I look at it more as, Virtual Boy aside, there is a lot of fail from systems not made by Nintendo.

I'm not getting one myself, but I think the 3DS is going to do just fine.

Does the 3DS only play 3DS games or can you play DSi games as well? I think that will be the factor in deciding if it fails or succeeds. I also read games will be as much as $50 each. That's a bit steep for a gadget I consider to be mostly for kids.

It can play DS games as well, which is why it should succeed... even if you hate the 3d affect, you can turn it off. Some of the best DS games use the stylus as an afterthought. Also, solicits for games are coming out at $40.

Not a deal, just a heads up. I received a giftcard from amazon today for doing a survey a while back. Not sure if anyone else did this survey, but the only reason I am posting here is while all my amazon emails go to my main folder, this one went to my junk folder. If you remember doing a survey a few weeks (months?) back, check....

This is quite a deal, so I'm happy for anyone that gets in on this but...

at what point to these videogame companies screw themselves over by conditioning the consumer to never, ever pick up games at launch. I mean, at least I used up my Kmart coupons and got a PSN card, but geez, I got bit by this AND LBP2 just in the past couple of weeks. I used to just hold off on Ubisoft games...

How do you know this isn't the retailers doing this?

The money is made on dlc these days, not the 2 weeks after launch

Good point, but considering the relatively low margins on most games, I don't see how this makes Amazon any money outside of some kind of incentive by EA. I mean, as an online store, they don't even really get the peripheral sales... or are they price matching someone else?

Re: Amazon pre-order?

if you pre-ordered a game and then after you ordered they announce a pre-order deal where you get a $10 promotional credit towards future purchase, do you still get in on that even though you did prior or do you have to cancel and re-order? thanks.

It's less effort for you to ask that of amazon itself. Bonus: a faster, less snarky response.

I'm not entirely sure. Usually I just cancel and re-order. Seems like less hassle than contacting Customer Service about it.

I always have gotten the credit with no action required by me. It's just been applied to my order.

If you read the fine print on the page when they add the offer, it always says "this offer will be extended to all existing pre-orders". Or something to that effect. So there is no need to cancel and re-order.

And I impulsively pulled the trigger, certain that Dead Space 2 wouldn't be available so cheap for months!

Amazon is holding a buy 1, get 1 50% off on games listed at 19.99 or under. I was eyeing Dante's Inferno/Bully but haven't pulled the trigger.

Note: I didn't DVDTalk the link since I write on another website that also does the Amazon thing. Don't want to play favorites either way. :D

I liked Bully; it was my first 1000/1000. It's a Rockstar game, so you know what you're getting into.

Yeah, I picked up the strategy guide to Bully a couple of weeks ago for a couple of bucks in the clearance section of Half Price Books and it looked really nice and detailed. So needless to say since then I've been looking for the game at a good price.

For that price, I'd highly recommend both of those games, especially Bully.

As for me, I already own most of the games on that list that I'd be interested in (most purchased full-price on release day...sigh).

Amazon DotD: Band Hero (Wii) for $15.49 (61% off): http://amzn.to/eVGDIh

Hey, if you're playing music games on the Wii anyway, you've already proven you make poor decisions. Might as well put the cherry on top with this dead franchise.
