Kmart is far from my favorite retailer, but they have made great strides lately. What do you guys think about Kmart? How about other game retailers? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Let's keep the thread rollin'!

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.
So far I've done a few missions. Driving is as clunky as GTA is but I don't mind it so much because you can skip some of it and also I'd assume cars really felt like that. The controls are a bit wonky, too. Only been in a few fights (which are pretty easy). Shooting a gun is pretty straightforward. As for the interviews, the first one took me about 20 minutes to figure out. You can accuse people of lying, offer up some doubt or say they are telling the truth. Problem is it's a fine line as to when you know when to use doubt or lying. On the second interview I did, it was a bit easier. There are definite clues as to know what to look for in a person to tell if they are lying. That makes it a bit easier. The story is pretty cool and the game looks good, but nothing spectacular.

Want to know again?
This thread is active.
This thread may not have any gameplay impressions yet because for the most part DVDTalkers are gainfully employed adults who have either a) just picked up the game, b)are still trying to pick up the game, c) have barely played
The Kmart discussion will stop once people have the game and start to discuss it. Also that thread was 3 posts deep with zero game discussion, making it as useless as this one was to you.
And you don't have to read shit - if you see Kmart mentioned in the post, skip it.

I'll be buying my copy tonight, after work, at Kmart! Yup, Kmart.
I'll probably have some impressions ready to post tonight (about Kmart, and also about L.A. Noire).

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.
I also got an email from Amazon about my delivery being delayed, so I set up a return under "Missed estimated delivery date" and bought the PS3 version at Gamestop.
Edit: And I would have done the same thing as L&O regarding the duplicate thread.

How is it different than any other thread in this entire forum? Just read the new posts? It doesn't matter how many were there before. If you don't care about what is in one or more new posts, skip them. The board remembers what you haven't read so you don't have to see them again.

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.
The guy at Gamestop told me that the Badge Pursuit DLC was only for pre-orders, but there was a slip for it along with the Consul's Car DLC. Of course I can't redeem either because PSN is still being shitty, but it's there.
Also, Kmart Kmart Kmart Kmart.
Edit: I do not recommend trying the "Playstation Store" option in the game menu. It froze my system.

Wow, the graphics on this are slick. This face capture software they're using is fantastic.
And the black and white mode is the jam!

Re: LA Noire - The Thread.
First impressions:
Pretty good so far. I think it will turn out that one reason for the variable reports on game length are due to the puzzle-like nature of the cases. If you knew which objects to pick up and where to go, you could get through the cases quickly. But you don't, so it takes you time to look around and see what's important and what isn't. There was also a witness I questioned in the first case that I don't think is necessary, since I restarted the case and skipped it the second time.
And then there's actually passing the interrogations. I had a lot of trouble with my first one, and I don't have the ability to tell truth from lies yet. I'm not even sure when "doubt" is supposed to be used. But, I suppose you can just use trial and error and get it anyway.
The driving is pretty sensitive. Hopefully I'll get used to it.
