I have one quick question. I, personally, did not enjoy Rock Band, at least when it came to guitar. For whatever reason, it was a little boring to me, and so I sold it, and went back to GH3.
I know there were those out there who felt the same way as I did, and so my question to them is: do you enjoy Rock Band 2? Is it a more fun game, or does it have the same basic feel as the first (charting, etc.)?
I was thinking about picking up the disc only tonight, because as I sit here, staring at my plastic guitar, I would love some new songs to play.

GH Aerosmith was great cause of this... But I read many qoutes that they wanted to make it even more challenging, and some of the videos i have seen look to confirm that honestly... I would not expect it to be easier whats so ever, they are going to continue to overchart, and do it just for diffaculty..

so I consider my self a pretty decent Expert guitarist... Sure, i might struggle at the highest tear with Painkiller, Panic attack, ect...., but other than the couple hardest song, I am pretty decent, i will be damned though, i cant freaking beat Visions on Expert, nor freaking HARD on Bass or Lead... I jsut dont get it, i cant do it, and I dont know why... I hate that song so much, after playing it like 5 times, i jsut cant stomach playing it any more.... Looks like any World Tour that has that in its set list I will just have to skip, and I guess I will have to forgo doing the endlist setlist now.... Fucking Abnormality

Got my 360 back today, finally, and bought Tom Sawyer and downloaded YYZ. For some reason Tom Sawyer would freeze at 1% each time I tried to download but YYZ downloaded without a hitch. Anyone else have any problems like this today?

Feel free to refer to a video, but it has been confirmed they are going with the Aerosmith/RB charting from now on. Especially on non expert levels.

This came out a day or so ago: http://buttonmasher.co.nz/2008/09/30...too-fing-hard/
Button Masher: There is a distinct difference between the way Harmonix did it in the past and the way NeverSoft is doing it now. I’m not saying it’s any worse, it is too hard for me to be honest.
Brian Bright: I agree, we made GH3 too hard.
BM: I know a lot of people that just caned GH3, I think it’s harder than GH2 but it’s not too hard obviously for some people. So you’re saying it was too hard?
BB: Yeah, it was too fucking hard. We made a conscious effort of GH Aerosmith and GH4 to kind of ramp the difficulty better. In GH3 you definitely hit a wall near the last tier on hard to expert.
BM: That’s exactly where I hit it.
BB: Yeah, too hard. A lot of that is chalked up to learning. Learning about the consumers and focus testing. In Aerosmith we made it much more linear, we devised a series of rules as to what constitutes a tier 6 hard song and what differentiates it from a tier 7 expert song, we came up with a rule set for this. In GH:WT we obviously have that same rule set, but we also have the ability to dial down the difficulty on any song, so if you hit a brick wall, which we don’t think you will, you can turn down the difficulty. I don’t think the guys artificially made things more difficult, we did have a few ScoreHero guys that were new on GH3 that were very good and may have note tracked some of the songs to their skill level. But in GH:WT you will see it is much more smooth, with a more even ramp, and it does get more difficult but hopefully you won’t hit that wall.

Looks like you can put in your key now. They're saying the 20 songs will be available in a couple of weeks. I'm guessing right around the time of the PS3 launch.
I'm going to hold off on inputting my code until I hear the songs are out. There have been so many times where I've pre-ordered something really early, and then never got the code for an item. Then people that pre-order the day before release get their code right away. The Disturbed tracks are the most recent example that comes to mind.

I don't think I could do it for anything except for vocals, and might give that a shot sometime when I'm bored, and have finished up most/all of the on-disc stuff.

Performance mode allows you to play the game without seeing any HUD at all. No scores, no charts, etc.. But you're still playing the game and can still fail and get your stats screen at the end of a song. For people that have note charts memorized, this is an awesome way to show that they're awesome.

You know, if you want that sort of thing in the background. Of course, you'll never get YYZ or some of the upcoming SRV songs like that.

I read that button masher thing kinda like this
.
.Button Masher: There is a distinct difference between the way Harmonix did it in the past and the way NeverSoft is doing it now. I’m not saying it’s any worse, it is too hard for me to be honest.
Brian Bright: I agree, we had no idea what we were doing when we made GH3, so we threw together a loose engine and really just put random notes that went along with the rhythm in lots of the songs.
In GH3 you definitely hit a wall near the last tier on hard to expert because of our inexperience and fucking up the note charts. We'd certainly never have said any of this while GH3 was still our prime platform, but now that GHWT is coming out, it's pretty safe to admit these things since it might prevent some players from purchasing our game when they have Rock Band 2 already.
We probably should have done this for GH3, but we just had to be out before Rock Band, so we just skipped all that testing crap. I mean really, if we had tested GH3 properly, do you really think we'd have left in the boss battles? I hear about 100 players ended up taking their own lives over Lou on Expert. In GH:WT we obviously have that same rule set, but we also have the ability to dial down the difficulty on any song, so if you hit a brick wall, which we don’t think you will, you can turn down the difficulty. We now consider this a "feature", being able to go from "Expert" to "Medium". It's been there all along, but we need sound bite we can get to fight Rock Band 2.

Another noob question here. When I get RB2 this month I plan on renting RB1 and buying some DLC right away (The Who, Boston, etc). Will the DLC songs be available to play right away, or do those have to be "unlocked" in challenges or whatever? Thanks!
