Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I remember reading that the game was nearly complete and was on time for the original June 23th date but a delay for polishing purposes is not a bad idea.

I guess with other games that came out in May (UFC, inFamous) and are coming out in June (Prototype, Ghostbusters, Fight Night Round 4) would kind of hurt sales.

This looks like a great game and can't wait for the release.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Since I'm so sure I'm going to play this game, I'm avoiding the preview coverage. I know games aren't like movies, but does anyone else think they might be giving too much away? Since all of the rogues have been redesigned, I think it would be cool to encounter that in the game. They'll make for some nice surprises. Ultimately, it's no big deal, but I want to go in this game knowing little to no more than I know right now.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I really wish they'd get all of the main villains into the game, because everything looks great and I'd really like this to be the "end-all" Batman game that I've been waiting for.

Not sure about the reliability of this guy, but if his story his true it kind of scares me off this game.

I dunno if I'd trust a website that has the following message on the bottom of the page:
Everything on this blog is the personal opinion of the RAM Raider, and is all lies (Apart from the comments, which are the personal opinions of the commenters. And are all lies.)
But that's just me.

Who knows? Maybe it does suck. Maybe it doesn't. We'll just have to wait and see.

The thing is, the gameplay doesn't really look that good either way from what I've seen.

I'm waiting for reviews from actual gamers.

Yup. This game just doesn't look very fun.

After playing the demo, it was fun but I don't know if I could do it over and over the entire time.

Possibly a stupid question, but how did you get the demo? I just checked Xbox Live and didn't see it.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Yeah, the demo was fun bot limited to the combat only. If the game were only a beat-em-up, I could see it getting old. Instead it seems to be a stealth game with beat-em-up sensibilities. that sounds sweet and I hope they can pull it off.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Is anyone actually shocked about the rumors that EIDOS is offering an early review for anyone who promises a cover and a 90% score?

Considering how good the game looks, I was surprised they'd feel the need to boost their scores. Or is this a regular practice for EIDOS?

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I think they've done this before, most recently with the more recent Tomb Raider game. They told places that if they were going to give it a bad review, wait a week to publish it so the metacritic score wouldn't be too low.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Too bad. The last Tomb Raider was actually good despite the camera issues and the disappearing rain in one level.

Actions like that make it very difficult when reading reviews. That's a problem for people like me where mom and pop rentals seem to have phased out games and so we rely on reviews.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Wanna beat up some skeletons? Only at Gamestop!

We're not much for pre-ordering stuff (honestly, if you're a store, shouldn't you have things to buy?) but when we saw that the Collector's Edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum included a batarang, it was, frankly, out of our hands. But the pot just got even sweeter with GameStop's announcement that those who pre-order the game will get an exclusive Challenge Map.

The map, "Dem Bones," will see Batman face off against an army of Scarecrow's minions. But frankly, the above image contains all the information you need to make a purchasing decision: Batman. Versus. Skeletons.

So instead of Bruce Campbell in Army of Darkness, this one is Bruce Wayne in Asylum of Darkness?

Yeah looks that way! I went ahead and pre-ordered the LE from amazon since I had some credit with them. Looks to be the first good Batman game in a very long time.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Help me decide : PS3 CE for $81 after ECA discount or regular version for $48 after the discount? I never spend that much on a gmae, but it seems like a pretty good deal for what you get and compared to the MSRP for that one.

Stick with the regular one and save the cash for the Beatles.

Between the 50% coupon, the ECA discount, the $50 trade-in credit and my son helping me out by breaking my drum set last week, that Beatles Rock Band SE was already taken care of.
