Nice.

I know at my store some people didn't get midnight DLC because of pre-orders. I had mine pre-ordered and went to pick it up at 1130 the next day. They gave me the DLC card and said I was one of 4 people picking it up release day so that's why they saved one.

I honestly felt a little bad for the people at midnight.

There were 5 of us an hour early to the midnight sale and they came out to tell us they didn't have any, then made us wait in the cold for an hour.

So I finished it tonight. 18.5 hours total. Didn't go after many of side missions (crimes, cars, landmarks). I'd say that's a good amount for just the main story. Of course, replays may be significantly less.

Speaking of which, after the credits (and there is a scene) you have the option to "Resume" your game from the main menu but, as far as I can tell, it just takes you back to the final sequence, so there's no going back for 100% from there. I didn't check the "Cases" section for how that all works with your regular stats, so it's probably there that you'll want to play through.

For better or worse, this story is much more complex than RDR's and it doesn't seem to have the heart that game did. Unlike RDR, however, this story begs to be replayed to pick up on things that you forgot about or just missed your first time through.

Yeah, you need to go back to the Cases section to get 100% (free roam).

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

I am almost done......

Chase sequences in this game suck. Once you realize that it really is just sort of a cinema scene it takes the fun out of it. When you run after someone the game moves you at a snails pace until you get to the "part" they want you at. A couple of times it will let you do something different...but for the most part they should have just made it a cinema...

Car chases really suck. Once again, they are easy...once you realize to just take your time and let the chase play out like they want it to. Its funny watching cars break the law and pull out when YOU have the green light, just to get in your way and make the chase more exciting...Many times I have been after someone and the light is green...they go through the intersection...and suddenly 10 cars floor it and run the red light to get in your way...

I have like 4 cases left I think...and the game is just a tremendous let down...Well made, VERY well acted and a good story, but not much of a game....

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

So I'm joining in the mix for this game. Ordered off Amazon.com with no tax, free shipping and the $20 credit, which I will probably use for a future BD purchase.

Looking forward to getting it next week.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

I picked this up for my brother today. He's a huge R* fan, he's beaten GTAIV, Episodes, RDR, Mafia II (I know not R*), etc. Anyways, been a lot of fun watching him play. The graphics are really, really nice, especially after seeing him play some GTAIV Episodes right before. Personally I'm holding out hope for an eventual PC release (probably never gonna happen).

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

Finished it...I would give it a 7.5 out of 10....

Loved the last 3 hours...it almost made up for a lot of the problems I had with the game...

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

I've spent the last two hours or so running around LA trying to find those golden film reels. It would be absolutely impossible without either a guide flat-out telling you where to go or Rockstar's semi-helpful flash widget on their social club.

I've been using this: http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/...checklist.html (Los Angeles Map, Film Reels) that shows the rough location and a hint (some far more helpful than others). When that info doesn't tell me what I need to know, I look at the text description from some of these guides: http://www.trueachievements.com/a151...m?showguides=1

I had to stop after finding half of them to give myself a break. It's annoying as fuck. If only the game gave you markers or hints itself to find them, this wouldn't be necessary. At least I've been finding some landmarks and vehicles I missed by going all over the city.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

Is there a "theater mode" where you can rewatch the flashback cutscenes?

That is why I don't mess with achievements like these...I don't have the patience to spend 4 hours driving around town with a guide just to collect some stupid film reels...it would be more impressive if they were completely random, so there could never be a guide, and people had to find them on their own...I wish games would stop putting these sort of collecting achievements into games...the newspapers were handled better, because over the course of the game you could find them with a little looking....also the landmarks, I found all but 8 during the course of the game...so finding the last 8 was not that big of a deal...but 50 fucking film reels?

Agreed but it adds to 100% so I'll be doing it. Shouldn't be but another hour anyway.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.

the 50 film reels took me about 45 minutes using 2 youtube videos a guy made. It was actually quite easy. Now, the driving all 95 cars probably took me about 6 hours or driving and can go to hell.

To be fair, every GTA game from GTA3 onward has had this same sort of thing, whether it's packages or pigeons. At least it's not like the pigeons in GTA4 where you had to shoot them and trigger a wanted level nearly every damn time.
