Me, but only with the help of the explorer perk, and there was one not far from Rivet City that even with the perk took me forever to figure out.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears

I had a gift card for Best Buy and picked up Fallout 3 GOTY edition for the PS3. I haven't opened it yet and now I am hearing about all of these bugs in the program. Is it worth keeping? I also heard that most of the bugs seemed to be occuring in the expansion packs and not the original main part of the game. Is this true.

Thanks!

I played the original version for the PS3, with no DLC, and it didn't get buggy for me until the very last mission. it kept freezing up on me several times. but up until then it worked great.

I guess I should have been more descriptive but I meant every house, shack, hole, whatever at every location.

By the way, if you get that explorer perk, does it show stuff like that as well on the local maps or just every location on the world map?

It just shows the locations on the big world map, I think. And I pity anybody who has discovered every house, shack, and hole.

Not sure if this was mentioned or asked yet but is the GOTY edition considered a different game? Meaning if I buy it and pop it in, will it allow me to load a save from the non GOTY?

I saw some people that had two versions of Fallout 3 on their games played list, and two sets of achievements.

You can load old saves. I got rid of my standard version as soon as the GOTY came out and it recognized my old saves. Just make sure it's for the same system.

Is there way to check that in the game?

I probably did it. I used to open the map and walk straight until the end of the map, then going up or down, straight again until the end and so on. And checking everything. Everything. That's how after I finished everything, including DLC found some places in the original map that I've never seen before. No missions though.

IIRC, just all the locations that can be visited. you cannot fast travel to ones you have not yet visited.

It's 2 discs. The first disc is just the old, standard disc. The 2nd disc simply installs the DLC to your hard drive. You never use the 2nd disc again.

So you cannot get higher than a level 20? There were some other perks I wanted to try out.

Also, there's only 10 bobbleheads?

20 is the level cap for the standard game. The Broken Steel expansion/DLC increases that to 30, and also adds new perks for those new levels.

There are 20 bobbleheads, one for each SPECIAL stat and one for each skill.

That's what I thought. Crap, I've only found 1/2 of them so far and accidentally finished the game last night. I'll have to start at a previous save and continue exploring.

Wish I had that level expansion. Do they sell just the expansions on a disk? I'm not hooked up for LIVE.

Sorry if a question like this has been asked. Saw this at Sams the other night cheap. Wasn't sure if I would like it. Typically I play third person action games, like Uncharted. Any input would be appreciated.

I got Fallout 3 thinking it was a FPS shooter game. I was disappointed at first when it turned out to be more of a RPG, but it does have action that can be played in either first or third person viewing modes. The game itself really pulls you into the story too. I'm glad I gave it a fair chance.

I finished the game last night (and want to get a hold of the expansions now somehow ), and have yet to understand the "exploding teddy bears" title in this thread.

So is the Mothership Zeta add-on any good, or would I be happy enough with just the other 4? I'd rather buy the add-ons separately than the whole game over again, unless the price is right.

The general consensus seems to be that Mothership Zeta is the weakest of the add-ons, and I would certainly agree.

Operation Anchorage and The Pitt were released separately on a disc together, as were Broken Steel and Point Lookout. I imagine those are still available.

Yeah, but they're still $15 each USED at Game Stop. I'm wondering if It'd be better just selling my game and rebuying the GOTY edition.

Spoiler:
Pretty sure it's just a reference to the commercial that aired before the game came out. It featured a close-up of a teddy bear, although it didn't explode or anything...

I was personally glad it was more of an RPG, but I know FPS games have their fans as well

Spoiler:

There's a weapon you can get if you find the plans for it, and the components, that lets you use teddy bears - and other things - as ammo. I'm thinking that's the reference.

I did sell my regular version for the GOTY, if you can get anything at all for the regular and haven't bought the DLC yet, it makes a ton of sense to do it that way.

I'm glad I found this out. I was thinking the DLC was all on one disc, so I deleted all the previous DLC from before for the day when I would buy the GOTY and save space.

Now I'll just download my DLC again and buy the regular version
