It's 1 stupid challenge room with the Joker, no big deal. Buy the 360 version and be happy with it. Or DL the Joker a month later since it will most likely hit the marketplace.
When a game developer or Microsoft (or both) puts up a middle finger at 360 owners, even if that finger just twitches a bit, and is barley noticeable, I twitch back, even if the 10-15 bucks the game developer loses, and the 5-8 bucks Microsoft loses from me is an even smaller twitch of the middle finger to them. That being said, this game looks amazing and is REALLY close to being a Day one purchase. To bad.....as if they REALLY care I am not buying this day one...but I MIGHT not be the only one. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I doubt the Joker challenge map will be on Xbox anytime soon...Sony is working with DC comic projects and even publishing DC Universe Online so they're likely getting some bonus for the promotion of it.
Sony deserves to get an exclusive DLC since XBL got GTA IV DLC and even Fallout 3 DLC 6 months before PS3...nobody complains then but when Sony gets something there's a riot. |

I saw a LOT of complaints from PS3 owners. Nobody complains? There were hundreds of threads closed, sometimes 10 a day, at the Fallout 3 forum about the PS3 not getting DLC. No one complains?????????????????????????????????????? |

I want this game to be good, I really do. I remain extremely skeptical... ...and I await DVDTalk's glowing review. ;) |

The "stupid" challenge room is just the icing on the cake that will ultimately save me money. I am already picky when it comes to day one purchases anyway.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
x360a says Eidos said a demo is due on Friday the 7th for the 360. I can't find a corroboration or mention of a PS3 version.

What's specific for Rock Band and Orange Box? As far as I know, the DLC is the same on PS3 for Rock Band and there is ZERO DLC for Orange Box.
Rock Band 2 was released early, promotional DLC has been 360 only a couple of times (Disturbed comes to mind), and 360 is getting an exclusive song on Beatles. |

True, and if I owned a PS3, I would have waited to get Fallout 3 until the Game of the Year version...nothing wrong with that. Fallout 3 also happens to be my favorite game on this generation of systems.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
There's a code for Amazon 5OFFARKM that's good for $5 off any version of the game. That kind of made the decision for me since the PS3 regular version is now $42.69 with coupon and ECA discount while the LE version of the PS3 is $79.60 with the discounts. No way that plastic boomerang is worth $37 to me.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I'm torn between the 360 and the PS3 version. Is this offering any sort of multiplayer or graphical superiority that might sway me towards the 360?
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I would assume smoother frame rate and graphics on 360, but the Joker map on PS3...
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I'm guessing they'll both look the same and the challenge map will eventually make it to the 360 as DLC.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Eh, I went for PS3. Without a compelling reason to choose the 360, the Joker level wins it.

(Plus, I don't actually own a PS3). |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I stopped achievement hunting a long time ago. Besides, most games now have trophies on the PS3.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Awesome. Just got a note from the PR company and I should be getting a copy for my own review purposes. Awesome. He even gave me the choice of console...in a twist, I went PS3 simply for the Joker.

How soon will you get it? Any early impressions would be much appreciated, as long as you don't violate any early review agreement you made.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I played the Ps3 demo today and I am not overly excited . It's not bad but the demo didn't wow me either the graphics were solid. I think that the one thing that sticks out for me is it's one of those games were you press the attack button and it sort of feels like you aren't in control of what's happening. But on a positive note when you do hit guys it looks real cool and when they zoom in on the hard punches it is sweet.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I just played the demo on the ps3 also, I really liked the detective work you do to find a way to take out criminals, and hide in shadows. It kind of almost feels like a Splinter Cell or MGS game in that respect. If you go in guns blazing you will get your ass handed to you. I agree the graphics really didn't wow me either. It is a Unreal Engine game and has the look of Stranglehold or the Punisher game on PSN with way better graphics of course. I think I'm sold and can't wait to pick it up.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Did you download the ps3 demo from the HK PSN store, or is it already up on the American store?

I had the chance to pre-order this for under $20 the other day, with cheap trade-ins at GameStop, but went for BlazBlue instead. I haven't opened it yet, so I can still exchange it for the Arkham Asylum pre-order, but I am thinking that AA will be at $30-$40 (in Canada) within 6 months (max), whereas BB is one of those games that will be hard to find very soon (it is already!). |

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Is it different than the combat demo that's been available in Game Stop for a while?
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Liked the demo, but didn't realize it was such a stealth game. I will probably take a pass on this one for now as I rarely play stealth action games, but will get it down the road when it is cheap. The combat was great and I love the look and style of it. Bet it sells a ton.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Where is the demo? I looked in the Marketplace on the 360 in the Demo section under new release and saw nothing...

It is supposed to come out tomorrow

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Sorry I figured you meant the 360, I had said earlier the one I played was the PS3 version. I will dl the 360 one tomorrow and try it again I am not down on the game but I am not as excited as I was either.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I was going to download it for the 360, and I only found it on PS3.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
The PS3 demo is decent...something I might get down the road when it's cheap, but there's no way I'd be even remotely interested if not for the batman license.
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
I loved the demo. But yeah, alot of games are like that. You take away the license, and it's just a generic game. The detective mode is great, and Joker reminds me of an older, crazier Stewie.
I am pre-ordering this at Amazon right now. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Played the PS3 demo, absolutely loved it. I'm all over this...
|
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Just played the demo as well. It was pretty short, and I only had to replay the final stage more than once to successfully complete it. Definitely got Splinter Cell deja-vu from playing it, and I remember how I sucked at Splinter Cell after getting deep enough into that game.
Visuals were ok, but for some reason didn't wow me as much as I thought they would. Saw quite a bit of aliasing as well. Other nitpicks: the camera angles were bothersome at times, and I found tapping L2 for toggling detective mode wasn't always as responsive as it should have been. I'm 50/50 on this one, but I might just wait a few months when the price drops on this one, as I'm sure it will. |
Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum
Add me to the list of people impressed by the demo. The stealth gameplay was surprisingly fun. Still only a rental for me, but that's more about saving money than it is the quality of the game.
