So general SEN.com question.
If you queue stuff up online, will your PS3 automatically download it overnight, or do you have to manually power on the console like xbox for it to grab it?

you have to manually power up and manually download. there is no auto-download for new purchases. the auto-download is just for updates, if you have psplus.

Bummer. Thanks though. Since the system can power on for updates, that should be something buying online should do.

In addition, if you are a PlayStation Plus member, you will receive a 20% discount on PLAY games when pre-ordering. And if you end up picking up two or more of these games, we’re giving you bonus PSN cash vouchers. You can take advantage of these great bonuses based on PLAY games purchased from July 16 to August 20: Pre-order or Buy any 4 PlayStation Store PLAY games to get $10 Pre-order or Buy any 3 PlayStation Store PLAY games to get $6 Pre-order or Buy any 2 PlayStation Store PLAY games to get $3 Now let’s get to the great lineup of games for PlayStation Store PLAY. This year you can get your hands on two PSN exclusives with Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark and ibb & obb, plus Cloudberry Kingdom and DuckTales: Remastered! Check out all the details on each game below. July 23: Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark (PS3/PS Vita) – Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark is a fast-paced stealth platformer featuring brutal hazards, ruthless enemies, fiendish puzzles and red pixels galore. Jump, sneak, and be chunked through 80 levels. Will you make it out alive? Armed with only your wits and a pair of top-of-the-line Stealthing Goggles, it’s your job to sneak your way through a deadly facility that’s determined to extinguish your fragile little life. With no weapons and no armor, being seen means instant death. Stay out of the light to avoid the attention of deadly security robots! Leap like a lusty salmon to avoid those zap-happy lasers! Think fast as the walls close in around you! And once you’ve defeated these deadly chambers (or they’ve defeated you), create your own fiendish death-rooms in Stealth Inc’s fully-featured level editor. This game supports Cross Buy and entitles you to both the PS3 and Vita version! Pre-order Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark starting July 16 for $9.99 ($7.99 for PLUS members). July 30: Cloudberry Kingdom (PS3) – Unhappily ever after. That’s how it starts. The Orb resurfaces and the classic characters return. Kobbler with his mania, Princess with her endless boredom. It’s only a matter of time before Bob, our hero, shows up to put order back to madness. Three powers struggle for victory and the fate of Cloudberry Kingdom hangs in the balance. What will become of the retired hero, Bob? Will saving Princess one last time win her love? Could true love ever stop Kobbler and the power of the Orb? No, probably not. But hey, it’s worth a shot! Cloudberry Kingdom is designed with a fully random level generator, which means very level is brand new — you’ve never seen it before. Play as 10 hero types and unlock more. Includes support for up to four players with local multi-player and co-op. Pre-order Cloudberry Kingdom starting July 16 for $9.99 ($7.99 for PLUS members). August 6: ibb & obb (PS3) – ibb & obb is a two-player cooperative game set in a puzzle-filled world where gravity goes both up and down. You can only succeed by working closely together. Find a friend for some true local cooperative couch fun or match up online. Fall up and jump down through 15 levels filled with double gravity puzzles and discover the eight hidden worlds that will test your new non-Newtonian skills to the maximum. All levels have their own unique music composed by Kettel (LINK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kettel) known for his warm melodic electronica. Pre-order ibb & obb starting July 16 for $9.99 ($7.99 for PLUS members). August 13: DuckTales: Remastered (PS3) – DuckTales: Remastered is a hand-crafted, beautiful reimagining of one of the most iconic 8-bit titles of all time. Go back to one of the golden ages of gaming, but now refined with a level of detail that will please hardened Disney or retro Capcom fans. Featuring hand-drawn animated sprites, original Disney character voice talent and richly painted backgrounds from the classic cartoon TV series, Scrooge McDuck and family come to life like never before. The gameplay retains the authenticity of its 8-bit predecessor, simple and fun and including slight modifications to improve gameplay flow and design. Embark on an authentic DuckTales adventure, as Scrooge McDuck and his three nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie travel to exotic locations throughout the world in their quest to retrieve the five Legendary Treasures. Pre-order DuckTales: Remastered starting July 16 for $14.99 ($11.99 for PLUS members). If you are heading to San Diego Comic-Con 2013, all four games will be available to demo in the PlayStation booth from July 18-21th. ____________________________ Hey, they might not give you a bag of souls during this promotion, but if you're a PS Plus member and were going to get Duck Tales anyway, saving $3 on it and getting any other game listed for essentially $5 after rebate is a pretty good deal. |

