs (like someone could with RB1) then i would. Otherwise, nope.

Is it even going to be available for rental? Does "Wal-mart exclusive" only apply to selling it, not renting it?

It's not going to be available for rental. Unless some rental place goes to Wal-Mart and buys a few copies at retail and decides to rent them out.

If you want to play this, you're gonna have to plunk down the $40. It comes with a one-time export code (for one gamertag, not really just one time), so even a second-hand copy at GameStop or whatever is going to be gimped.

Okay, technically it's a $39.88 game, unless you're going somewhere else with that.

It will cost me $15, worst case scenario $20.

I will buy it, rip it, and then craigslist/amazon/half/gametz/etc... it.

There is an entirely different group of consumers from us that have no want or do not understand the exporting process. And many will just want the game cheaper.

Unfortunately, I won't be playing the ACDC title as it bears the walmart logo and brings that company money.

This looks oddly familiar. Didnt Aerosmith do the same thing a few months ago on another popular rhythm gaming franchise?

Ah, okay. If by "rip it", you mean export the tracks for RB/RB2, then I'll be doing the same thing. Still, you will have to pay $40 up front to get the game. The fact that we're reselling the game doesn't change the price. I know it's just semantics, but I'm feeling contrary today.

Yeah, except that AC/DC is good.

(ducks)

The big difference is that you can export the tracks for use in Rock Band 1 or 2, which is nice. With that said, I really wish this was just regular DLC and not a standalone disc. I don't like the trend of artist-specific game releases. That's what DLC is for.

It is always the final margin, never the upfront costs.

I will have this baby sold, packaged, and wrapped before the afternoon kickoff of the late NFL games.

And by the Sunday night game on NBC, it will be a bitter sweet experience for me that they took the Live route and robbed Bon.

For all you Expert drum players out there, is the new RB2 drum kit worth the upgrade? Any problems with them being wireless? I've heard about double hits and crosstalk between the pads being problems for some, but certainly not widespread.

My existing set is pretty solid, although the red pad seems a bit more "dead". Doesn't quite respond the same way as the other colors. For that reason, and the new set supposedly being much quieter, I was considering purchasing the bundle which will get the "new and better" drums along with a bass guitar. If there's not much difference, I could potentially just deal with my current set.

So, any opinions one way or the other on the new drums?

I think that has a lot to do with them not wanting to do a studio greatest hits album, which is exactly what this track pack would have been if it weren't live.

Which would lead to some double dipping...which I am not keen on.

And if they would do an album of AC/DC, and judging from a totality of factors, the Bon-less Back in Black would make the most sense.

Regardless, I will gladly double dip if they choose to release studio versions in the future. I get so much value out of these games and songs...

I've said it before: I am not an AC/DC fan. However, if I could get these 18 tracks for in the neighborhood of $10 net, I'd consider it - not for me, but for friends that might actually like to sing Back in Black or whatever.

But for minimum investment, I'm going to need to minimize turnaround time. And me being an achievement percentage completion whore, I would feel obligated to get what I could out of the game before unloading it...

Therefore I cannot, in good conscious, put this disc in my 360 under my profile. Unless it looks like I can get most of the points very quickly. But I'm assuming there will be a fair amount of skill-based achievements, per song.

Same here. If I'm going to pop it in to export it will show in my profile, so I might as well play the game for some points before dumping it.

No sign of achievements on achieve360points yet.

I need to re-visit the exported RB1 tracks. If they're associated with my gamertag or not. Because here you just need a profile to redeem the code to, presumably, get the license to export. If I did this under my wife's silver account and it stayed with my console, then we'd have something...

The Who only got a measly 12 song pack, and ACDC gets their own 18 track disc.

I'll probably do as you guys are, buy it, play through a time or two, rip it, re-sell it.

And I realize there will be buyers for those of us re-selling, but it's going to be a flooded market - any guesses as to what a copy will bring just a few days after release?

At $40 for 18 songs and no features I think you are over estimating how many this will sell.

Is anybody home that can see if the RB1 exported tracks under the "Game Saves" are tied to a gamertag or not?

It would be interesting to see if they can be moved via MU to another 360 and used and the profile holder could re-export at will...

I think you will be fine. Even with Rock Band, I think many are overrating how many people are actually using the export feature. A lot? Sure. But there is still a large segment that don't and still many that aren't Live connected.

A decent barometer is Rock Band. At the point of exporting, it's value (using Amazon) was $30 roughly. Now, it is $20 after almost a month of exporting. The AC/DC pack will hold its price because many won't buy from Walmart and many won't buy it at all new.

I see it holding at $20 until Christmas. I am hoping to get $30 that Sunday so I can keep my 18 track costs to $15 post tax because I am just not an achievements guy. I am a costs guy.
