<s>Tempting, but all signs point to it being a rental.</s>

Fuck it. Amazon already sent me my $10 for Split/Second so I caved. $45 for S/S and $40 for AW. Damn you Amazon!

That's baloney - my pre-order shipped yesterday at $59.99. Are they trying to actively discourage future pre-orders?

Since they won't match after it's shipped anymore, looks like I'll be ordering 2 copies and returning one. Because that's easier and more cost-effective for everyone.

"Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, software, or video game, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date. A pre-order price guarantee message will appear on your Order Summary during the checkout process."

Though they don't have the post-order price matching anymore, it sounds like you should still be eligible for this. I've used it once, and though it took two emails ["we don't price match anymore", till I pointed them to the Preorder guarantee] I did get the money back.

Yes, you don't have to order again and return one, Amazon will refund the difference of all price changes thru the end of release date.

And you don't really have to email them, it should come automatically within a few days.

Good point(s), for some reason I had forgotten today was the actual release date rather than yesterday when it shipped.

I'll wait and see what happens.

I'm hoping my $20 gift card from Red Dead Redemption comes quick enough to apply to Alan Wake at that price (and get another $10 ;))

Eh, not too big on racing games, sorry.

I still haven't cracked open the Burnout Paradise case from my Gamestop run to pick up Warhawk last year.

And that is something you will have to live with for the rest of your life.

Friendly reminder for all those getting credits this week for Alan Wake, Split/Second, Red Dead and Mario Galaxy:

Microsoft point cards are still on sale and come with $5 in credit for MP3s. I already have pretty much everything I want pre-ordered, so this is a good way to stock up on some points.

1600 - $17.33
4000 - $43.54

The 4000 looks tempting, but if you only have $10 in credit, the 1600 point card is a better deal.

$1.83 / 400pts vs. $3.35 / 400pts

Hopefully these prices will hold through Sunday for the Mario Galaxy credit.

Maybe my math is off, but the the 1600 point card is 4.33 for 400 points while the 4000 point card is 4.35 for 400 points. Not a huge difference.

His math assumed you were using a $10 credit.

On anything Nintendo releases on Sunday, I usually don't get it from Amazon, even with Prime, until the following Tuesday or Wednesday.

Looking at "My Account" it says the delivery estimate is the 26th (Wed).

Buy from Best Buy, get receipt.

Get delivery from Amazon.
Return unopened Amazon copy to Best Buy on Best Buy receipt.

Call of Duty: Black Ops, $59.99 preorder w/$20 game credit. Not bad.
