That has to be a late April Fool's joke because that is ridiculous sounding.

Well, I finally found a store with Metroid Prime Trilogy in stock. I'm not in the habit of paying MSRP for new games, let alone two-year-old new games, but I figured this one must be worth $50 + tax, having never played a Metroid Prime game before (save the nearly-unplayable DS game Metroid Hunters). I'm hoping it holds up well.
Maybe I can start a thread here about how I'm playing the trilogy for the first time!

Sounds like my Wii has taken to shutting itself off after 15-20 minutes of use. Any home remedies, or do I need to send it in?
Out of warranty, too...I assume their bench charge will be damn near the cost of a new system these days.

From Nintendo's site:
If you are able to get power to come back on, but then it keeps going out, the problem is likely due to either overheating or from an unlicensed accessory tripping the fuse on the AC Adapter. Please check for the following:
1 - Make sure that the word "Wii" and the model number "RVL-002 (USA)" molded into the AC adapter. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible and may not work correctly.
2 - Avoid the use of unlicensed products such as memory cards, controllers, and cheat devices. Some of these products are poorly manufactured and may result in damage to your system. If one of these products is attached to your system, remove it and try resetting the AC Adapter (see below).
3 - Check all accessories, licensed or not, for phsyical damage. Physical damage, such as frayed wiring or a cracked housing can cause the system to shut down. Remove any damaged products and try resetting the AC Adapter (see below).
4 - Make sure the Wii has good ventilation. Avoid operating the Wii while it's on carpeting or inside an enclosed space. If you have the Wii placed in a vertical position, make sure the vents on the bottom are lined up properly with the hole in the plastic stand and no foreign material is obstructing that hole.
5 - Check the vent on the back and side (or bottom, depending on how you have the system positioned) of the Wii for dust build up. The system will shut down if it cannot vent properly to prevent overheating. If there is a build-up, remove it using a vaccum cleaner with a soft brush attachment.
6 - If the above steps do not solve the problem, you should try resetting the AC Adapter. Click here for instructions on how to do this.
resetting the AC adapter.
1 - Unplug/remove all accessories from the system (including game discs, SD Cards, memory cards, Nintendo GameCube controllers, hookup cables, the AC Adapter, and Sensor Bar) from the outlet and Wii.
2 - Let the system rest for about 90 seconds. While you're waiting, check to see that controller cords, AC Adapter, and Stereo AV cables/Component Video cables are not frayed or have exposed wires (this can cause the system to shut off); if so, you should replace those parts.
3 - After the 90 seconds, Plug the AC Adapter into the system and wall outlet. Check to see if the power light on the Power button comes on.
- If the system works, plug ONE accessory into your system starting with the Sensor Bar, then turn the system on to see if it still works. Repeat this process with ONE accessory at a time. If your system doesn't work once you put a particular accessory in (Sensor Bar, GameDisc, Nintendo GameCube controller, Memory Card, SD Card, etc.), there may be something defective with that accessory.
- If the power does not come on, a repair will be necessary. Because it is not possible to determine which item (Wii console or A/C Adapter) needs repair, please call our Consumer Service Department at 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options, or click here to e-mail us.

LOL, I got offered that but I'm on a 6 month gift subscription (one of the few wedding presents we got).
On another note, I have two Wii Classic Controllers and use them a lot, is there any benefit at all to go to the new Classic Controllers Pro? Just curious.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX
Far superior:
- Load times seem much shorter
- The interface overall is much more intuitive
- The Wii remote is terrific for navigation
- Total time from booting the machine to watching something seems much shorter
- No wear-and-tear on my PS3, which gets used for everything else
One downside:
- It can't do HD and no HDMI, but with component cables, it looks good on my 50-inch plasma (component cables were something like $6 at monoprice.com)

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX
Don't you have to have a gold account on 360?
I also remember something about being able to watch movies with your friends list simultaneously with voicechat...which probably sounds cooler than it actually is. Did I dream that up?
Between the Wii and the PS3, it feels like there's less between me and the content on Wii (simpler), and I love the Wii remote interface. I can also just leave the Netflix disk in my Wii because...what the hell else am I going to put in there???
My opinion may change when the disk goes away on PS3.

You do require a gold account for 360, and there is a "party" feature which shows your avatars in front of the screen MST3K style.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX
I did back in October or so when I had a NF trial. Mostly college buddies that live far away now, though. It was fun and I plan on starting up NF again next month when I cancel cable. I want to say we've had discussions of doing something through this community every so often, but as far as I know, that's never happened.
Oh, and I was just joking before. No one is my friend anyway

I would love to do this, but I have yet to try the party feature.

I'm getting ready to cut cable and do an antenna plus Tivo for local programing. I'll already have NF on my PS3 and soon to be Tivo. I like the idea of the Wii interface, but with no HD and NF on two other devises, it seems like an overkill.

When my brother got his new TV, I moved my Wii upstairs so that my nephew couldn't crack the screen with a wayward Wiimote like he did with my brother's old TV. Having a Netflix disc for my Wii means I can watch it upstairs on the Wii and downstairs on my PS3 using the disc for that.

I was pretty impressed with Netflix on the Wii, but at least on my TV the 360 SD looks better. Overall though I was very happy. I may put the Wii in my daughters room so she can stream shows she wants to watch.

I think I'd be willing to trade fidelity for the Wii interface anyway, which I think is very well designed...and feels more like a traditional remote.

Do you think it looks better because of the cables or hardware? I've only watched TV shows (Dollhouse and Bones) and two old movies that wouldn't show much of a difference (Blade Runner threatrical cut and Point of no Return), and I couldn't see much of a difference between Wii and PS3.

I will say I am very impressed with the Wii version. It greatly exceeded my expectations and is a fine way to stream SD content from Netflix.

Not sure if it improves the image or not, but Monoprice is selling Wii Component cables for $4.24 shipped, which is an awesome price. I ordered one for the hell of it -- if there's even a chance of the image looking better on the HDTV for less than $5, I'll give it a shot.
