Good grief, that's a fantastic deal for me...I have the $20 gift card I got last month from buying Wii Sports Resort....
So, just to be clear: I can buy this for $60 - $20 GC = $40 AND get a $30 GC with it, so essentially it makes it a net of $10 spent? I was planning to use the $20 GC for Beatles, but now I'll get Batman and use this $30 GC off of Beatles instead!

No, technically your spending $40 in cash, your just converting $30 of it to a gift card. That being said, I also got the $20 card from Wii Sports Resort which I believe the clerk said expires sometime in September so I'll use mine also towards this.

The problem with TRU, at least mine anyway, is that they never have new releases in stock. Unless it's called Grand Theft Batman, Rock Band Batman, or Halo Batman.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

I was gonna rent this game, but with the TRU deal (and my $20 gift card from Wii Sports Resort), I think I'll just buy it and sell it once I beat it.

In years past TRU was the last place I would shop for a video game unless I went there for a specific deal. Usually I wouldn't get to use it because all the good games were gone. However I am seeing now that they really are one of the best places in town to get good deals. They usually have good clearance games too.

Edit:
WTH is up with giving gamestop an exclusive map? The one store I wouldn't want to buy it from gets such a cool exclusive. How unfair is that?

I was trying to talk myself out of buying this, even with the TRU gift card but I just played the demo and wow. It seems pretty good.

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

So is there a breakdown anywhere of where's the best place to buy this? Store exclusives? Best price? Best overall deal?

Re: Batman - Arkham Asylum

Finally had a chance to try out the demo. I was really impressed. I like detective sections quite a bit. I really liked the combat and the sneak gameplay. The camera was kind of annoying right behind Batman's shoulder, but i can deal with that.

I usually wait to buy games until they are around $40, but this might make me change my mind.

Since it's supposed to be released as actual DLC a month or two down the line, I believe it will be a unique code. It's also packaged inside the game.

I don't think anything will beat a free $30 gift card with purchase at TRU on the first four hours (10am-2pm) of launch day Tuesday (for rewards members (which is free to join)....unless you don't plan to buy anything else from there...

Keep in mind, these gift cards have 2 catches:

1) They're not active until 6 hours after issue, so you can't expect to use it on another, immediate transaction.

2) They have an expiration date of a few weeks out. Just guessing that these will expire by the end of September making them useless for the usual B2G1F sale in October.

Point 1 is valid, but the Wii Sports Resort gift card (issued on 7/26/09) is good until 9/30/09. Based on that, the Batman gift cards would theoretically be good until late October, though of course that's just speculation.

Ghostbusters and something else that came out +/- 2 weeks had the same expiration, IIRC.

Hmm...I guess we'll find out either way on Tuesday.
