Tool is LONG overdue....I cannot wait to play them on Guitar Hero:WT. Great songs from them. Also excited about some other songs as well. I think Rock Band may have the SLIGHT edge set-list wise, but I'll be buying GH if only for the peripherals and the exclusive songs. I hope there is more 311 as well.
For those who aren't TOOL fans, go listen to those three songs. They will be A LOT of fun to play with a band, and will probably top-tier difficulty-wise on all instruments/vocals. |
311!!!!!!!! AWESOME! Not sure I'd choose that song, but if this means we could see more 311 on GH (or hopefully RB) then I'm all for it!
|
Wait... wait... Wings? Holy shit... I know I'm probably the only one that cares... but sold!

I only count 80 on that list and I don't see a Cult song listed even though they're in the picture, so I assume there's a few more yet. There are a bunch of great songs on there, though.

MC5 is also listed on the poster and not in the setlist. Still, a lot of great songs in there. I'm definitely more excited for this than RB2, but I'm still buying the disc-only RB2.

Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, and Wings....awesome.

It's another band rhythm video game first as Activision announces that Smashing Pumpkins will debut their new single "G.L.O.W." as part of a track pack for Guitar Hero: World Tour before the song is released to the general public. The song, which I highly doubt has anything to do with the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, will be part of a Smashing Pumpkins track pack, rounded out by "1979" and "The Everlasting Gaze". That makes four Smashing Pumpkins songs for Guitar Hero: World Tour, with "Today" shipping on the disc. In addition to the music, Smashing Pumpkins front man and creepiest bald man in music since Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil Billy Corgan will appear in the game as a playable character, allowing players to experience the joys of being Corgan as they advance through their vocal or guitar careers. I say screw that. I want an entire band made up of Billy Corgan. Corgan on bass. Corgan on drums. Corgan selling refreshments at the concessions stand. It's the stuff nightmares are made of. THE SMASHING PUMPKINS TO DEBUT NEW SINGLE "G.L.O.W." AS PART OF DOWNLOADABLE SONGPACK EXCLUSIVELY FOR GUITAR HERO® WORLD TOUR In-Game Model of Vocalist and Lead Guitarist, Billy Corgan, and "Today" from Four Times-Platinum Album Siamese Dream To Rock On-Disc at Launch Tuesday 2nd September/... The Smashing Pumpkins, one of rock's defining and most acclaimed bands who've sold over 30 million albums, is coming to Activision Publishing, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ATVI) Guitar Hero® World Tour in a ground-breaking way as the band will debut its new single “G.L.O.W.” exclusively in the game. This marks the first time a band has recorded a new song exclusively for the franchise which will be released afterwards, giving Guitar Hero® fans exclusive access to Smashing Pumpkins music before anyone else. The new track, bundled with two other rocking Smashing Pumpkins hits, “1979” and “The Everlasting Gaze,” will be available post-launch of the game as a three-song downloaded content pack. Additionally, on-disc with the release of Guitar Hero World Tour this autumn, The Smashing Pumpkins’ singer, songwriter and lead guitarist Billy Corgan will appear as an in-game character and will bring with him “Today,” the band’s smash hit from their pivotal and four-times platinum 1993 album Siamese Dream. “Today” is one of the band’s many hits that have defined the alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation. Players will be able to experience the unique alternative rocker’s likeness in-game as he sings and shreds on guitar, or play as the revered rock star throughout their vocal and axe careers. |

Awesome pack. Fuck exclusivity.
Also, they haven't mentioned anything about selling single songs on the Marketplace/PSN. If they enforce packs and have anything near the level of DLC that Rock Band does, it's probably going to bite them in the ass. |
Yep. The way it reads is that G.L.O.W. is the exclusive, nothing more.
|
Sure it's open for interpretation based on where they decide to use the word "exclusively" in the sentence. If they're saying the "GH:WT songpack" is exclusive to "GH:WT" and it's just redundant misleading marketing (as usual), then that's one thing. But the use of the word is still scary and I stand by my original expletive.

 Doesn't sound misleading at all to me:

On forums that need to be highly moderated with lots of minors. I don't have a problem with it as a parent, but I can certainly see why the mods over there would err on the side of caution.
Kids reading something in context is one thing, but you also have kids just posting nonsense. Imagine random XBL games in print. |

I'm a little bummed by all the GH:WT tracks that are already in Rock Band 1/2/DLC, but thanks to the notable GH-exclusive tracks and the fact that I can use my RB instruments, this is a definite purchase for me.
|
4 more confirmed tracks-
* "Prisoner of Society" by The Living End * "La Bamba" by Los Lobos * "Scream Aim Fire" by Bullet for My Valentine * "Our Truth" by Lacuna Coil All of these were listed on the leaked list on page 29, so that list is looking really accurate now... http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/04/fo...date-revealed/ |
Has there been any indication that GH:WT will be offering DLC similar to RB does? Meaning everything is stand-alone, but some are packaged together and possibly offered at a discount.
I just wonder if they'll continue the trend of 3 song pack = 500 points, regardless if you only like/want one or two of them. Or if they'll implement something like 200 each, 500 for the 3-pack like RB's 160/440 deals (3 songs for the price of 2.5). Just reflecting on that Smashing Pumpkins announcement, mostly. But I can see it being a major short-fall going forward if they keep the same, rigid release policy. |
I was wondering the same after seeing the Pumpkin's announcement.

If they adjust the price down, it'd obviously be better for us, though. Choice would be nice, but I can see why they do it this way. |

If they do keep their same pricing structure (both the higher prices compared to RB and only packs), I will buy very little DLC for GH, since unless it's an exclusive band (and how many of those are there?), there will be a decent chance it shows up in RB eventually for less $.
Case in point: That classic rock 3-pack. Jukebox Hero was already DLC for RB. Peace of Mind came out shortly after in RB. And Any Way You Want It will be on the RB2 disc. Sure, you never know if they'll show up or not, and you might be waiting a few months, but I'm cheap and willing to get other songs in the meantime. |
Sorry if this was already posted, but has there been any word how the GHIV drums will work with Rock Band II? Will the drum pedal be useless if you try to use it on RB? Also the RB drum pads from left to right are red-yellow-blue-green and orange pedal, while GH Pads yellow-red-blue-green-orange. Can you reassign the pads for each drums set?
