Pretty sure that was the point of advising him to not go tonight.

so, i rarely buy games except for a few of the big AAA titles a year. i don't recall any other game having a review embargo right up until the day before release. is that becoming more common or is this a rarity?

It's not really all that uncommon, especially for Rockstar. Some even do so up till day of release.

Of the games I've purchased in the past year or so (again, mostly AAA titles at launch), I don't recall one of them not having a single review up at least 3-5 days before the game came out. That's why I was asking.

$15 GC with online purchase at BB is good enough for me with or without reviews. Can't wait to give it a spin.

Did you buy Call of Duty Black Ops or Starcraft 2 last year? Neither of them had any early reviews.

According to Cheap Ass Gamer K-Mart is offering a $20 coupon towards the purchase of your next game AND any $20 game for free with purchase.

If the reviews are strong, I think I'm getting my copy there. Sadly, from what I've been reading, the game sounds like the world's most polished rental.

So I take it all their comments on it being a 25 hour game were BS?

Not sure if this is even worth posting, but Amazon's price dropped from $59.99 to an amazingly low...$59.00.

I do think it's hard to estimate the full length of almost any game based on the early levels. But 10-12 hours is fine for this sort of game.

This one's nearly review proof for me. 10-12 hours is perfect. It's rare that I play a non-sports game longer than that anyway (RDR being the most recent example).

10 - 12 would be perfect, actually. I was weary with the 25 hour comment.

Someone said Game Informer gave it a 9.5 and said it was 30-60 hours.

Re: Whatever happened to LA Noire? -here's some info

Has anyone else found Rockstar games to be rediculously dark on the 360? I had to switch to playing GTAIV on the PS3 because it was just way too dark on the 360 even with the brightness cranked up. Red Dead is the same way although not nearly as bad.

Re: Whatever happened to LA Noire? -here's some info

I stopped pre-ordering games from Amazon. I can usually get the same or extremely similar deal at Best Buy, and have it in my hands on release day. Even with regular shipping (NOT the free "super saver" option), Portal 2 took almost a week to arrive. Feh!!

Re: Whatever happened to LA Noire? -here's some info

With Amazon Prime, I get release-day delivery of (most) new games, plus no tax. Not comparing deals (which is hard to do game-to-game), I'm saving a bundle there, plus the aggravation of driving to Best Buy, standing in line, etc.

Re: Whatever happened to LA Noire? -here's some info

I looked at Amazon Prime, but I don't order enough from Amazon to make it economically worthwhile. Maybe 5-6X a year, at most. The Best Buy is about a 5 minute drive from the house and is on the way home from work, so that helps too.

I hope that's the "do everything" figure and not the "play through the cases" figure.

Same thing here. Actually, when I combine what Amazon Prime saves me from DVD & game sales (no tax, no cost to go pick up an time at a retailer, etc) it more than pays for itself several times over.

Review embargos are up so almost everywhere should be putting up reviews now. Which means I'm out of here till I play it this week. Staying totally dark!
