Re: Official PSN Games Thread

The past two thanksgiving weekends have brought PSN game sales. I'm hoping for another one this year.

Tomorrow brings Revenge of the Wonded Dragons to PSN. It appears to be a double dragon clone.

Wounded Dragons appears to feature a more involved combo system than its forebears, though, along with modern niceties like Trophies, custom soundtracks and leaderboards. Nice. Looks like I'll finally pick up Flower. Maybe The Last Guy as well (demo was pretty fun).

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Thinking about buying the PS1 classic Theme Park but last time I got one of these (Crash Bandicoot) it wouldn't save even though I think I set up the internal memory card correctly. So I'm a bit unsure..

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

PoP Classic for me. Too bad they're doing repeats now (The Last Guy, not sure about Flower). Don't really know if Bomberman is worth it since I have the XBLA game. Never even HEARD of Comet Crash. Will have to check both that and Smash Cars out.

edit: Bomberman Ultra IS Bomberman Live apparently -- Pass. Comet Crash is yet another Tower defense game -- Pass. I'll have to check out Smash Cars. It didn't look like much, but for $7.50, it might be worth it for the kids at least.

Any new games come out today besides the one I mentioned above? I was sort of expecting Madden Arcade that hits XBLA tomorrow.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Will definitely pick up flower. Already have and love Last Guy. Won't get Bomberman, tried it on the 360 and it's not my cup of tea.

Has anybody played invincible tiger? And how does Comet Crash compare to Pixeljunk or Savage Moon?

I wish more of these had demos. That would help the buying process so much.

Invincible Tiger has a demo on the Xbox Live Arcade if you have access to that. Judging by the demo, I thought it was a decent arcade-style beat-em-up, but I don't think I'd want to drop $7.50 on it, personally.

Bummer. I'm with my brother for the holidays and don't have my 360 here. Just a ps3.

Guess I'll watch some gameplay on youtube. Already watching some footage of PoP. Never played the series so don't know if it's the right kind of game for me. Does anyone know if it can also be played on the psp?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

flower is a friggin' masterpiece. I'd call it the best game on PSN, but I'm not sure it IS a game. In either case, it's an experience well worth $5 and then some. NOBODY should sit that one out.

That fighting game demo didn't do much for me, personally. I'd like to see how it plays with the 3D glasses, though if just for the novelty aspect of it.

Does anyone else feel that Tower Defense games, even more than two-stick shooters, is a genre that's overstayed its welcome. For me one Tower Defense game is all I need. After that, it just gets repetitive. I bought Savage Moon in the last sale, but have barely touched it. If I haven't finished the superior PJM, why would I want to play another one.

Great News : PixlJunk Shooter is coming Dec 10

PixelJunk Shooter to whet your skills on December 10
by Andrew Yoon { Dec 2nd 2009 at 1:31PM }

Q-Games' latest entry in its PSN PixelJunk series will arrive on PlayStation Network worldwide next Thursday, December 10. Shooter follows the legacy of previous PixelJunk games, by adding a modern twist to old-school gameplay. In Shooter's case, the twist happens to be realistic liquid physics, as players manipulate the flow of water, lava and ice.

Like Monsters and Eden before it, PixelJunk Shooter is expected to cost $10 or the foreign currency equivalent.

I had a chance to play PixelJunk Shooter at PAX and really enjoyed it. A definite purchase for me, and I can't wait for next Thursday!

If that were true it would cost about $11 on the Australian psn store. Sadly, it will probably cost around $18.

I know for a fact that every PixlJunk title has gone on sale for $5 in one of the next two semi-annual sales, and yet it seems very unlikely that I'll be able to wait this one out for six to twelve more months to play. Those bastards.

Yeah, the PixelJunk games are prime 'Sale' candidates. I think I'm going to wait.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

There's a sale on the PSN store this week:

Deals
Beaterator - PSP - $19.99 - Permanent Price Drop
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - PSP - $29.99 - Permanent Price Drop
Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman - PSP - $9.99 - Permanent Price Drop
Brain Challenge - PSP - $4.99 - Permanent Price Drop
Unbound Saga - PSP - $4.99 - Temporary Sale
Tetris - PSP - $6.99 - Temporary Sale
Burn Zombie Burn - $4.99 - Temporary Sale

I'll certainly pick up Burn Zombie Burn and (probably) Tetris PSP as well.

Also FF VIII is up for $9.99 now (regular price). And there's one other new game called Puzzzlegeddon that made for a pretty terrible demo on XBLA.

Just curious, how do you know when something is a permanent price drop?

Kotaku or Joystiq. I can't remember which, but it was listed as such.

From what I've seen so far, it's well worth the $10.

Excited about VC DLC being on sale.

I know it's outside the scope of this thread, but how's the Sega Genesis collection? That seems like it might be good PSP material. Anyone have it?
