My game is freezing up, and the cache clearing thing isn't working. I have to shut down and restart the Xbox. Now I can't even play for ten seconds. Take five steps and total lockup.
Any help out there? I've been playing since release, so I don't have my receipt anymore.
And its not the system itself, I've been playing Dead Space all day with not a problem.

Where are you at in the game? I had the same issue in Megaton, and fast traveled out of it, and it hasn't happened since.

Actually I did find 17 alien power cells in Ft. Independence. Interestingly enough killing the brotherhood outcasts also gave me fingers - not sure if that's because they became "bad" when I lockpicked my way into the base or if they were already technically bad.

I'm currently in the Irradiated Sewers. I'm level 20 already, been doing all the side missions I could and ignoring the main story. Now I'm stuck completely. I literally cannot take five steps in game before it locks up.

For any Big Guns fans out there - you gotta hit up the Deathclaw Sanctuary (that and the bobblehead).
Ft. Constantine is also more than worth it - don't give the keys to Crowley at the end of "Shoot em in the head" - going to Ft Constantine on your own will still give you quest completion credit and achievement. Just wish I could figure out how to repair the T-51B - none of the other armor types I pick up (tesla, enclave, outcast power armor) are compatible with it for repairs. Hopefully the standard brotherhood armor is compatible because I'm already down to 42 DR from the original 50.

Well, I went and looked it up - definitely won't finish with all 20 bobbleheads. Missed the RR one - crap!
Might as well get the rest and do my exploring now.

82 hours in now and getting ready to wrap things up. Pretty much all the main locations found - mostly just subway stations left now.
I was hoping to make it through once without consulting gamefaqs - totally possible to finish the game without it - just too many frustrating bits I want closure on.
Definitely finishing with just 19/20 this time around.
Had to actually check gamefaqs for a couple of them too in the end - to save some time. A couple in areas I had gone through and somehow missed (not careful enough sometimes) - and one in an area I never would have imagined - locked house that shows up as red would seem to be an indicator to the contrary.
Finally figured out what the deal is with the radio stations and signals (in conjunction with one bobblehead). The thing that gave me so many problems is that until this weekend I wasn't in the habit of turning on local map very often for outdoors areas - but in some locations it's crucial.
I don't know about other folks here but the errata in here is really making it for me. There were so many hidden jokes and clever random encounters in the first 2 - here it's not random, and not necessarily as funny, but there's so much depth. I mean, they had books and books of text in Morrowind (and presumably Oblivion although I've yet to really get into that game - soon) - but I never felt compelled to read any of it - just click each one looking for the skill up. It's different for the Fallout scenario for me - and has been for all the games so far.
Here I dig into every single computer I can find - from the random diary entries of survivors to the complete text-based video game. And it's all so poignant (or almost all of it). Either the audio clips recorded by dying people (ie. some of the radio signals - hearing someone's voice and then finding their skeleton slumped over a radio switchboard - just broadcasting a recording for decades) or the entries left by those folks trying to survive immediately after the bombs fell - the civil defense nurse (Fairfax Ruins I think it was) or some of the others. Also seeing the entries in all the Vaults showing what went wrong in different areas - like 87 - the guy hearing kids voices in the walls - Little Lamplight - and going nuts. Or seeing the emails between co-workers about stuff hidden behind their desks - or what to do when they get raided by the feds. Or the PLA infiltration plans.
Oh and I also launched an ICBM and dropped a string of micro nukes almost on top of my head from orbit. The "Miss" Launcher is a humorous touch as well. Nice damage, but kinda useless in principle.
Now one location I can't seem to get to show up complete in my map is Vault 87. It's marked as a location to find on my map with the explorer perk, but I can't get it "activated" since the radiation is too strong to get close enough even for a second (and I can't seem to get it from underground either). Any ideas?

You have to enter it via a nearby location. The one with all the kids. ("Little" something?)

I can enter it no problem - but I want to make it show up as "discovered" on my world map. I can't seem to do that from inside and on the outside (even with rad-x and advanced rad suit) I can't get close enough to make it show up either. I even have add'l rad resistance from the cyborg perk, but once you start getting close, it goes up to 300-400+ rems per sec.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears
Either way, gave up and finished the game at about 87 hours. One thing I got to but never actually went inside for - the Capitol bldg. There might have been a bit more in there. OTOH, the White House has some nice surprises. Did anyone else notice the hilarious bit in the utility tunnel between Penn. Ave and the WH?
Spoiler:
Now I see a couple un-completed quests in the list of achievements - guessing those are the "bad" versions of some of the places or people that I met. Either that or I never talked to the right person at the right time.

Well, I played the shit out of this over Christmas break and beat it in about 48 total hours. Amazing game that was a ton of fun, but damn there were a lot of bugs, especially towards the end. All around though I think it was a total blast and am very glad I picked it up.

Need help with Talon Mercs at Fort Bannister. When you enter the compound, there is a guy sitting in a mini tower with a missle launcher..totally took me out..how do I get him?

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears
If guys like that are up in a tower and you can't get them to chase after you (hide behind a rock and wait to pounce on them), your best be, IMO, is to use your most accurate long-range weapon (hunting rifle if you're still early in the game, otherwise a scoped .44 or sniper rifle) and try to take out the missile launcher or his arm. If you hit it, he'll probably drop it, and although he'll eventually pick it back up, it gives you time to either keep shooting him and hopefully kill him, or run past where he can shoot at you.

My VATS is always way to low, its like 10-15% it sucks. He totally kills Charon and Dog

I'm just starting this game. I'm in Megaton and all I have is a baseball bat. Where can I get a gun? If I go out to explore I get my ass handed to me by all these creatures. All I have is a baseball bat and my BB Gun.

Re: The Fallout 3 Thread Of Exploding Teddy Bears
You also might consider selling your BB gun to Moira to repair your baseball bat so it can do more damage and then take out the creatures by using VATS as much as possible.
Also, I found that killing creatures in the early going with a gun is difficult since ammo is so hard to come by in the beginning since they don't drop ammo. You really need to go find some raiders to kill to build up your weapon stocks.

And what the other said, there is some weapons/ammo in springvale. Stay away from the school though. several raiders in there (Until you get some armor/weapons)

Yeah, I got a gun from Amata in the vault. But after that, you'll just have to hunt around. I actually had gone to Springvale first too and had a difficult time before I realized Megaton was the other way.