The August delivery of PlayStation Plus games in Europe is almost here, designed to further entice the continent to stay in front of its PS3s and Vitas and away from the ever-relentless sun. July 31 sees three more PS3 games join the Instant Game Collection, with a tough choice for headliner between Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Spec Ops: The Line, and Mafia 2. The same day brings two Vita entries to the Collection, namely the Nordic madness of When Vikings Attack, and the one block to rule them all that is Lego: Lord of the Rings. There's only so much space in the IGC inventory, and no amount of clever Tetris swappery will prevent the departure of five games in turn. That means you have until July 31 to grab Catherine, Battlefield 3, Malicious, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, and Unit 13. |
Re: Official PSN Games Thread
I hope we eventually get Catherine. I want to play that again.

Agreed. It seems that they're working towards the two regions being the same. US has been getting things that EU already got and next month, they get Spec Ops which we just received. |
Re: Official PSN Games Thread
I really hope they keep delivering great PS3 games (to the IGC) after the PS4 is released. I haven't played my Xbox since I finished Bioshock Infinite, and I have a lot of, free, digital games in the PS3 for the rest of the year.
*I have a big backlog in the Xbox too, of course. I'm actually in the middle of Dishonored :(, Gears Judgement, and something else. |
Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Yeah... I have so many games to play, that I sometimes end up getting locked up about what to play and end up not playing anything... :(
The Vita and Steam Deals are not helping! :) |

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Four old, simple PSN games went on sale for 99 cents each (for everyone, not just PS Plus).
Blast Factor https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwo...ASTFACTOR00011 * Calling All Cars https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwo...LLINGALLCARS01 * Critter Crunch https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwo...3ST_CRITTERCRU * Everyday Shooter https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwo...ERYDAYSHOOTERF * Nothing amazing there, but at that price, I guess they're worth picking up. I liked Calling All Cars back in 2007, FWIW, though I imagine the online community has dwindled a bit since then. Looking forward to playing some Stealth, Inc when I get it downloaded tonight. |
Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Everyday Shooter is a must buy. Simple, elegant and more fun than Geometry Wars, IMO.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Calling All Cars! YES! Finally the wait has paid off!

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
So I played a little Stealth Inc and I quite like it. It's hard, very hard actually, but it's "solve this puzzle" hard, in a Portal or Exit sort of way rather than a manual dexterity sort of hard like Super Meat Boy. Resisting You Tube walkthroughs will be difficult, I predict.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Echoing what M. Corvin said about Everyday Shooter. That is a really great little game and is well worth a dollar.
According to wikipedia: On January 14, 2010 the servers for Calling All Cars were taken off-line. |
Re: Official PSN Games Thread
It's still a fun local MP game (Calling All Cars) if you have a couple of controllers and people that want to play it. My older daughters were playing it just the other day.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
I wouldn't say Everyday Shooter is better Geometry Wars, certainly not better than GW:evolved.
ES is fine, with some interesting mechanics and designs, but it's hobbled by it's somewhat clunky controls. GW controls far better and is a much smoother experience. |
Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Everyday Shooter is good, but it's definitely no GW.
|
Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Wait... Call All Cars is a MP only game??
Someone owes me $0.99!!!! :p |
Re: Official PSN Games Thread
You can play it SP against the computer too.
|
Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Well, alright then! :rock2:

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Just in case you guys don't read the PS4 thread...
Best Buy has a deal going where you get a $20 PSN card and 3 months of PS Plus for $27.99. Assuming you think $20 cards are worth $20, that's $32/year for PS Plus...or 20ish percent off PSN credit, if you prefer to look at it that way. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/%2420+Pl...0050003&st=psn I bought a pair of each in store today. Rang up with no issues. |
