Here is the CAG pic someone else mentioned of the batarang:

Very disappointed with it (batarang), though not surprised. I was hoping to use the Batarang to take out people at night, using my night vision goggles from the Modern Warfare 2 deal.....shucks. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
That would be awesome for sure and a news story I would watch over and over again.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I played the demo last night, I really want to like this game, but the camera angle with bats always way to the left of the screen is making me insane and ruins the game for me.
I guess this didn't bother anyone else. Is there anyway to change it so that he is in the center of the screen? Are there alternate camera angles? |

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I meant slow in regards to the combat. And I'm suspicious of any stealth game where I cant jump/leap out of the way.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I jumped and leaped out of the way plenty of times, or "grapple-hooked" my way out anyways.
And the combat is more about countering than it is about leaping out of the way - it is Batman after all, he's not one to jump out of the way. |

You guys know that there's a run button, right? The camera also centers on him and zooms out when he's running.

as you can't run while standing still. |

I guess that's cool. Still don't really see the appeal of Home though.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Come on, it's the Batcave! Don't worry, I won't actually leave it. Just like in real life.
Unless, that is, you could actually dress up as Batman and beat up users who cheat at games online. Or if you could dress up like The Joker and kill other users indiscriminately. If that were the case, Home would really be worth using. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Looks cool but no way in hell am I gonna bother with Home just for that. They should have made it an extra feature in the game proper similar to how Lego Batman used the Batcave as the game's main hub.

They did a preview on AOTS. Looks good.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
The only bad part about this being one of the few games to come out this summer is the large amount of attention this game is getting. It looks like a great game, but all this attention is getting my hopes up, and that usually means disappointment in the end. PLEASE BE AS GOOD AS THE BUZZ!!!

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I got excited playing the demo and pre-orders on amazon.. After a week of posts & thinking about it I canceled.
I'll wait and get it for under $30. I think its going to be to repetitive. If everyone has guns - how many ways can Bat's take'em down?? Call me sick, but in one of the fist fights I did the triangle attack and spun around and kicked a guy in the nuts!! |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I should be getting my copy the end of next week or early the week after...can't wait!
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
This is a minor gripe I know, but anyone else not a fan of the slow motion stuff at all (during combat)?
I just think the whole "Matrix" type slow motion is played out. |

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
the demo definitely whetted my appetite for the game. it's certainly not perfect but any gripes i have are very minor. for the first time ever, i feel like i'm playing a Batman game where i'm actually doing things like Batman would rather than just running around throwing batarangs and punching at hordes of bad guys. i especially loved stringing up a henchman on a gargoyle.
i'm hopeful that even after completing the full game, there will be cool things to explore throughout the asylum. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I finally got around to downloading the demo last night. I've got my share of issues with what I saw, but overall it looked like a decent game. From what little I've played, I'd anticipate review scores to fall within the low to mid 7s.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Finally was able to get a pre-order of AA for my price point (under $10 :D) thanks to cheap trade-ins ... now looking forward to reading all the hype over the next week and a bit without feeling jealous!

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Theres a gadgets trailer on Gametrailers,
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/ga...n-arkham/54109 awesome stuff! less than 2 weeks left :) |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
It got 9.5, 9.5 from Game Informer and GOTM.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Yep, more from a guy who posted it at GAF:
"THE BEST BATMAN GAME EVER MADE" "Batman: AA is not only the best Batman game to come out on consoles, it's a contender for Game of The Year" +inhabitants of Arkham Asylum feel like living, breathing characters. Converse w/ one another, interact with Arkham's geometry, and create their own self-contained stories +Melee system highlights brutal efficiency. Even when odds are stacked against you, you feel as if you can take everybody out. +Areas of the Asylum are blocked off until new gadgets are obtained (zelda/metroid style) - The final confrontation Spoiler:
Goes on to say: "Regardless, Batman: AA is this year's Bioshock...delivers an adventure unlike any other" [English] Games Master UK: 96% Playstation Official Magazine UK: 9/10 PlayStation Beyond: 90% OXM Australia: 9/10 Total Film: 5/5 Game Informer: 9.5 (Second Opinion: 9.5) [German] Consol Plus: 91% Maniac: 90% 360-Live: 90% (Reader Review: 88%) Play³: 90% [French] Jeux Vidéo: 19/20 [Finnish] Pelaaja: 10/10 |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Amazing scores...this game does seem like contender for game of the year.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Wasn't Eidos putting a moratorium on all reviews that are less than great, though? I'll still be buying it, but the reviews aren't really trustworthy if Eidos is messing with the system.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Well, that's good to know.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
yeah just read that Game Infromer gave it Game of the Month.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Count me officially excited. Even if Game Informer bumped up their score a bit to get exclusive access, and the ability to do an early review, I would guess they would not add more then maybe 1 point to the review...so it looks to be an 8.5-9.5 game......
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I would like to point out that Resident Evil 5 also came out in an early review for Game Informer. There was a lot of money spent pumping that game up, and when it was all said and done, Metacritic has it at an 85. That is probably about right. Game Informer just happened to give Resident Evil 5 a 9.5 as well. Early review, early access, add a point to the review????
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Crap...trying to moderate excitement...looking at huge backlog...
Must. Remain. Pessimistic. (or at least wait till I can get it for the boy for Xmas) |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I'm really looking forward to this. I just hope those reviews are on the money.
