Has anyone ever taken their 360 apart before? My disc tray will not close and the only solution I can find online is to take it apart and find the problem. It's way out of warranty and don't feel like paying MS $100 to look at it when I can buy a new one for less than $200 (arcade version & GC).

I know this has probably been addressed tons on the past but I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the arcade Xbox 360 for my bedroom. I have an elite in my home theater room. Can I simply remove my hard drive from my elite and play the games on the arcade console w/out losing functionality or game saves?

Yes but you will need your gamertag to play them.

He's already planning on moving the HDD back and forth, though.
However, you can get a $20 20gb drive for the bedroom and keep your profile and game saves on the memory card that comes with the arcade. That would be ideal, if you were ok with the extra $20. And even that would only be necessary if you were going to download game content (maps, expansions, whatever) that would persist in both locations.

It's going to be interesting seeing the 360 NPD numbers for Sept.-October since the price drop.

PROBLEM:
I have not played my 360 in a while, but today I picked it up to play Half Life 2 episode 1. My most recent saves are gone. Early game saves are there though. Also many of the objects in the game are rainbow colored pixels. What gives?
I called xbox support, and after 45 minutes of working with a Chinese chick who I struggled to understand she disconnected me.
I've rebooted a couple of time, but no help.
Any ideas?

I bet there is hardly a soul here that doesn't feel your pain as most of us have a 360 and have had it red ring on us. I was just lucky enough to get mine back on my birthday.

Report: Microsoft Delays Xbox Live Primetime
Online community quiz show Xbox Live Primetime will both be delayed until the spring, as Microsoft concentrates on introducing the New Xbox Experience dashboard update this November.
First announced at Microsoft’s pre-E3 media briefing in July, Xbox Live Primetime is being produced in conjunction with television production house Endemol.
The company behind programs such as Big Brother, Deal or No Deal, 1 vs 100 and Fear Factor is working with Microsoft on a series of games that are to feature real-world prizes and live moderation.
The service was originally intended to launch in the U.S. alongside the other new features of the New Xbox Experience, currently schedule for November 19th.
According to a Forbes report which reveals the delay, the first show to debut is to be 1 vs. 100, although few details of the service have been available since its announcement earlier in the year.
Primetime will not be the first promised feature to be delayed by the implementation of the new dashboard -- with the ability for users to watch streaming Netflix movies together in different locations also recently being sidelined.
