I'm the same way as far as the tutorials go - I've had to revisit the moving bolt one because I keep getting it wrong. Now I've got it working right - I'll build multiple prototypes in a blank level just to make sure I understand how things work. I'm getting the most fun out of treating LBP like Lego or an erector set!
BTW, I have an Eye and I was talking to a guy I was playing with online through it. It got a little choppy at times, but it did work!

Again, nope! You would think you could! I know the latest firmware patch to the PS3 will enable developers to enable in-game screenshots, but it's up to them to create the functionality. I'm hoping when the LittleBigPlanet Workshop goes on-line, we can copy our save games to a USB key or drive and upload our stuff. Burnout Paradise lets you do that from a save game - it analyzes the save and then shows you things you have or haven't completed.

Huh... oh well. Hopefully they will make that available. The LittleBigWorkshop sounds cool.
I found this on the Official game site - did you know that Playstation has their own YouTube channel?
http://www.youtube.com/playstation
I haven't had the chance to check out any of the LBP videos there, but it sounds like they go more in-depth on some of the tools.

Turns out the videos are actually less in-depth than I thought. Basically commercials for the game. Oh well - hopefully Workshop will have a lot of tutorials/how-to videos, etc...

Is there a trick to jumping on the platforms with springs? I'm playing through the Story mode, and I'm trying to jump from one of these platforms to a higher platform that is out of reach. I'm not even sure if it's possible.

I'm trying to figure that one out too! The same question also applies to switches. I'm on the Metropolis level and there seem to be levels I'm supposed to get to, but my jumps just don't have enough oomph to get me there!

You're ahead of me. I'm still trying to get through the first Wedding level. I think I've spent more time with this level than I did with the Garden and Safari levels combined.

If you're talking about springs that bounce you, you're supposed to jump right before the spring reaches the top. That way the spring will mulitply your jump force (i just made up all those terms.)

Also, in other news, 2 FREE COSTUMES will be available for download next week. There's also a whole article talking about upcoming DLC, in terms of new items for your popit menu, for creating, new costumes, and new levels from Media Molecule themselves. Some of it is paid, some of it is free.

Thanks. I figured it was something like that, but my timing was off. Your tip helped me get a few more items and finish the level.

Cool. Glad to help. Later on you'll come across some bendy things that bounce you as well and you'll have to time that same kind of jump a number of times in a row to reach the heights that you need.

I published my first level! It's called "Roulette Wheel" and, surprisingly, it contains a roulette wheel! It's a mix of skill and chance with 4 possible prize amounts. My username on LBP is the same as my forum name if you want to check out the level.

So every time I sit down to play this, I get maybe 30 minutes and then my wife comes in and sits down, and my roommate comes in and sits down, and I'm just playing around with different things in the builder, but now I feel like I have to be "exciting" and it makes me all nervous. Then, last night I'm playing around with the rocket cheetah, my roommate and I are laughing our heads off and my wife goes "this is stupid! Is this all this game is about?!? Just building stuff?!?"
I'm really sorry that she can't see how this game could be fun for an engineer, but she knows that I've been talking about this game non-stop for the last 3 weeks, and that I really enjoy playing it - couldn't she just suck it up and go to another room? or just not say anything? Now I feel like I can't even play it with her home.
She did the same thing when I borrowed guitar hero III. I was trying to get better at Metallica's One, which is a hard song in that game, and she cracked off some comment about "haven't we heard this song before?" I shut it off and gave it back to the owner the next chance I got.
Now today, I'm working at home, so I figure I'll have a few opportunities to play throughout the day - but my wife is off today, as is my roommate, so we'll see. He'll probably be playing GTA:IV all day.
Sorry about that - I Just had to vent a bit.
Rocky, the Moon Patrol car was pretty cool. I imagine that the final version will launch explosives rather than golf balls, and at a faster rate so they don't come back down? Oh, and I looked up a video on Youtube and it looks like the wheels need to be on shocks as well. Is there a way to hide the cables from switches and stuff? Or are they only showing up because I'm playing around with this stuff in the builder?
I wanted to make sure there weren't any "trench run" star wars levels out there, so I searched Star Wars on the network last night and there are a lot of Star Wars levels, but they all sucked! So I'm hoping that when I get done with mine it will be really good compared to the ones I've seen so far.

Everyone who's got this, please add me. I figure that's the only way we'll be able to get some of the trophies (of X people hearting your level and so on).
This game, on the surface, seems to be crack. But there's something very wrong with it. (Read: Thing I'm not good at). Those pink platforms in the Brazil / Day of the Dead level: good grief, the timing on those is absolutely terrible. I keep dying and can't finish the level. Any tips?
My first level may be some sort of Georges Méliès moon-travel level. I haven't decided yet. Still building a rocket.

I played a funny user created level called "PS3 vs 360" and it has you picking your favorite console and taking branching paths after you do so - if you pick the 360 path you have to traverse piles of 360s that are 3-red-ringed to a car that won't go. The PS3 path takes you to a car that you can take off a jump for a bunch of prizes.

I'm having the opposite problem. My four year old daughter is hooked on it, which is great. She's getting a good feel for the analog controls and starting to remember the buttons without looking at them. Yesterday We worked on her getting used to the R1 (2?) grab button(the 'finger' button to her). She's getting it pretty well. I let her do all the 'stickering' on levels and don't say a word, she figures it all out, which I'm impressed by. All this is great, I have a little gamer to play with since my wife is not into them that much. Even funnier, I let my wife play with her yesterday on the very first level. My four year old was tearing it up and leaving my wife in the dust. It was even cool seeing Nariko & Kratos work side by side.
Problem is, I can't get any alone time with the game. If I turn it on, then my daughter wants in. She also doesn't need to be gaming all day at her age either. So LBP sits.
