At the train station which is the one furthest to the west out of the three, there's a subway "dungeon" you can go into. They're down there.

This game has made me a zombie at work

There is a raider that has one by that bridge you have to go to to deliver that message for the chick in Megaton. And yes that is as clear of directions as I can give at the moment.

I had my game freeze on me for the first time last night. It happened during a loading screen.

I really want to give this game a spin, but since I dont buy games off the bat, I want a demo!

Any general suggestions for what skills to throw most of my points behind? I haven't played many RPGs, so it's kind of a foreign concept to me. Is there any particular strategy you should use (i.e. is it best to just balance everything out, only focus on your few main skills)? I suppose it depends on what type of player you want to be...but is there any type of player that will be better for this game?

I went with Small Guns and Speech, which is what I usually did in Fallout 2. I also tagged Barter, but I probably should've picked something like Repair or Medicine.

I'm having a blast playing this game. Blowing off someone's head never gets old.

I did small guns, speech, and lockpicking. I used to steal alot in the previous games, but it's alot harder now.

Also, why is lockpicking so hard for me? I break so many bobby pins.

I've only tried one lock (in the Supermarket), and I wasn't really sure what I was doing. I succeeded, though, but I think it was a Very Easy lock.

I am considering buying this, but I have a couple of questions.

I bought Oblivion blind on the reviews/threads here.

I played it two separate times, with two different character types. The first time I did a quick/fast archer type character and focused mainly the side quests, and enjoyed that for the most part.

The second time I was a heavy character. I liked this because I could use more weapons and armor. I focused on and beat the main quest, and that got old and repetitive quite fast.

How does fallout compare? i think the future aspect may be enjoyable, but if that is the only difference, I may pass/wait.

You can demo the whole thing for 60 bucks. Give it a spin as you will not regret it.

Thanks guys. I just started playing today, and just left the vault, so wanted to be sure I chose the skills I wanted now while I still could change it.

How does the leveling up work in this? I remember in Oblivion, if you didn't go to sleep, you didn't level up. I played through once and leveled up at every chance, and the enemies were damn hard doing it that way. Then i played some without leveling up, and it was much easier, but I couldn't get a lot of the cool things that higher levels gave.

Only an hour in, but I'd definitely agree with this...games like this (like Oblivion) give about the best bang for your gaming dollar, IMO.

As for skills, Repair, Repair, Repair! You will make lots of money doing this (while not being constantly encumbered by your loot). Simply Upgrade any weapon you get duplicates of and you can sell them for much more money. It is also great for increasing the damage of your weapons. It is easily the most needed skill in the game.

The trick is to push the screwdriver just until the bobby pin starts jiggling. As soon as it does, back off with the screwdriver and adjust the bobby pin. The lock will open when you have the bobby pin at the perfect angle. The further you are from that angle, the less the lock will turn when you push the screwdrier. So you just have to keep adjusting the bobby pin until you get the correct angle.

As soon as you get enough XP to advance a level, you automatically go to a level-up screen. As far as I can tell, the enemies do not change based on your level.

The guide said that the enemies are harder as you level up.

Which pisses me off in a way. Why spend so much time leveling up just to have your ass handed to you by a super mutant that somehow becomes a superduper mutant.

From what I read, when you enter a zone, the enemies are "locked" at your level so when you return 5 levels later, you can squash them easily. If you jsut run around entering every zone early on, you could lock them all into lower levels.

I saw something about the ants in the "Those" quest, and it said its better to go earlier then later because they'd be harder. So that seems to fit with what you read.
