Well I picked up Wing Commander 4 because I never played one before nor have I played a FMV based game from that era. Well the cutscenes are actually well done, and not that badly acted. But the game is ard. its so limted its so easy to die. But the game does have its charm though.

After spending about a half hour on the final Boss of Pixeljunk Shooter, I got so frustrated that I just decided I'm not going to bother anymore.

I enjoyed the game up to that point, but a final boss should at least give you a chance.

You have to be pretty perfect for a really long time and I just don't have the patience.

Hm, what part are you specifically having problems with? I didn't find the last boss too terribly hard and it took maybe 5-10 minutes.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

So... I've never purchased anything from the Playstation Store before (I've only downloaded some free stuff here and there), but there are definitely a few things I'd like to get at some point in the future. Do PSN cards ever go on sale or does everyone here basically just pay retail for them?

I only ask b/c it seems like there's always some deal on MS Point cards, but I never run across the same for PSN cards (granted, I've never really been on the lookout for them before). I'm sure this has been asked elsewhere but "PSN" isn't exactly the easiest thing to search for on the forums.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Is it common knowledge that PixelJunk Monsters is now missing from the PSN store?

My first PS3 was stolen, but i had previously purchased it. When I try to download my prior purchase, the new PS3 rapidly downloads a tiny file, installs it, and then that file disappears with no icon under the GAME menu. (There is a file under the Game Data Utility folder.)

It also appears that you can no longer purchase the title for PS3. But you can apparently download the demo.

Is this just a fluke that might be resolved with the store update this week? Or is this title gone for good? I wasn't able to determine anything with Google, but maybe I'm not searching for the correct words.

Note that you can still get the title in a bundle with some other PixelJunk titles, but it looks like Monsters is the only PJ title not available separately.

No way it's gone for good. I suppose if you d/l the demo there will probably be a purchase option.

The only PSN card "sale" I ever saw was Target once sold the $20 card for $19. I was able to get a couple of PSN cards at slightly clearanced price at Wal Mart ($50 for $40), but they soon fixed that price.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

That's weird that PJM is missing.

As for cards, there was a deal maybe a year ago where you could get $20 card from gamestop online for about $15 a piece. It was with a coupon they had. Stocked up on a few.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Rereading your thread, Witcher, perhaps you're just downloading the unlock key to get the full game from the demo. I know that's how PSN does it with several other games.

If you have a Sony or Playstation credit card, you can earn points on the Sonyrewards.com website towards $10 PSN cards. You don't have to purchase anything, as they have daily quiz games.

The answers can be found here: http://boards.sonypictures.com/board...ad.php?t=44293

It's 1000 points for a PSN card, and you'll get around 45-55 points a day, plus another 200 per week for playing a Jeopardy game. I can get a card every 3-4 weeks.

Oh yeah, you can register 5 Sony products for 500 points each. So you could register the Playstation, 1 or 2 controllers, other Sony-branded products, and there's 2500 points right away.

I dunno. I had previously downloaded the demo, and I found that old download, re-downloaded it, and now I apparently have the full version.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I think I had waited until PJM was on sale before I bought it and I don't think I bought it from inside the demo, but rather from the On Sale section in the store. But maybe the PSN is smart enough to not make you download the full game for some titles if you've got the demo already. That would probably be the only thing that the PSN Store does efficiently if that is indeed the case.

It does seem odd that you cannot purchase PJM separately at the moment.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

New game sale this week (perhaps they're starting weekly game sales )
TMNT : Turtles In Time Reshelled $4.99 (reg. $9.99)
CellFactor: Psychokinetic Wars $4.99 (reg. $9.99)
Prince Of Persia Classic $4.99 (reg. $9.99) -- a repeat of recent sale.

Personally, I hated TMNT Reshelled, but at that price, maybe it's worth it. Not sure, but CellFactor was a pretty fun demo for a nondescript FPS.

Oh and it looks like that Pinball Heroes PSP bundle that I was waiting on has been released. I guess it's all four tables for $9.99 (instead of $3.99 each). Might pick that one up...

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Really nice sale on now :

PS3 10 for ‘10 Game Sale (valid through 1/27)

•Braid (now $7.49, original price $14.99)
•Burn Zombie Burn (now $4.99, original price $9.99)
•Critter Crunch (now $3.49, original price $6.99)
•Gravity Crash (now $4.99, original price $9.99)
•Tank Battles (now $3.49, original price $6.99) (edit : I think the game is actually called Battle Tanks)
•Uno (now $3.99, original price $7.99)
•ZEN Pinball (now $4.99, original price $9.99)

ZEN Pinball is a must-buy. Critter Crunch is a great game if you don't already have the iphone version. Braid and Uno are worth it if you don't have the XBLA ones already.

Maybe it's "Less Than Ten Games for Less Than $10 Each"?

I picked up Braid for the Wii with the Rock Band Pepsi points, is the PS3 version better?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

A buddy shared Braid with me a bit ago, but I bought it just because I want to own it and support the developer. It's truly a remarkable game IMO.

I also got Zen Pinball, and I'm pretty underwhelmed. Other than online functionality, which isn't exactly critical for pinball, the William's Pinball collection is better by quite a stretch.

I really dug the Critter Crunch demo, so I picked it up as well.

Best PSN sale yet, I think.

Chew, that last boss isn't bad at all once you sort out the trick (where to drop the oil).

I found the boss before MUCH more frustrating.

Ended up getting Braid, Burn Zombie Burn, and Critter Crunch. 15 bucks, that is what braid usually costs by itself.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Picked up Braid, since I've heard nothing but good things about it. Was going to play it a little before heading to bed, but it said the game needed an update...240MB, which was the size of the game itself. Guess it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

chess, you're on crack. ZEN Pinball kicks Williams Collection's ass. Sure Williams (which is a $40 retail game) has more tables and is based on real life tables, but ZEN looks absolutely amazing and is so much fun. Tesla table alone is worth $5 and there's not a dud in the bunch (which is cetainly not the case with either Williams, Gottleib or the XBLA game). I love my ZEN pinball. It's easily the best video pinball game ever.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I think I paid $25 for Williams, but yeah, Zen was cheaper per table. I really like Tesla, but none of the others jump out at me compared to tables like Funhouse, Whirlwind, Medieval Madness, Black Knight or Firepower. There's also something intangibly cool about the Williams tables being based on actual mechanical tables. I'd still recommend Zen at $5, but the other tables just weren't as interesting as I hoped they'd be.

Braid is a remarkable game...the sort of imaginative game you just don't see very often. I can't emphasize enough how highly I recommend it at this price.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

The Williams Collection is pretty good -- not great. I find myself going back to the same tables over and over -- Funhouse and Gopher Golf (or whatever the hell it's called). I'll check out Zen tonight.
