So far, the only bad case was the first one on disc 3.....I hated it and thought it was way too long and boring.

What was the collectible in RDR? You can call that the exception to the rule, but I stopped playing "GTA" games after 2 because I hated what they did to it. Just because they're not a new concept doesn't mean they should exist.

That's why they're called achievements. What would be the point of making everything simple and easy to find in 5 minutes? Achievements are meant for the hardcore player that puts extra time into the game. There would be no point in having any if they were able to get with one quick run through of the game.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard since someone saying casting can be a spoiler!
Achievements should be achievable (it's kind of in the name). Impossible without guides are not achievements. You don't get ANYTHING in the game to tell you how to find them or even how many are in an area.

It's not impossible. It's difficult. You ever play either of the Crackdown games? Those fucking orbs were ridiculous to find and many couldn't be found unless you spend time looking for them. You never got anything in the game how to find them unless you were right on top of them and you got a slight sound indicator.

Citing other games doesn't make it acceptable. Except for a line entry on the stats page, there's no mention of these things in the game at all. There's no % per region. There's no "indicator" when you're close. They're outside of the cases and even the street crimes so you have to find them just messing around. Also, you have to be on foot which is completely counter to how free roam works in a city like L.A. I found one in my playthrough and that's only cuz I got lost.
Have you found any? Have you looked for any? Feel free to keep arguing just to argue.

I don't think I'll do too well with this game. I can't tell when someone is lying, what to look for, what to do....
This whole doubt, lying, truth thing aint workin' for me.

I Platinumed GTA IV and the achievements in this one seem like a walk in the park compared to that game. Also, if you really want to complain go find all 150+ Wanted posters in Mafia II.

I don't get the point of the film reels either. I wouldn't even know they existed if I didn't see them on a stat screen. I have none of them.

I won't disagree that the lack of mention in the game is sloppy, but really? You want everything handed to you on a silver platter? In many games there are achievements you get by doing shit they don't spell out to you at all. I understand that doesn't make it acceptable to you, but it's not like this is the first game to do that. I won't find any because I'm not a completionist in that sense. I'll play the game and be done with it, because I'll have gotten my enjoyment out of it. I'm not arguing with you just to argue, but ever since I called you out on that stupid casting "spoiler" you seem to have a chip on your shoulder in this thread. Calm down. It's just a game and this is just an internet forum.
I don't have a chip on my shoulder. I couldn't care less that you have a different opinion. I changed my thread attendance around your carefree attitude.

I agree with you about the film reels being ridiculous. You would never find a single one without buying the guide or having someone else do the work for you. However, it's like that in every game that has collecting, so I wasn't upset about it. At least it was only 50 items, most games have 100+. There should never be collecting in a game just for the sake of collecting, at least have it make sense and be obtainable w/o cheating.

Meh, I've never played a single game with collectibles that had absolutely zero mention of or direction to them. If I had, I would have bitched in that thread. And I've dine a lot of shitty, tedious collecting.
It's behind me now, I just wouldn't be defending any company for doing this no matter how any of their games I've loved.

See above. Rockstar likes to do this.

Yeah, I see that now. This is only the second Rockstar I've played in the modern era and RDR didn't do it. They don't get a pass just for being Rockstar (or Team Bondi).

Putting 50 hidden items, that someone is just going to grab a guide to find...and wasting hours finding them...what satisfaction is that? That is not hard...nor does is require ANY skill other than a printer to print them out, or a computer near by to look it up...how could anyone think otherwise? That is why I have games where I have maybe the hardest difficulty done, but collection 50 monkey boots...or 1000 flowers...I do not...

and as I said above, while it would not make me any happier...it at least would make more sense if collectibles were 100% random...that way you could not use a guide...and it would require work on your part to find them...then I would understand....at least you could then feel like you did something when you finished it....
